  1. Simplify it back to how it was when the original Generals Handbook came out, it's getting too rules heavy. I do like some of the new stuff they've introduced but I miss the faster pace of when I got into the game.

I also have to point out that: I love rolling for initiative every turn! It makes the game more fun and less predictable.

  2. Besides not getting to play in my local games shop, because of Covid-19, I'm really happy with where AoS is. I feel like new stuff is constantly coming out and I'm not ready for a new edition. I think things are doing really good with the ruleset we have and GW only needs to add more armies and keep things steady. The story just picked up with Broken Realms Morathi and I'm really looking forward to the new Slaanesh mortals. Thanks to Warcry and Underworlds I have small sets of almost every army, and thanks to the pandemic I actually have time to paint my minis.

  3. I bought it.

Did the math on how much it'll probably cost to buy the half I don't already own and it'll cost about the same as the boxed set.

Looking forward to building the Shadowstalkers! and checking out the Catacomb rules.

  4. I discovered Warhammer through Age of Sigmar, when it launched, and loved everything about the game. I have 6 full 2000 point armies and most of the books.

It baffled me that some people didn't like the game and most of the stuff they criticized  was just plain wrong (like Stormcast being empty suites of armor, when in the first book that came out they have 2 Stormcast leaders talking to each other with their helmets off).  But the people at my local gaming store where on board with the new game and the new system so  there was no vitriol from  toxic Warhammer Fantasy "fans" (like the people burning their armies online).  2 of the guys at my store had been on MiniWarGaming YouTube battle reports in the past. In them found a small community that was inviting and excited to learn the new system.  There were only 8 guys when I joined and one of them owned the store, but we grew to around 12 by the time I moved to Florida, 2 years later.  More people were interested once the Generals Handbook came out and honestly the game has just gotten better and better. I especially love the fact that even though GW has added a bunch of new rules and stuff it's all pretty much choose what you want to use to play.  I still demo the game with the original 4 page rules.

Anyway GW is working on a new game called Warhammer: The Old World, it might be a return to the style of Warhammer Fantasy or it might be something new...

Hey, i heard nearly the same things about the campaign from other Guys.
Is there some requirement for the Warbands with which you face off against the nighthaunt? Or can i pick just some heros and units which i like?
Sorry if that's a stupid question, but i only found the rules for the Nighthaunt part and what to use for the "enemies" but not the rules for putting together a Warband.

So, how did you adjust your warband? Did you go pointwise after the GHB, or do you just took what you like to play?

At minimum you just pick a hero with less than 10 wounds, they recommend playing with 3 hero's if playing solo or 4 heroes if playing co-op (2 each). It's all on the first page of the download...

You know, the free Nighthaunt mini campaign.

I picked out an Exalted Deathbringer, Ogroid Myrmidon and Ogroid Thaumaturge as my warband. Dusted off my Nighthaunt army and picked out the required mini's. Got my Battletomes ready and set up everything to play.

I played through 14 rounds without getting hit, around half of my exploration rolls were for treasure. I had managed to collect almost all the loot items and 2 artifacts of power for each member of my party. I decided to stop cause the game wasn't challenging and I had played for about an hour and a half...

It was a lot of fun for the first 4 or 5 rounds, when everything was uncertain, but I was just too overpowered and getting stronger after every battle. I'll probably give it another shot with a weaker set of heroes. But honestly, I'd rather play Rangers of Shadow Deep.

Any body else gave the game a go?

  7. I was on vacations and saw a GW store, walked in and saw that Age of Sigmar was a new Warhammer game. I had learned of Warhammer when I was in college but couldn't afford to buy in. The fact that AoS was new and I loved the look of the golden knight minis was enough to convince me to buy a 2 player starter set. I loved the game! Yes, I loved AoS even before the first Generals Handbook came out. Fact is I still use those original rules to introduce people to the game.

I've been obsessed with Wargaming and AoS specifically ever since. I read as much lore as I can, I have 6 AoS armies and 4 Warhammer 40k armies, though lately I've been playing Warcry and KillTeam more than the main game, just because of time. I do my best to spread the AoS love.

  8. When I got into Age of Sigmar I was unemployed hence I didn't have any $$$ (just unemployment checks) but had a lot of time on my hands. I bought the 2 player starter set, the getting started magazine that came with a Slaughterpriest and some paints. I got more models from family for Christmas that year, a few start collecting sets for Stormcast and Khorne, allowing my forces to grow. While I painted it all up nicely I went to the local games store every week to play, made new friends and took my mind off of everything. Building and painting my AoS armies was like therapy and playing the game every week was like my second church.

It wasn't until I landed a new job that I could afford more models at my local gaming store and I expanded into a bunch of other armies, but now I hardly have time to build, paint or play... I have a lot of grey plastic that makes me happy. Lately I've been able to play Warcry a few times!

So I'd say stick to the start collecting sets and make a Christmas list if your family and friends do that. I like supporting my local games store since that is where I go to play. Online stores like Miniature Market and Amazon sell at a discount and even though I don't buy from Ebay they seam like a good option too.

  9. Unlike a few of you guys, I love AoS lore!!!

I got into the game because of the Stormcast Eternals, I loved the models and their story. I bought all the Realmgate Wars campaign books and and novels. It really bothered me when people would say the Stormcast were empty shells, because even in the first book they had them taking their helmets off and showing different characterizations, doubts and fears. They never where automatons they had personalities and that dystopian "MadMax" setting made total sense with the background...

I think the Warcry book is great, the only faults I find in it is that it's softcover, they didn't fully reveal the 2 next factions and the binding comes apart easily.

I'm a bit leery. Game isn't old enough to need an expansion yet, and tbh it feels quite balanced and nice with the current rules. I hope the stuff in M&M is optional or at least mostly focused on Narrative/Open. We've quite been enjoying Matched right now and I don't want people to get annoyed with bloat.

It's a GW game, almost everything is optional.

  11. Hope they show some more stuff at the actual Nova Open.

They usually have display cases and dioramas.

Can't wait to add some Chaos Demons (I have Bloodletters and Horrors) to the battlefields and keep them as Thralls!!!

  12. New expansion book just announced. It has me excited!!!

Looking forward to finding out more about it. Can't wait to be able to use heroes in the game.

Hope they accompany the book with lots of new monster miniatures for Thralls and Gargantuans.

Might have Mounts here too but I think they'll save that for another expansion.

  13. In my local store we don't have any issues with Rolling for initiative every turn. We are either wishing for a double turn or dreading that our opponent will get it. The Randomness of it adds excitement and suspense to the game! I consider it an integral part of AoS.

  14. I don't like repeat miniatures so unless GW releases different looking models for the Warcry Warbands I'm sticking to just one box. I'd love to be able to build all the options of the mini's but I won't be buying a second box when only 2 models will look slightly different. I already own the Godsworn Hunt and I guess I could use them to add to the Untamed Beasts... But I have no ideas for the Iron Golems or Corvus Cabal.
