Isn't the new FEC character just giving out extra attacks to ghouls? At 4/4/-/1 those attacks aren't that great, you'd need a boatload of them to do real damage. On the other hand the Bloodsecrator can give his extra attack to a Bloodthirster. Not saying Khorne couldn't use some help (I think Khorne's internal balance is out of wack) but you need to be careful with direct comparisons.

The spell is d3 extra attacks to any FEC unit. So dragons, horrors, flayers, ghouls - everything.

If you compare the FEC ability to a Blood Secrator that model should be at least 300 points.

A Blood Secrator is 140 points and this new model has an extra 6” of range, the ability to move with it and giving double the attacks (on average). To get just the extra range a Khorne player has to pay 200 points for Gorepilgrims and 100 for a priest to stay near him.

its worth considering that the bloodsecrator is a guaranteed +1 attack with no way of stopping it.

By comparison, the FEC ability has to be cast, and not dispelled, to actually work. I'd say you'll see him at the 180 point mark, but that's just a guess.  It's an awesome spell don' t get me wrong but it requires a few things go your way.

  3. I reckon it speaks perfectly to the madness and inflated ego of the Ghoul Kings that they would command their "subjects" break down their throne and bring it with them to each battlefield, so that they may better look down on the pathetic "lower classes"

I'll be interested to read the background for it. At the very least its an expansion of our lore, which I'm all for!

  4. I can't say I'm afraid.

As for the book and purchasing the book, I don't know when it'll drop - not until next year at the earliest. We've already got confirmation that moonclan are the next battletome, and looking at the releases we have confirmed that won't drop until next January at the very earliest

  5. Exactly. I can't imagine we'll see entire armies "redone" but we'll still get occasional updates to older models - like with the fiends and flesh-hounds in the new daemon box, with potentially dual build kits - like the eels as a recent example

I'd also hazard a guess that we'll see "new" models created by building older kits in alternate ways - like how Crypt Flayers came from merging crypt horrors and vargheists

Do people really believe GW will remake the older battletomes? I don't think so. IJ, Fyreslayers, Seraphon and more have their rules and objects in the General's Handbook every year.

I don't believe they will remake those battletomes instead of creating news for those armies which don't have one (Slaves, Free peoples, Slaanesh...) or invent a new army.

The new seraphon battletome has been more or less done for a while, bar minor tweaking and finding a slot in the release schedule. I don't know what (if any models) are being released with it - I would imagine endless spells and maybe a scenery piece (spawning pool perhaps) at a minimum.

In terms of the GHB allegiances, I'd argue that these are more of a stop gap solution between books and aren't intended as the final product. The fact that in 40k, the next Chapter approved has the "Beta" codex for sisters coming out would lend this creedence.

So yes, they will remake the battletomes as well as creating new factions and consolodating old ones. The fact that we've seen beasts combined and heard rumours of a combined destruction battletome for some time would back this up.

Plus - how many stormcast battletomes have we had so far? :P

  7. As best I could determine, the extra info we were receiving on Sunday was purely to do with Blackstone fortress.

With a 2 week pre order period for blackstone taking us right up to the end of november, along with the slaanesh and khorne box still awaited, I'd be surprised if we see any more about moonclan before that.

Best educated guess is moonclan for next january.

    Januwaaaaaaghry?

  8. Apologies if this has already been picked up, but have people any thought as to what this unit is? Spotted on teh malign portents website. The silhouette and weapons dont seem to tally with either the dracothian guard or vanguard palladors - the horns, hammers and the armour plates seem different. New mounted stormcast?

I'm here to get in on this awesome-looking AoS28 action! Some very creative conversions on display.

I recently decided to abandon my barely-started Flesh-Eater Courts army and turn the heroes into an AoS28 warband instead. So I've got a few conversions either completed or in the works already, but I wanted to add something brand new for Eclipse. This is obviously WIP, but couldn't resist sharing - I'm quite excited! Got a little backstory written up for him and everything, but I'll share that when he's finished.

EDIT: Also, and tips on building up the gore around the horse's neck would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot express how much I love this conversion. So grim and so true to their theme. Bravo sir!

  10. "The Carnivalia of the Crooked"

Once the chief jester in Neferata's court, Rasputin, also known as "The Crooked One" has fallen from his patron's good graces. Cast out into the wilds of Shysh, and disfigured by the cruel knives of the Silver Queen, he wanders the blood red sands of the red wastes, scavenging for scraps and subjugating those unlucky few to wander near this tortured soul. His mind broken, he hides his face behind his porcelain mask, the only relic of his former life. Those he bends to his will are forced to hide their faces from the world, their mirrored masks reflecting their masters mask and madness back at him, constantly reminding him of that which was cruelly taken from him. He has vowed vengeance upon his cruel mistress, and seeks the "Puppeteer's Strings" an ancient artifact powered by the unclaimed souls wandering the red wastes. With those unlucky wretches subjugated to his will in tow, Rasputin and his morbid "Carnivalia" travel the wastes in search of the legendary artifact and more "performers" for the troop. The show must go on, and Rasputin will ensure that his return to the royal court will be a night to remember...
