I think Tzeentch will get a new battletome along with endless spells this year. During the announcement at the LVO they announced that each grand alliance will be getting a new battletome. The picture is the order grand alliance was a stormcast and a Fyreslayer and we have had a new Fyreslayer battletome. The chaos picture had something very Tzeentch looking.

I had suggested that on Facebook, though in my case it was hoping that the vampire for Death indicated a Soulblight battletome, but someone pointed out that the characters in that image are actually iconic for each faction. Basically, that image has been used before and doesn't necessarily indicate anything.

The more I think about “repackage the existing Aelves as new Hysh/Ulgu Aelves” the less I like it.   Sigmar/humans got Stormcast.  Dwarves got huge Steampunk  Zeppelins.  A minor (lore and power wise) Aelven faction was delivered with sea creatures.  Why would the full realisation of Teclis and Tyrion’s vision for the rescued souls of Hyshian Aelves be “lol exactly the ones we had already”.  It would be such a waste of such creative potential.

Roll in order draconis, Swifthawk, Phoenix temple etc with Free Peoples and Dispossessed as their free cities thing.   Flex GWs serious creative muscle for the new stuff.

I don't think it would be "repackage", more a matter of using what they've got as a jumping off point and adding new kits.

That said, I would totally dig a multi-species Free Cities faction consisting of the existing Human, Aelven, and Duardin kits plus some cool new stuff.

One minor lore quibble: Stormcast aren't something "humans" got. There's evidence that some Stormcast are made from Aelven souls, and if that's true, it's likely that others were made from Duardin souls as well. Additionally, even if Stormcast are made from Human souls exclusively, they aren't really a "Human" thing - it's pretty clear that the machinery of Sigmar's empire uses Stormcast as the tip of the spear but relies of ordinary Humans, Aelves, and Duardin to hold the territory once his tin soldiers have claimed it.

Early on the new light and dark aelves were clearly hinted at being full armies like Idoneth and they still could be. However the Slaanesh tome suggests that at least the light side might end up more like Daughters of Khaine, using new light aelves but also wrapping in existing aelf armies as well into a united force.

Ghouls and Sylvaneth have showed off similar tricks.

    Death: New faction...

I think fleshed out Soulblight or Deathrattle is more likely. I mean, pretty much the only "allies" Nagash ever had that he seems to have really liked - other than Arkhan - were Krell, a wight king whose return could definitely inject some serious coolness into Deathrattle, and Vlad, a vampire, who if Nagash didn't really "like" he at least got to respect during the End Times.

Now, that said, it's entirely possible that a new Soulblight or Deathrattle will have some new added aesthetic - in fact, I hope they do! But I don't think we'll see something entirely new, not while there are unfinished subfactions that already have a base of models for GW to build off of.

  5. Here's my question. Can anyone school me on kurnoth hunters, especially greatbows? I really want the bows to be good, because enormous treedudes with bows taller than a human are awesome, and also quiverlings are adorable, but people talk a lot of trash about them.

I would expect rules for each Wargrove that encourages certain force compositions by providing bonuses to non-Dryad battleline units

Do you think Gnarlroot is going to keep it's Order wizard buddy?

Awww! Poor junior high summoner! He just wants a girl to at least talk to him, he'll just dream of the heady heights of High School and dating a girl of his own. Perhaps his One True Love, They'll go to the Chamon High School prom on a stretch disc of Tzeentch and live happily ever after. Don't drink the punch, Nurgle spiked it!

Age of Sigmar High School AU. Go!

One really has to wonder about the timescale AoS moves at.

From some of the developements, especially the establishment of major cities and their impressive descriptions, it must be at the very least over a decade from the start of the Realmgate Wars to the end of Seasons of War, if not much longer.

It would be nice to get a rough accounting of the time past, it might have well been a mortal lifespan in the realms since the release of AoS.

Interesting point. The thing is that so far, we have mostly seen releases of immortal/near-immortal/deathless species. Stormcast "live" until "killed" and then are presently "born" again. Ghouls probably live and die on a mortal timeline, but everything else in that army is long-lived thanks to vampire blood or is a vampire. Fyreslayers are Dwarves Duardin and have very lengthy lifespans. Sylvaneth are immortal tree spirits. I Orks Orruks live until killed. Really, we haven't seen any releases that include creatures who live and die on a normal human timescale.

This is not a response to anyone in particular but I don't think we should necessarily be thinking all battletomes in the future will be as expansive as Disciples of Tzeentch. I hope we still get faction specific battletomes to accompany the smaller ones.

What's good about this is not that all Battletomes will be in this new format, but that this is now an option where it's appropriate.

No - there was a 360 of him on twitch.  That piece is nowhere to be found.  The cloak and the beak soul portal are also absent.

Daedalus81 is triply sure of this. :P

  11. If there was a Chaos faction to get a crossover battletome, it would be Tzeentch, since they're all about mortals wielding sorcery...

Also, it may turn out that Khorne is the exception and "Disciples of X" is the rule. Remember - Khorne is the  only one not to wield sorcery, which means the only one with no summoning, which means the only one where the mortal servants need to stand alone quite as much.

To be honest, I immensly enjoyed the Flesheater Courts, Bonsplittaz and Beastclaw Battletomes Fluff and Presentation wise, but I honestly hope GW never goes the "kitbash an entire faction from just two or three actual boxes" approach ever again. There is something fundamental about that approach, that I found abhorrent, though I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

It was probably the ghoul king! :P

I feel very differently. I think that being able to pull this sort of thing off in a way that so many folks enjoyed it so well is very good for the game. We all hate the idea of power creep, of GW forcing us all to buy the new hotness by depowering the old stuff. We also hate the idea of the game becoming cluttered (like, say *cough* 40k *cough) with an endless parade of new ****** and no discipline.

So, yeah... I agree that they shouldn't do it too often, but it's not something I never want to see again.

-Steamhead are a mix of old and new kits, Ironweld and Dispossessed are diminished, but still hold any leftover units

Something like this is what happened to the Flesh Eaters, except that there weren't any "leftover" units at all.

One of the things I miss most from older versions of the game is the ability to customize heroes..

Fair, but on the other hand, I don't miss the irritation of wanting options that there's no model for, or the stress of worrying that I've spent a bunch of time/energy/money on a "bad" heroes. It's kind of nice not to have to worry about all that.
