  1. Hey everyone,

Looking forward to the tournament this weekend! I had hoped to be taking my Fyreslayers along however a combination of staff sickness, end of year accounts and other boring things means I won't have my army done in time. However I should be around doing some hobby stuff.

We are in the process of moving to a new website so have a new updated ticket link: https://athenagames.com/collections/event-tickets/products/age-of-sigmar-the-titans-tournament-5th-may

Don't worry if you have already bought it a ticket, we already have you down!

Hi Jamie, unfortunately things have gone mental at work and I'm not going to be able to attend. Apologies and I hope you have a great event

Sorry to hear that! Although it has all gone a bit mental here as well with the release of new edition of 40K as well so completely understand!

  3. Right, sorry for being quiet recently! My brother has been ill which meant double the work for me!

Here is the 1st version of the rules pack, we may still make sure tweaks if we feel like there is something broken (Things like Tzeentch destiny dice):

Tickets are also available from the website:

For the battle traits does that mean 2 identical armies cannot benefit from a heroes ability like say me and my mate take the new kharadons we can't benefit from the same navigator?

That is correct, this is one rule we weren't sure about however because you can mix Grand Alliances between team mates, we weren't sure if this would potentially create something broken so having heroes only help their own Force rather than the whole Army seemed safest.

    Hi,

Please can you sign up Ollie Fox and Ben Mardle for this!

    Cheers,

    Ben

Tickets will be up soon for this event, however I will reserve a space for you both for now :).

@Jamie Grinstead Just curious, what was the choice behind not having command abilities affecting your team mates units? Seems like it removes more tactical thought than it adds or am i missing something that is exploitable?

So to me, it seemed to be a trade off... I believe you could either have that both players must use the same Grand Alliance or just restrict the command abilities. Thematically I feel it fits as well, something that works on, say, orruks wouldn't necessarily work on humans.

I am not saying that the ruleset that we have is in any way perfect for this one and I am expecting to may be have to make some house rules for a few things, such as around double Tzeentch armies and their destiny dice as an example.

Good news - I'm definitely back from the Poland wedding.

Bad news - I'm on another stag do (for a chap that's already married!!!)

A few of the EATBATS boys should be coming to the doubles and I'll be looking to attend the singles in August!  Good luck with the event and chuck some photos on twitter on the day so I can follow the fun!

    Jimbo

You can't have a stag do if you are already married... Seems a bit backwards!

Awesome sounds good. I will be playing in this one however will throw up some pictures when I can!

P.S Sorry for the late reply to everyone, I was away at a demo event for Runewars (An upcoming FFG game).

Battles are not just won by a single being, it is achieved by a group working together to achieve an overall goal. This is what the Orthrus tournament is here to honour as we welcome you to take part in a team based Age of Sigmar tournament.

Each player in a team must select an army based upon the “Preparing Your Doubles Army” in our rules document. Only Warscrolls and Warscroll battalions with a Pitched Battle profile may be used in this event. The most recent Warscroll for a character or unit must be used.

All models must be fully painted and based on either square or round bases. If you have a model which is unfinished then we will politely ask you to remove it from the table.

You can find the approximate schedule for the event below.

    8:30am Doors Open

Argh!?! Better hurry up and get me some of those fancy new dwarves in store bud! How does preordering work with Athena? Do I need to come in store and put down a deposit or anything?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tell me about it! Going to be getting some of those dwarfs myself.

Just drop us a message when the preorders for them come out and I will pop you down for it. No need to pay until the stuff comes out. The only things we can't typically get are the webstore exclusive collectors books that they sometimes do with releases.

Event pack was clear and included at the relevant information required although I seem to remember I couldn't work out how to buy a ticket until someone told me on TGA.

I will be sure to make that part more clear next time!

I would suggest putting table numbers out so you can tell each match up which number table they are on rather than you having to point at each table.  Maybe also projector to smart TV to put the draw onto to save you having to bellow?

We do have table numbers for card game tournaments, however I couldn't get those to work for the miniatures format. I will work this out for the next tournament! With table numbers pairings can then just be posted on a wall to allow people to find their game that way.

    2 hours ago, Jimbo said:

I would have more scenery on the tables.

Completely agree, more scenery would be nice and I will arrange for the next tournament. I am an old school Fantasy player so I probably didn't allow enough scenery :P.

    2 hours ago, Jimbo said:

Table mats are nice too - would be great to see them on all the tables rather than just the top few but I appreciate there is a cost associated with providing them.

I do have some more mats arriving, alas they didn't make it in time for this tournament however they should be here for the next one!

Thanks for all the feedback Jimbo, it is certainly really useful.

I have a couple of questions that I am also hoping to get some feedback on.

A couple of our prizes involves voting, now whilst I don't believe it really happened in this tournament, there is always some concerns that a group of players could influence the vote. Is there anything that we could do to improve the way voting is done?

Also if you were planning a doubles tournament, would you say that both players must use the same Grand Alliance or are they fine to use different Grand Alliances?

  10. So I have popped together a quick feedback form and would appreciate if you could answer it. You can find that here.

If you have some comments that either don't fit in the form or you just want to pop them down here or message them to me then that would be great. Feedback can be about anything from scenery, scenarios, need to have painted models or even about the facilities!

  11. Thanks for coming along to our first Age of Sigmar tournament! 16 was a great turnout for our first tournament and I am glad you have all had a great time.

I will put a post up in the next couple of days asking for any feedback.

We will definitely be holding more events in the future. Finally, I just want to thank you all for making it a great day... The way you all approached your games was in great spirit and it was good to see more experienced tournament players helping newer players.

With regards to playing the same army all day in the rules. Does that include the use of the same artifacts and command traits? Or can these be changed dependent on the scenario played?

Yes, it will be the same artifacts and command traits all day. This is to encourage taking a more balanced force rather than being able to tailor a bit to each scenario.

We are at 16 tickets sold so far I believe, however expecting a few more in the week leading up!

Cannot wait for this event. Will be my first tournament and am very much looking forward to playing against some different armies and meeting other gamers.

Anyone know how long it will take to walk from St. Andrews car park to Athena?

St Andrews is really close by, you can almost see St Andrews from our front door!

Are you requiring all models completely painted or will being based with 3 colours be ok? I'm struggling with this 100+ horde and really don't want to just rush it all

Based with 3 colours will be fine :-)

Are you asking for lists ahead of time or on the day? Thanks for clarifying on the Fyreslayers pts, on the positive side it means I have a little less to panic paint. Looking forward to this event and meeting you all.

Lists are going to be fine to hand in on the day. In future events, we may ask for them in advance however that will be once we work out how best to stream/record the games.

Are new SCE book points/scrolls/abilities in play for this event?

Pity about the Fyreslayerz ruling would be good to see some of them on the table

I am sure that Fyreslayers will get their time, especially if the points cost will give them a boost!

Yes, the new Stormcast Eternals book will be used in this tournament.

  17. You have all made some great points about this and we have been discussing it today as well. We have decided NOT to use the playtest points.

Whilst we are sure that Games Workshop has done testing on these new points costs before releasing them, we have not been able to test how balanced the new points costs are.

Also whilst I feel for the stumpies, we were also worried about people not seeing or checking an updated rules pack (even if sent to those who have tickets directly) and didn't want someone having a bad experience on the day because their army wasn't playable or if their army could have been better.

Sorry if this disappoints anyone hoping to bring the Fyreslayers.

Can I ask is the trial GHB pts in play or the actual GHB pts? Im playing Fyreslayers so makes a big difference to my list. Cheers

That is a good question! I can see the huge difference it makes to Fyreslayers and I did always feel they were overcosted, however we hadn't actually considered using them for our tournament. I will come back to you tomorrow about that as I want to discuss it with event staff before making a ruling. What do you all think of those point changes anyhow?
