I really do love the new book for its options - not just that it really encourages creativity, but also that it's a fantastic that there isn't a terrible or too good unit in the book. Everything feels like you can experiment with it, and that's brilliant - even the units I've been a bit dissapointed in, it's never been because they're really bad, they're just not quite as creative as the other ones.

It's definitely a book everyone will have to experiment with. I was really impressed with Twinsouls recently - they tanked (and hurt) squigs really well.

I've heard a handful of people saying that the Blissbarb Archers are too good. Time will tell though I suppose! I'm enjoying the new book!

i will enjoy playing 2-3 khemist and 15 thunderers with 3 morters and 3 canons. Im thinking in try 2-3 navigators too :P

I was excited about multiple navigators at first too, but then I realised their "read the winds" ability says "In your hero phase, 1 friendly unit that can use this ability will read the winds."

Essentially meaning regardless of how many you have you can only read the winds with one of them. :( Still an amazing and fun ability though!

  3. I’m glad they finally address the DOK battle tactics. I always get a lot of dirty looks for how easy they were to achieve for how many points they would net. Now they just need to make Morathi’s command ability for combat only and that would address a lot of the DOK grievances, but they are hardly the top dogs anymore anyhow.

  4. With how incredibly variable the new Rockgut Troggoth kit is, I bet they could do an incredible job with a duel Yhetee/Gorger box and turn gorgers into a unit like in total war Warhammer. A lean muscled frame, with head and weapon swaps and fur patches that sit right on the frame. That and a plastic butcher would be a dream come true! I have a creeping suspicion that the hunter is all we will see though.

The true shame of it is that all three (Gitz, Ogres, and Giants) desperately need new battletomes. Maybe they should write better Destruction tomes and stop constantly thinking of them as the "lolrandomisfun" allegiance.

I don’t know if SoB “desperately” need a new tome. Of the three they are the ones that don’t need it. They are in the top 5 for win percentage since the new GHB. Mawtribes and Gloomspite are in the BOTTOM five for win percentage.

That’s not even mentioning the problem of how many people are using 3d prints for mega gargants. That’s never good for the lifespan of an army, ask Legion of Azgorh players. They would have to seriously diversify the army in a new book.

FS and KO are winning events just as much as DoK are from what I can see. DoK yes are winning more games over all but its close enough that you should have balanced games, the problem is that not every unit is equal and you might need to play with something you normally are not, like Purple Sun in your Jar.

There are about 9 in our group, all kinds of different armies. I play Fyreslayers main with KO allies, so no spells in bottles for me! We are mostly trying to help out a friend to understand some better lists/builds/strats. I read Zainthar Kai snake builds are doing really well. Just curious of what has people shouting that they are too strong so we can pass the word along.

  7. So at this point I am basically looking for some insight. I play Fyreslayers/KO and one of the members of our play group plays DOK and loses a LOT more often than winning.

We keep seeing a lot of talk online that DOK is the top dog of 3.0 along with Nurgle/Nighthaunt, and we are trying to help said member improve their playstyle/army a bit.

What specifically is making DoK dominate in your opinion? Is it the ease of achieving the Battle Tactics/Grand Strategy? Snakes+Morathi?

  8. My assassin army I’ve always wanted. Added some elements to help it work. Won’t win any games but I’ll have a lot of fun teleporting around the board the entire game.

I bring the latest rumour engine: tG3FyX9aTo25JN8I.jpg.58a02b021c7982cf757bb62e031387ee.jpg

As an alternative, what if this is a banner pole, and the mace end is actually the end of the banner cross section and this is someone's arm chained up with perhaps their back flayed and presented like below. So maybe Kruleboyz or Slaves to Darkness? Its just such an awkward pose for that to be a weapon being wielded IMHO. image.png.6617cbc0f4685d9e37debe33e9663a3b.png

  10. I have to say that I am not entirely sure I understand the vitriolic bandwagon over this. It’s not incredible obviously but people are talking like it has upended AOS.

I assumed from the outset that the “hunt” is a seasonal change only as it’s themed to the realm of beasts, and therefore temporary until a new season hits. It also shows that they are aware of most of the problematic units and so when the next GHB comes out it will likely be addressed then.

  11. Give me a gigadroth, squig sized Magmadroth hatchlings goaded into battle by duardin, rune covered magma golems controlled by runemasters and Magmadroth chariots. That will fill out fyreslayers beautifully.

I hope not, Grungni returning is fine and all, but keep him away from Kharadron.

Ironweld and Disposessed could work though.

I'm 100% with you. Part of why I love Kharadron is because they are very anti-standard dwarf. Very progressive, ingenuity and science focused, eschewing the gods because they abandoned them, etc. It's a cool spin.

I not sure if this been mention before but looking at the Hobgrot product description has a direct name drop of Hashut

I am ESPECIALLY happy for this as I was terrified they intended to roll them up into Slaves to Darkness and chaos undivided. Bring on the Chaos Dwarfs of old with Greenskin slaves!! I don't know if anyone remembers me but I am a long time Chaos Dwarf nut. I made the Spell Cards on the Chaos Dwarf forum that practically everyone was using for the Tamurkhan Chaos Dwarfs.
