  1. Hello all! As mentioned in my introductory post, I’m looking at getting into some AoS (or WFB?) via the Warcry game. My brother has a few WIP AoS armies, so has plenty of minis for making Warbands. However, he doesn't have any StD stuff, so I figured I'd go with them. The plan is to keep it simple and start with the Chaos Warrior box, which even on its own should give me a tough core of a Warband. Maybe later I'd swap to some Marauder/Darkoath support… 1. Exalted Champion 185 2. Chaos Sorcerer Lord 150 3. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Hand Weapon and Runeshield 110 4. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Hand Weapon and Runeshield 110 5. Chaos Warrior with pair of Chaos Hand Weapons 120 6. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Halberd and Runeshield 105 7. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Halberd and Runeshield 105 8. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Greatblade 115 And then maybe expand to: 1. Exalted Champion 185 2. Chaos Sorcerer Lord 150 3. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Hand Weapon and Runeshield 110 4. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Halberd and Runeshield 105 5. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Halberd and Runeshield 105 6. Chaos Warrior with Chaos Greatblade 115 7. Ollo 110 8. Marauder with Flail 60 9. Marauder with Flail 60 Darkoath are obviously not as tough as Chaos Warriors, but taking the Marauders does get me an extra body in the Warband. I might also swap out another Chaos Warrior for Ollo from the Godsworn Hunt, as he is about the only fighter with a ranged attack available to StD! (I'd probably put him in a Battle Group with the Sorcerer and try to keep them both a bit further away from melee) In terms of build/painting, I'd like to focus less on the Chaos aspect and more on the WFB Norscan aesthetic, even on the Warriors who would be built as more like heavily armoured viking Knights than all-out Chaos worshippers? I'd see them as mercenaries who could get away with being in any of the Cities of Sigmar? Probably something along the lines of - Armour - black metallic, plain, perhaps file off the big Chaos stars on the shields, though I might keep the smaller, more subtle ornamentation? Furs- white/grey (polar bear skin?) Skins - not sure I want them wearing human skins as trophies, too Chaos-y, so maybe I could fill in any faces with gs and paint them as short-furred animal skins (snow leopard pattern might look cool?) Scales - again, more northern themed monsters, so maybe troll or dragon skins? Cloaks - light blue and green Clothing/Boots - variety of browns Skin - variety, but mostly pale with red or blonde hair Weapons - dark steel. Rune blades with fiery molten glow. Bases - stone and snow (obviously! ) Edit: I've also got a few Puppetswar Norse heads, so I'll be using them in preference to the big-horned heads in the Warrior box. Some will have helms, but I'll stick to the less ott ones? Anyway, that's the ideas I've got so far, would be interested to know what anyone thinks re list or fluff? Thanks for reading!
  2. Hi all, I'm Lysimachus. I'm very much into Warhammer fluff, DIY writing, and a bit of occasional skirmish gaming. I'm usually more of a 40k enthusiast (if you frequent the Bolter and Chainsword, you might know me?) but my brother is very into AoS and Warcry, so I've decided to put a warband together so we can play a few games. So, I've joined the board and will be looking over the Warcry forum. Current plan is a Slaves to Darkness team, but with less of a Chaos-y aesthetic and more Norscan raiders/mercenaries feel? I look forward to getting more familiar with the AoS setting and the board!
