but the fact that a lot of them will be resin really puts me

You say fact. But as far as I know that hasn’t been confirmed. so not a fact but speculation.

but yeah if that turns into reality it would be such a step back. Like the went, lets bring back the old world. I know then also bring back the old production ways 😂

  2. In the fb group there are several people who have build amazing versions of the board with high walls and raised the platforms etc.
One, I can’t find it right now, 3D printed the walls and some scatter terrain. But in the painting he did OSL for every little lamp and lava glow. It looked amazing.

    edit: found them

Painted up a shattered Stormvault a while ago as well. Seemed to paint up quickly with drybrushing and contrast paints. I got to experiment with fluorescent paints for the flames.

I assume it'd have space to put in the stuff that gets added when you play champion mode, i.e injuries and territories. It's not like there isn't room to do it on the regular sheet, I'd just like not to have to write in the margins, rather keep it neat.

Yeah fair point. This was the only one I could find on there. Different source, open this link and in the comments someone shares one that looks slightly different

I´m afraid that the project is already doomed to frustration by the community from day one. People currently hype it and create expectations. There is no way GW will satisfy everyone. The more GW heats the hype train, the more frustration we will see day one. All could be stopped/prevented with a simple design manifesto, telling us what the heck we are actually about to expect

It worked for the lady space marines I think? (Forgot the name sorry about that)

I'm really curious how they plan to go about Old World. I'm not particularly interested in it as a game, but as a business model. Do they really plan to support three giant wargames in addition to their smaller skirmish games? Will it have as much or less focus than 40k or AoS? How much will it split the player base? How many new models are they going to push for it specifically? All questions we can't answer right now, but are all similarly important.

I also think Old World lovers are going to hype themselves into the grave when it doesn't live up to impossible expectations.

To the second part I fully expect the same.

to the first we can only speculate. But what happened when they did the whole Horus heresy thing?
Did I read it right that GW is ‘reclaiming’ forgeworld in some way?
could it just be that, forgeworld models but with backing of GW. At least marketing wise.

If they ever release a Lumineth Warcry band I’ll also look into that (besides the “normal” one we have already). Looks fun and playing something which can be set up relatively easy and be done with in an hour or so has advantages : )

Well you can play the whole Lumineth army (except Teclis, the hollow suit, and the big cow monsters) in Warcry. And those sylvaneth she's painting all have rules as well. If you buy the Sentinals of Order book. You have the rules, and quests for both. The only thing you really need thenis the core rulebook if you have terrain already. Then you're ready to go. But working through the catacombs book... it's much better value then I thought. But a big investment regardless of value.

What I like more about it then Underworlds is that its more freeform in its movement. And therefore closer to a wargame. But those look amazing. Maybe a small lumineth warband then..... #ICaveTooEasy

Quick question: It says in the Tome of Champions 2019 that there is a warband roster specifically for champion mode to be downloaded on the Warcry website, but I can't find it, nor does it seem to be in the downloads section on the community page. Anyone know if/where this roster can be found?

    Do you mean this one?

What do you need extra on the sheet for the champions mode btw?

good job, that makes you the first to finish your tale right?

For me it will take at least one more month, but with the finish at sight, I start thinking also about the next thing. Funny that it probably looks much the same as yours. Couldn't resist the latest Warcry warbands, so ordered a bunch (the first plastic I  purchase this year), but like you I also have an Ogre army waiting for me to be painted.

Aint we just soul mates 😂
This was a good reminder. Tomorrow I’m basing them. It’s dumb to stop that close to the finish line.

Regarding Warcry. Having so much fun with it. Really enjoy painting different things. My idoneth warband is the brightest and blue’est group of models I ever painted. And already I’m painting my first Orruk test model. Never painted a green skin before.
And the gaming is also fun. Had three games now. I’m getting convinced I need to get some OG warbands for pick up games though. So that’s next after the orruk warband. Even painted terrain this month.

The goal is to have a balanced game

I still doubt this is the primary goal of GW though.
They even went on record saying they design the models first, then write fluffy rules and finally they playtest and adjust.

how much of that is marketing talk I don’t know. But it fits the end result.

Theme speaking, I'd preferred if Vampire Counts were a distinct list, separate from LoN.

Im guessing that they will become so as soon as the vampire range is a bit bigger and more distinct. Probably through a white dwarf update.

Just been catching up with this thread am and curious about something.  Do people think that we're making our own lives difficult because we're using a digital tool to create our lists rather than going old school and using a pen and paper?  A huge amount of the issues I've had in the past with writing 40k lists has actually been the tool rather than the process of writing the list.

It’s more that GW represents it as a complete product instead of a support tool.
even with simple stuff like Warcry people argue that things are/aren’t possible because it’s in varanscribe.

people drop common sense and trust the system over their own understanding. If the systems were foolproof and more structured that would be okay though.
for example is I choose a subfaction all other subfaction artefacts disappear it would help limit my choices and therefore make it impossible to make a mistake.

That is true - and could explain it, but here's another question: if another faction is to come out before Slaanesh, why aren't their units in the new Warcry book?  I'm assuming the Slaanesh models were included for the same reason SoB were in the GHB - the release was so close (or even meant to be before the GHB release). I would assume that any faction meant to be released before Slaanesh would have also been included in Warcry

If they were that far out, they just wouldn’t have included them in the Warcry book.

Why would Slaanesh be in the Warcry book, but not Death or Shadow Aelves, if they were coming before Slaanesh?

Because due to lead time we’re still not getting into releases developed in COVID times. So who knows what happened to the original plan.

usually, from memory at least, campaign books are released during summer. Wouldn’t surprise me if we were supposed to be a two books in by now.

But you might be right. It’s a better argument, than that’s how it works at least ;)

. Of course, Warcry would have spoiled the existence of some units, but they'd have no reason to show Sigvald (who's not in Warcry) if they weren't planning on releasing him for a year later.

    Marketing is a good reason.

Showing sigvald builds way more hype, rather than that little icon photo's article.

  15. 1 hour ago, Still-young said:

That’s not how it works. They wouldn’t show Slaanesh stuff, and then release whole new armies before releasing Slaanesh at the end of the series of campaign books.

haha tell me how you the rules GW play by then ;)

IMO: They only showed the units because they had to as they were in the GA Chaos book for warcry. That's why we got the little round pictures of them (as they are shown in the warcry 'warscrolls'). Not the full model pictures.

I wouldn't be surprised that if they didn't have to do that, they also would not have yet shown Sigvald. Because introducing a new faction with only those little icons would be bad marketing. Rather get the hype going with a full centrepiece instead of the whole range except the centrepiece.

I think it is impossible to say, but it is clear that things have fallen behind. I think that what we can infer is that a new edition was likely in the summer at the end of Broken Realms but now we are even less sure about that as things are releasing at a strange rate. The Slaanesh Warcry reveal is a perfect example of how strange the release windows have become.

On a side note I am very excited for tomorrow's rumour engine advent picture.

Its mostly that GW had this structure for 40k leading up to an edition shift as well.

personally I’m with you. I can’t image aos needing such big changes it warrants an edition change.
on the other hand it will inevitably garner a lot of excitement and with that sales.

the only I would want from a 3.0 is if they could reverse the power creep. 2+ rerollling saves battleline that redeploys before the game start is just no fun. Just like 1+ unrendable save monsters.
