Feels like it's been so long since we've heard anything, I'd forgotten all about the big boat dude we've got coming.

What do we know about the boat?

    - What size of base does it come with?
    - Is it an unique/named hero?

    - Do we assume that it has the Monster keyword?

  3. Man I feel weird about the Arena of Shades box. I was absolutely sure that this was an insta buy for me and still love the new units BUT with the battletomes still not released it’s hard to find a buyer for the DoK models and extra spirit torment.
The fact that the profiles released yet are so poor doesn’t exactly make the box more interesting.
For the love og AOS, I really don’t get why GW think it’s smart to release these boxes, with useless profiles way before battletomes are out. FYI, I actually still believe that the profiles will make sense when the tome is out, but for now I feel like GW kills their own momentum. That sucks.

  4. That roadmap is REALLY welcomed.

Not all might like the tomes we are to expect, but just knowing what to wait for, when to save money and when to focus on sideproject and shame pile, is a blessing.
For the first time in quite a while I felt like GW did a smart buisness move.

  5. So that box is litterally tailored for my needs. Beside the new ghosts Iv’e been wanting to get more bladegheists and Myrmourns anyway. And to add stuff on top of that one of my friends loves the DOK so this is an instabuy💪

Still pretty weird that there was no mention if any kind of tomes for neither Deepkin, nor Fyreslayers or Nighthaunts

    🤔

If I'm honest, I think all we'll see is Fyreslayers and IDK tomes but if there's a preview for us then I'd be chuffed.

Did’nt they mention something vague about looking into the stuff that was previewed at new year?

Pretty sure Iv’e read that in a AOS Facebook comment or somewhere in the LVO info🤔

If so that might give us a fair chance of getting at least another glimpse of the Nighthaunt looking model holding a book.

Are you talking about the free daemons thing, or is there another Path to Glory issue? Because I was really hoping for some clarification on free daemons, where they aren't included in the Order of Battle and whether or not you have to count their points toward your army. It's the word "free" that throws it off.

No thats not it. To put it correct I was hopping for two things to be clarified.

    1. Excess Contagion Points: Say I have 10 Contagion Points and I summon 3 Nurglings thus spending 8 CP. What happens to the rest?

    2. Bringing on the Rot (p. 76). Am I suppose to summon all the cessnode swapping Gnarlmaws following all the rules of summoning ?(spending CP, within 7” of a hero/tree etc.) or is this some special rule that just allows for a bunch of free Gnarlmaws?

I beg to differ on the tactic (but only that):

Page 82 – Battle Tactics, Gifts of Nurgle
    Change to:
‘You complete this tactic if 3 or more friendly Maggotkin of
Nurgle units are within 3" of the same enemy unit at the end of
    this turn.’

Fair enough. Have yet to play a match game with my Maggotkin, so I wearent aware of the situation about that tactic.

On the other hand there was no mention on the Path to Glory battleplan issue.

Maybe it's because 40k (Imperials) just sells better so GW would want to maximise their profits as much as they can given the situation.

Source: I dunno I'm probably talking out my ******.

Like I said before, that does make sense to some degree and even explain the many recent 40K releases. It still doesn’t explain GW dropping all news about AOS. Sure 40K is the most selling game or so I heard, but I would believe that AOS is a strong follower. At least strong enough not be completely ignored.

Even if Covid and Brexit made it 100% impossible to release AOS models. Rules, articles, and plans for the future would still very much make sense to release.

I know a lot of people are sick of this answer but it's COVID and Brexit. GW's original plan was to ship the dragons in September, Nurgle in October and probably Fyreslayers and IDK by the end of the year. We would've had 5 books in the first six months instead of three.

Here in Japan we just got white dwarf 470 and the new Killteam starter is nowhere to be seen. Things are still majorly messed up and you only have to look at the queues of trucks in England to see that this is a problem that isn't going to end soon.

I can totally respect Covid and Brexit being the true reason behind these weird release times. However what I do not understand is how these problems still tipped the scales so intensively in favour of 40K. Even if that makes sense somehow, then I find it difficult to understand, why they don’t give us some rumour bits, rules, FAQ’s insight to the future og anything else but the silence treatment that is good for noone.

40k players were saying this through most of 2021 …

They did, well if so, thats pretty messed up as well. Like I was trying to say I don’t understand how it can make sense for GW to keep focus entirely on one of two major games. If 40K was left in the dark for such a long time as we have been experiencing now well thats just as bad.

We just got a new edition of AOS it was kicked off with lots of momentum, why kill it off already?!
I simply just don’t get it.. I really don’t and if someone cares to explain why it IS a good marketing strategy GW displays this way I would very much like to hear from them.

  12. Another week with 40k. Are they serious?! It’s been two month with nothing but two new heroes no one needed. I cannot understand how any company can consider it a good market strategy to focus entirely one one product at a time. IMO it would make so much more sense to switch focus every week or so, or even have a little bit of both main games every week. Say models for 40k and rumours for AOS in the same week. Next week it’s models for AOS and rumours for 40K.

Im seriously frustrated about this. January is boring enough without this…

  13. While we are waiting for some AOS news why not try out the Path to Glory rules?

These might not be for everyone but The rules team sure put a lot of work into making narrative gaming much more appealing than ever before. My
local group just put all of our focus into PtG and it was just what we needed to get back to really enjoying every aspect of the hobby. From painting, converting, playing to storywriting.
Now we are going through all of the recent WDs just to search for extra stuff to add to our campaign.
So heres to hoping that PtG and narrative will become a bigger part of AOS than it used to, with expansions and a streamlined rule set.

one other thing on this about army updates, how many of us actually play exclusively one army? has there been any polls on how many armies ppl typically collect?

I still consider myself fairly new to the hobby (about 2.5yrs) and already have started 3... and it's the same with others in my group. And I would assume I will add to that number over the coming years so it's not really a huge issue (for me at least) if a particular one goes without update for quite a while... still so much more models available than time to paint 😅

I hear what you say and I also collect 2-3 armies myself while dreaming of starting a 4th.

However 2 of those armies was started mainly because I got tired of waiting for updates.
If I have but one hope for the future of AOS it is for the powercreep to stop. So far it seems like my wish might come true but I guess we know if GW once again has to turn up the heat to sell factions that is unpopular due to having few units. I believe they did so for AOS 2.

  15. First of all let me say this post is NOT to start a debate or bashing on the relevance of WH+ it’s only because I gotta find out if Im getting old faster than I realize or if whoever edited the last battlereport might be the type of person who enjoys doing drugs and dobbel espressos while driving really really fast.

So have you seen the battlereport on Maggotkin VS Sylvaneth that was just released today?

    How was your experience?
to me it was a menage of beautiful armies and scenery, wrapped in a cool narrative. However none of that mattered as it was shot out of a cannon* at pace that left very little for me to understand.

Turns felt like they took less than 5 minuttes, ability pop ups was on screen for 2-3 seconds making it impossible for me to read them before they vanished into the blurry mess. If I were to watch some AOS Championship I guess some og this would make a bit more sense, but the game was over before I realized who won and how they did it?! Whats the point of doing a truely gorgeous looking narrative battlereport if we don’t get to enjoy it taking in every great looking image while slowly realizing that this is the exact reason why we waited several month for this repport?!

Let it be known that I think of myself as being fairly well at reading and understanding english** and also note that I watched the show at a 53” tv, so watching battlereports is usually not a problem for me.

So what did you lot experience when you watched the show?
Do you agree with me or is it time for this boomer to paint nothing but Gargants** while wrapping myself in a blanket, complaining about the weather and how the youth of today never understood how to appreciate stepping on a WHFB goblin spearman, the way we used to.

    * Not the Cannon camera but more like the gatling gun cannon fired by that terrified guy from first Predator movie’.

** Even though my spelling is some what similar to something done by a kid with a crayon.

***The only model huge enough for me to reconize with my apperently fading vision and wits.

Ah good ole AOS news is so refreshing it's a Christmas miracle!!

Regarding expansions I am so damn excited to see what kind of models we have to look forward to. Damn I'm happy with this.

Me to dude! At the moment Im sorrounded by family members desperately lacking people that understand how extremely awesome this is!

Im 2 seconds from highfiving myself🤪

Indeed. It just feels odd that they hyped up Era of the Beasts and Ghur and then almost immediately after the Kruelboyz release it feels like we are onto Ulgu in every article.

I know it’s still a bit early but don’t you guys expect AOS to turn focus to a new realm once a year?

Sure if that is the case then we should still have at least untill july before Ghur is swapped but the release of a Ghur focused GHB signaled to me that we wearen’t meant to stay in any realm for more than a year.

The main window for information of the Warcrybox was from October 31st to November 6th.

This weeks information should be mainly for the stuff that is going to pre-order on Saturday. The problem is, most of it is Black Templars and their were multiple articles before thanks to the Armybox.

You might be right there mate, still it doesn’t change the fact that its strange that there has been so little hype about Red Harvest or I am missing something here?

  19. Is it just me or has the info on Warcry: Red Harvest been very sparse?

I mean the game is to be released in two days and their has been only one or two community articles and not a single painting tutorial or battlereport video.

None of those articles had any rules related content, only spot on the two new factions.

    🤔
