This would be the sequence:
You attack first with one of your units. If the enemy unit survives and fights back, resolve their attacks. After the enemy unit’s fight, you can then fight with your second unit. If the enemy unit survives your second unit’s attacks as well, they do not get to fight a second time. Their turn to retaliate has already passed.
