It all depends on what we get tomorrow afternoon on the Sunday's 18pm "Next Week" preview.

In case WH40K TS Codex is announced for 27/01 pre-order, I wouldn't be surprized that we'll get a Shadespire release the week after.

Which would lead to a possible pre-order of Malin Portent Heralds on 10/02.. or may be one weeks later..

Month two of the Malign Portents painting competition begins on 13/02/18 and is to paint the Harbinger for your chosen faction, so 10th, possibly even the week before seems about right.

I meant a model with NO helmeted option, not with A NON helmeted option, i.e. a model that cannot be assembled with a helmet from just the contents of its box.

All the ones you described are ones that had a helmeted AND non-helmeted option.

Ah I see, without a helmeted option. Then yes, I think you have it with that short list.

I hope am not asking in the wrong place, but I couldn't find any Skirmish Age of Sigmar topic. I wanted to start playing, but real armies just cost too much for me . I was told that skirmish is cheaper, and uses fewer models. how much would a overlord ot stormcast skirmish Age of Sigmar army cost, and what units are the best for each faction? Are those factions viable in skirmish. Also how many  points is skirmish normally played 500 or is it less?

There's not a sub-forum for Skirmish, but there are a number of threads in the Narrative sub-forum, although I don't think anyone would mind if you posted in the General Discussion section (Moderators might give you a better stear on this).

Skirmish points are calculated slightly differently, although at the beginning of this thread there is a rough calculation you can use to work out Renown values. The Skirmish Rule Book is £6.00 and you combine this with the free pdf download 4 pages of AOS rules.

The pre-built Skirmish Warbands are £40.00 from Games Workshop and probably a good place to start if you like any of the armies involved.

In theory, you could spend £86.00 (assuming that you have some of the other essentials like glue, clippers, dice, etc.) and have everything you needed to play.

As a side bar, has there been a stormcast with no helmeted option besides the knight errant? I guess Meatloaf the Celestant might not of had one (though no model in GWs history has needed on more) but his rules are terrible and the model was ugly so I didn't look into it.

Neave Blacktalon, Gavriel Sureheart, Hunter Prime, Pallador Prime, Knight Errant and the Knight Aquilor has a no helmet option. Might be more, but those are the ones that came to mind.

Talking of rumours, has anyone heard anything about the power supply upgrade at the GW production centre? I don't see two new armies in January without this being resolved, as it's been cited as the reason for production slowing down in the back half of last year. Granted we may have placed more importance on this than necessary (who us, endlessly speculating based on a few scraps of information?! 9_9), but it seems like a stumbling block that I've not heard about being removed.

  5. Yeah, I like it so far, the only thing that I'd like them to add is a blank model that you can colour each section of and try out different colour combinations next to each other. I'm not sure if this would mean that they would have to paint a spacemarine for example with every colour scheme they list, so you could select the different sections, but It'd be a great feature.

  6. Yeah, I'll definitely give that a spin and particularly like the real life colour matches. I've got a bunch of photos on my phone of things I've taken pictures of that I might try and recreate for various armies if I ever get around to doing them and, while I could probably eyeball them with reasonable accuracy, if this works well, why wouldn't i do it?

I mean, it's basically the whole range of Nurgle Demons, atm. I needed to get more plaguebearers for the horde rules anyway, and I love the drones.

Ah good stuff, I wondered whether they might be by far the more undesirable side of the deal, but I guess we still have to wait and see what other potential new goodies for Nurgle there might be as well. Glad it's potentially a good foundation.

  8. I'm slightly disappointed by the Nurgle side of the box. Horticulous is obviously awesome, but not so sure about the rest. Would you consider two Nurgle halves of the set if you wanted a Nurgle army?

Stormcast side is great though, have had my eye on the Vanguard for a little while and this looks like a nice start and Black Arrow could be a beast. Bonus attacks / to hit / to wound against characters maybe if the description is anything to wildly speculate from?

Extremely excited for shadespire. Presumably we will see the skeletons in November and hopefully at least one more faction this year. It has been fairly heavily rumoured that it will be skaven. I really hope that this game takes off and they are able to add new factions regularly. I believe they have said that they will not be doing multiple boxes for the same faction so that means no more Stormcast or bloodbound after the core set.

This is the first new expandable side game GW has made since Inquisitor in 2001. As awesome as it is to see the likes of Necromunda and bloodbowl return this has me more excited than either of those.

While we are at it, is it just me or is the end of this year completely bonkers.

I was excited about Shadespire, then I saw my man in the red fall asleep playing it and I started to reconsider...

That way I can come up with a scenario for Stormcasts-Khorne alliance or Dwarf-Orkz. There can always be a greater evil that needs special alliances to be made. :P

I completely agree, you'd just have to find the greater evil. At the moment there isn't one that could cause Duardin and Orruks to unite, but in the past Sigmar and Gorkamorka did, so it proves that it's possible.

'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' until such time as we don't share an enemy any more!

Can't agree. This anvilgard box is really anti-thematic. Especially if we remember what emotions where between old empire and dark elves. Yeah I know that now they are in the same grand alliance but just look at them. They don't  match. If i ever buy this box it'll be because i need stormcast minis and privateers minis for my two seperate armies.

What if the theme is an uneasy alliance, based on the need for both to exploit a Realmgate, without the cost of destroying each other? An uneasy alliance based on necessity, based on being able to conduct a war on many fronts without being weakened and without unwittingly making Chaos' job easier?

Could be but unless it's really really well done it will feel like a quick and dirty solution. What I like about the tomes so far is they tried to innovate and turn the fluff into impactful rules. My favorites so far would be sylvaneth wyldwoods, blades tithes points and the kahadron overlords. They all add a very specific play style and effects to the army from the fluff.

By just grouping some order faction together that don't fit anywhere else... like I said only if it's really well done.

Agreed. I think they'd have to do quite a few different cities with good background lore and distinct abilities to make them work, something along the lines of the different Overlord Skyports.

I could see it being a cool hobby project for someone deeper into the lore that I, but just struck me as a way a mixed allegiance could work, assuming that they port from P2G to GHB 2017, which is by no means a sure thing.

For those interested the pre-orders for path to glory and new start collecting sets are up on the NZ GW site.

The factions with war bands in the path to glory book are:

Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Beasts of Chaos, Skaven, Clans Pestilens, Kharadron Overlords, Stormcast Eternals, Fyreslayers, Sylvaneth, Seraphon, Order (chosen from Human, Aelf and Duardin models), Ironjawz, Beastclaw Raiders, Bonesplitterz, Destruction (chosen from Orruk, Grot and Ogor models), Flesh-Eater Courts and Death

We know that at least 18 factions are getting Allegiance abilities in GHB 2017, so it's not a long shot to say that these are good bets to pick up new rules.  Likely to be more than are mentioned here, as there are obviously some factions that have new abilities already (Khorne, Overlords, etc.).

Destruction, Order and Death catch-alls could be interesting. Possibly different city allegiances, like Hammerhall for example, with unique abilities and possibly paint schemes?

but they dont, they both cost 100

The Starpriest is listed in the Skirmish supplement at 16 renown, so has been adjusted by GW based on abilities, forthcoming points, or whatever reason that various units have slightly different renown values. The other has been worked out with the basic formula with no adjustment.
