I believe the guy from Doom and Darkness is taking them to Cancon in January, which will be the biggest AoS tournament ever played.

Yeah I have been checking out the battle reports posted by him on youtube but have a hard time telling if the lists are competitive or not.

And it’s a shame... they really were fun to field and delivered. Of course against a 3+ save it’s tough.

just finished the corpse cart, thinking about a relativly pure old school necromancer army...

I can understand that 40 Skeletons are popular for example. But I'm going for a pirate theme and Zombies just fits in better.

Sooo, got a nice friendly game in. Trying out a bunch of stuff against a Wrath of Khorne/Blood Reaver List. After rolling for Places of Arkane Power, my 4 mages were just declared victorious and the Sermon of Khorne was initiated.

1500 points LoB: Coven Throne (aura of dm, orb of enchantment, vile t.), Prince V (pinions), Vamp (fly, orb), necromancer (dread), 60zombers, 3x5 wolves

After he embarrassed himself by not charging first turn helterskelter, I took, strategically stupid, the 1/2 double to superbuff my zombers (vamp+1A,coven rr1h/w/s) and show him how Khorne needs to be praised. sadly my necromancer fumbled the dance, but they still went in there like Hollywood Movies promise. Stupid reaver dissolved, pile in positioning madness to reduce casualties but still bind his whole army in the bog. Reasoning was, if they get deleted...resummon. Doggies went flanking and charge blocking.

The rest of turned into a mess, with the zombers slowly but surely munching through his whole army, the -2 bravery debuff doing work. Only sad sidenote after prince V bravely but stupidly charged a korgoth and mighty lord (totally pulped them) the wrath of Khorne bloodthirster joined the fray. As general, kitted out as herokiller (2x+1dmg) the flail and the axe just one shotted the poor guy. Wrong placement, that was, what the coven was supposed to do, but they just chilled the whole game, because Zombers everywhere ?

After the fourth round (feeding the vamp lord to the Bt) we quit, but staged the fight Bt vs Coven... Spoilers: not a good idea.

    His MVP: totally devastating Bloodthirster

My MVP: 60cal Zombermob, still had like 35 left and they brawled with 2/3 of the army

last thoughts: bought a corpse waggon, Prince V needs a second change...

I was playing around with another list today. It included 60 Zombies :) Don't see that very often anymore.

I dont see why you would have to drop the Gavespawn for that ? I mean they are Brayherd so you dont need to run Darkwalkers (and Allherd is just ....yeah we do not speak of Allherd :D )

I mean Tzaangors and Enlightened both can benefit massively since they have 2 different weapon types, so that +1 does add on a lot.

But I if you run the disc version, then yeah, I suppose it makes sense, since they would outrun the Spawns in one turn.

...Its kinda weird that our monster things cant benefit from Darkwalkers. I mean Spawn and Razorgors.... if they could ambush, things might get even more interesting.

**I havent read the batt. rep yet guys. What gave  re-rolls are we talking about, and what gave it to them ?

(I dont have the time to read the whole thing, so I am asking out of curiosity,  in case we have access to more re-rolls other than just the Brass Despoilers. But since these are TZAANgors they can be taken in BD battalion.)

Well that's true :) Bad choice of words from my part. My Gavespawn list was Bestigor, Gor and Ungor heavy. Not Tzeentch as I'm leaning towards now.

  5. I have chosen Kharadron overlords as my main army even though they seem to be in the worst spot right now. But I have own most of the armies that was around before AOS 2 and yet never felt satisfied. And Kharadron overlords have something that I value higher than the fact that they aren't a competitive army. And that is character. They have amazing models,  great theme and I can't praise the fluff enough. And I am more a painter than a competitive player so that is also a big part of my choice.

  6. I don't have many light skyhooks and dont like the conversions from other guns with pointy bits stuck in it. Trollhammer torpedos I like but can't get 15 of them either... So I am going to try minimum sized units of Arkanaut company and use more Thunderers and Endrinriggers. Buff the Thunderers with Khemist and see how it goes.

  7. In a 1000 point game, would you rather play:

    Volturnos

    Tidecaster

    6 x Morrsarr guard

    3 x Morrsarr guard

    3 x Ishlaen guard

    Or

    Volturnos

    Tidecaster

    10 x Thralls

    10 x Thralls

    3 x Morrsarr guard

    3 x Ishlaen guard

and other suggestions are appreciated :)

In my club we don't play much AOS anymore, but I heard that my Kharadron Overlords might not be in a good spot anymore. No magic means no living spells, and the changes to shooting at characters also hits us hard.  Are there any tips for a possible come-back to the game? Or should I just continue collecting my Stormcast Eternals?

Honestly. I would go for Kharadron overlords. Why? Because they have the best models if you ask me :) Stormcast eternals must be THE most popular army of AoS. Many play them, and few use Kharadron overlords in comparison. Might be fun to be best of the worst.

I think for what the Ironclad can do and the punishment it can take, the Ironclad is a better option.  with the spare 100 points, you could up your Thunderers.

There is no "generally" speaking superior list at the moment. We know that the Light Skyhooks and Endrinriggers are staples but the delivery system depends mainly on the point size of the game. At 1000 pts, definitely consider dropping boats altogether or at least 1 Frigate. At 2000 pts, if you want to go boat heavy, an Ironclad flanked by Gunhaulers works as you can keep your distance and try gunning down the enemy with Range 24" guns (with the Flagship abilities, you hopefully get better chances at hitting).

    Ok thank you :)

  10. Generally speaking. Are two frigates better than one Ironclad? And is it worth using minimum sized units of Arkanaut company. I don't have extra Light skyhooks. Thinking of using 10 Thunderers, 12 Endrinriggers, 3 x 10 Arkanaut company, 1 Admiral, 2 Khemists and either 2 Frigates or 1 Ironclad. If I take the Ironclad I have 100 spare points. Two frigates leaves 40 points.
