  1. Hey, new stormcast player here. I got a few questions regarding some units ( I'd love input)

    1. New big hero drakes, are they viable? They seem bit over costed, but not the worst thing ive seen.

    2.  Bastian, thought? Good, bad or ok. Please explain your thoughts!

    3. Greathammers, I'd like to run 6 as a hammer. Anyone used them and loved them? They seem good, but not seen them in many lists, why?

  2. So, just bought a whole new army and Katakros is the first model I painted. I wanted something "egypt themed" and went for a golden look with some blue and green colors. The ide is to paint this army up fairly quickly and this is the end result!

I would run Zandto for his reroll wound command ability depending on the Grand Alliance. I have found it to be very beneficial in past games.

For the deathriders, if you are using them to capture objectives run them as 2. This will allow you another RD roll. Of you want them in combat and need staying power, run them as ten.

Okey, thanks. Would you rate this  list as competitive?  Im new to this faction

  4. Hi! I'm trying to build my first OBR list with competitive intent. Would love some feedback in this one:

    Mortis pretorians

    Katakros

    Liege

    2x20 Mortek guard

    2x5 (or 10) deathriders

    2x crawlers

    1980p

I've thought about using Zantos instead of Liege but then I can not use the -3 rend artefact on a hero. I'm torn.

I can se value in both using the desthriders as 2x5 and 10. Would love some input regarding that if you prefer it one was from experience.

    Thank you in advance!

  5. Would this work well with Tempest eye? Would like some feedback

    1x Hurricanum with mage

    1x Anointed (General)

    1x Freeguild General

    1x Battle mage

    30x Pheonix Guard

    30x Pheonix Guard

    20x Handgunners

    20x Handgunners

    10x Shadow Warriors

    1x Soulscream Bridge

Basic ide is to teleport the 40 handgunners + General with bridge and delete something. Mass Guard to move up and hold objectives/kill stuff.

  6. I got a list in mind. Would love some feedback on it, Please tweak it if you think it can get better and would love to hear the best city to play it with.

    1x Hurricanum with mage

    1x Anointed (General)

    1x Freeguild General

    1x Battle mage

    30x Pheonix Guard

    30x Pheonix Guard

    20x Handgunners

    20x Handgunners

    10x Shadow Warriors

    1x Soulscream Bridge

I very much disagree with this. So take and test both arguments and see what works for you.
leadbelchers arent good shooters for their points. That’s true. But with their rend they are better than gluttons in many situations. (Remember re-roll fails happens before applying the rend).
So far for me 10 leadbelchers has been very good in combination with 12 gluttons. It gives you options. Something that can reach of screens and if need be can reach out from an objective.
so don’t play them as shooters but the same as your gluttons except get them after re-rolling save/high save enemies .

so for me a second big unit of gluttons has never felt like a good choice while 10 leadbelchers always paid for their points.

and yes for footsloggin  combat punch nothing beats ironguts. But those 10 leadbelchers will do around 20 wounds without shooting against those clanrats as well ;)

For me list 2 gives you the most options and would have my vote. Although personally I wouldn’t go for a skal but a Goremand. Makes the slaughtermaster a  more reliable buff piece. Does mean dropping 2 sabres. So 6 and 4 division?
That’s pretty much my list which has been great fun and pretty successful so far.

I agree with you that belchers are Good! Nice utility unit.

    Thanks for the input! But...

Correct me if i'm wrong, but does'nt your recommended change come out at 2020p? Please share the list you mean! 😄

if so, maybe just go for one unit of 8 cats with the hunter?

I know that FoS are amazing! Just want to try out things that looks fun and still maintaine some "teeth" atleast!

    Hello,

For competitive list i think i will go for 1 pack of 2 mournfang pack to include skal batalion + more cats (screen or taking objectif) + 1 more cp + 1 more artefact.

Personnaly, if i go for Boulderhead tribs i don't like eurlbad.

2 FoS (1 etheral + metalcruncher and 1 brand of the Svard + black Catterhorns)

1 hunter (general with lords of beast trait)

1 butcher with ribcracker + balewind vortex

    8 ironguts

    6 cats + 2x4 cats + 2x2 cats (screen /objectif)

    Skal batalion

Looks cool. Have you tried it?

Oh missed that! True that indeed. Point hungry army indeed. I’ll have a think. But @Kadeton might be right. You might need to start from scratch.
check the rol of every unit. 12 Ogors are great and the offer board control and staying power. Ironguts less so but more punch. Same goes for the non eatheral stone horn. So do you drop something there? Or just duck out of  magic all together? Because as a buff piece the slaughtermaster is quite expensive and as a wizard the classic combo butcher on balewind is better.

My best smashlist so far is:

Butcher, ethereal stonehorn, 10 leadbelchers, 8 ironguts, 12 ogors, in butcher band and a balewind.
two drops, 140 wounds, 1960 points. Still undecided on spending the remaining 40 on 2 sabre tusks for screening and objective grabbing, extra endless spell or just fish for the triumph.

but honestly if we play a ‘competitive’ game I always start my list building with a hunter and 4 cats and go from there. Most fun thing from a gameplay perspective and arguably the most worthwhile as well.

I also have love for the cats! I'm trying to make  a eurlbad list + hunter/Sabers.

What do you think about this?

(Or anyone else on the forum aswell, of course!)

    Leaders:

    Other:

    8x Sabers

    Battalion:

    Eurlbad

    2k on the nose!

  11. I have a list in mind and would like some input. I'm not looking for ultra competitive, but something with teeth atleast. Anyone tried something similiar?

  12. Hi everyone. So i've read through the forum and the thought of buying 3x SC BCR sounds to good to be true for a good 2k army.

What variants of this type of list has been successful competitivly? just curious! anyone tried it, what is the general playstyle/tactic?

Would love to hear from poeple with some experience! :)

    Cheers!

    Options:

    The Darkling Coven:
    2 Sorceress on Foot
    2x 20 Darkshards
    30 Black Guard

This army gives you great mobility, as the sorceress's allow you to run and still shoot/charge with any darkling coven unit (though it does cost a command point).  Note with the darkshards, this means that they have a minimum 11" move (6+3 from tempest eye + 2 from run and hornblower), alongside a 16" shooting range, for a minimum of 27" range with their bolts turn 1.  Black guard meanwhile have a 11" move + 2d6+1" charge, for a minimum of 14", but an average of 21" threat range on turn 1.  Make one sorceress the general with the +1 to wound at range trait, the other the adjutant, and give one of them the spell that gives you a command point, and the other the spell that gives +1 attacks in melee.

    The Fortress:
    2 Runelords
    1 Celestial Hurricanum with Battlemage
    20 Irondrakes
    10 longbeards
    10 ironbreakers

This army is built around the fact that you can have a block of 20 irondrakes that are hitting on a 2+ (hurricanum), potentially with re-rolls due to the command trait, wounding on a 2+ (tempest eye command trait), re-rolling 1's because of the longbeards, and then hitting with rend 3 (rend 1 buffed twice with the runelords).  This has them doing an average of ~40 wounds if they don't move, 20 if they do (and that is do a 4+ save or worse).  Meanwhile the longbeards and ironbreakers are there to screen you with their 3+ saves.

    Freeguild Detachment:
    1 Freeguild General
1 Luminark of Hysh with Battemage
    40 Freeguild Guard
    3x 10 Handgunners
50 points for a command point or endless spell

This army uses the fact that the general can buff all 3 units of handgunners at once, and they can be hitting on 2+/2+ with the command ability and not moving (plus 3 30" range -1 rend 2 damage shots from the sharpshooters).  The guard are there to screen, and the Luminark gives some spell power, a 6+ shrug aura, and some more ranged damage.

There are a lot more potential builds that you can run with tempest eye (much less cities of sigmar).  Realistically, for 1000 points I would tell you to look for you to decide what battleline unit (which is most of the non-war machine/monster units) you like the best, and then build around that unit.  Figure out what that unit wants to do, and what role it plays, and then give it the support that it needs to shine.

    Maybe a elf-themed army?

    1x anointed (general)

    1x mage

    2x 20 Phoenix Guard

    10x Shadow Warriors

    Geminids

  16. I'm curious! Got a question...

What do you think of Arkhan? How valuable is he as a Hero for the bonereapers? Thinking about getting him!

    Think about this list:

    Arkhan

    Liege

    Mason

    3x 20 Guard

    Shield corps

(Last 400 points, either 6x stalkers or Crawlers)

Please share your thoughts on this list and Arkhan! 🎲

I'm sure it'd be decent mate but I think 40 10 10 is better than 20 20 10 as that 40 is just so, so good. You're also splitting what you have to maintain those buffs on as to buff 2x20 to have reroll saves is 4cp a round, whereas to buff the 40 is just 2 (which you get for free with the battalion)

The battalion feels to me like 3rdp a turn for 120pts, plus lowers your drops so I wouldn't want to drop it.

Having said that though mate none of us have likely played enough games to, "figure out" what the best is, so go for it and let us know what your experiences are and we can all benefit 😊

In my experience when a big nasty unit charges the 20 they might kill say 10-15 and your return punch is neutered. If they kill 10-15 of your 40, they're very, very likely to just die in return from the other 25-30 guard with 50-60 rend 2 attacks.

If nothing else that massively changes how they play the game as they can't really take on that 40 at all in combat.

Yeah, i'll try your and mine! Thanks for the reply 👌
