Just wondering what units work
best with a maggotkin army from the rest of the chaos range?
For instance chariots, knights etc to add some more speed or marauders for bodies work ? Or plague monks ?

Hi guys
Me and my partner have started painting together. I’ve painted models for years for warhammer/aos/40k. While she has painted models but more air fix/scifi ones. However what has spurred this on was some family members started in the hobby over Xmas.
i have a few various armies I like, while my partner pretty much likes all things death and some of the chaos models mainly Slaanesh and Tzeench.
she is currently painting what looks like essentially a whole night haunts army while I’m doing stormcast/orruks.
hopefully use this to show our progress in future

I ask because my Partner is thinking of starting the army and likes various models through the death range, and I don’t have much experience with the death armies.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Is there any benefit from bringing other units into a night haunts army from the other death armies ?
If so what are the units best to do so with and how ?
-
No not necessarily

I wondering what the most useful setup people use for ungors is as i cant decide.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Another model nearly bar face and some blood on the axe and claw as it is Khorne after all.

Looking good

You could do the highlights like you did but shade after thereby toning it all down. Could dilute the shade so its not as strong over the hightlights but brings it closer to the other parts. Nuln oil would be good as well.

I think its not so much whites you want but cream working up from a light brown to cream/beige colour and white being the last hightlight colour
Contrast paint would help you doing the stones etc set on the armour. Wraithbone and snakebite leather/Contrast medium around the edges to shae armour may work but would be very fiddly and may need lots of touch ups where the armour has been stained by the Snakebite..

I get why some people think this is a good idea, but honestly its a bad to odd idea.
Leaving bits on the sprue so you can paint them better is a bit odd to me because:
1) You can't clean mould lines off easily/at all when the parts are on the sprue. Even if you do clean them off its going to take you a lot longer and its far more difficult - esp if the sprue is somewhat large. So you're taking so much time to improve the painting, but you're leaving a mould line on every single bit! Brand new castings from a fresh mould (ergo new models) you might get away with as the mould lines can be fairly reduced on them, but its still and issue.
2) You're going to get big blank chunks of plastic exposed on every single bit when you clip them off. If you then scrape clean those areas now you've got little patches you've got to repaint. If you've done multiple layers you've created a nightmare for yourself. Basically you've saved no time and created more problems for yourself.
Totally agree. The only time it may be of any use is on very large models like tanks where the sides will usually be hidden but doesn't really apply to AOS.

Just go dark metal with blood splatter and corrosion on the armour, and you could pretty much cover all things then.
Could always put a magnet on Std to change out standard depending on which mark used.
-
Some people leave heads off models to make it easier to paint the armour etc to avoid continuous touch ups.
Its hard to say how to paint sub assemblies as every model is different. Infantry models are probably easiest ..shields, heads and arms but also sometimes put them on the base after as well.
Cavalry Mount and rider and treat rider like an infantry model but again with the mount don't base it until after.
Some people even start painting parts on the sprue, but ive always found that hard myself when cutting the model out of the sprue.

Will do.
Any plans to do a youtube vid of how you do your chaos warriors?

This is my test mini for my bestigors, and I’m thinking khorne. I’m thinking I need to add some blood splatter to it for a better look.

Why would you go with untamed beasts over the other warbands?
