Is there any word on the stuff for Tomb Kings that are not yet on pre-order (eg Casket, Catapult etc)? Wondering if they are going to be released later - maybe in FW resin as I remember GW saying something about old models being done in resin.

I was just mulling over this as well. The way I read this article is that we will indeed see more - presumably old stuff? - released for Tomb Kings in the future:

I'm not sure if "much more" implies new stuff as well. Would love to know...

  2. Hiya, first time posting here.

I think The Old World bug is getting to me, but I have a question I'm sure has been discussed endlessly already. It's about the Legacy Factions.

Now, I'm not particularly surprised (or upset) that some armies won't feature in The Old World, but I'm curious to hear speculation on how this list of excluded armies was decided on. Lore being malleable (even if the setting is fixed on the old continent), I figure it has more to do with logistics or with certain army ranges having been replaced.

Lizardmen & Vampire Counts have both seen pretty direct successors in Age of Sigmar, in terms of model ranges (Saurus Warriors, Skeletons, etc.) Chaos Dwarves and Skaven are not all-but-confirmed to make a proper re-appearances in the Mortal Realms as well.

Ogre Kingdoms, on the other hand, have not received this treatment. A lot of Dark Elf kits still for sale as part of CoS - and these were some of the final releases of WHFB.

I'm just really curious (again, not angry or frustrated) to hear some educated guesses on how this was decided on? Do you figure that GW doesn't want to sell both old and new versions of what is practically the same kit (Saurus Warriors, zombies, future Skaven updates)? But then, the Empire will obviously make a return, presumably with the models that were only just now replaced by the new Cities of Sigmar stuff?

  3. I went from having relatively little interest in TOW to being quite interested after seeing the launch boxes. Could see myself picking up some Tomb Kings. As for how successful the mix between old and new will look, I think I will need to see a lot of pictures of various armies pitted against each other.

Maybe GW should just ask FromSoftware to make a Dark Souls AoS game at this point. The setting would actually fit that idea pretty well. We only need to feed the players the game‘s story in a really confusing, item-descriptions-way and everyone would cheer as AoS‘s setting isn‘t that strongly defined anyways outside of a couple key cities/landmarks. Then make all npcs die at the end or near the end…that‘s kinda grimdark too. The nexus where the player goes to invetween the worlds/realms is Azyr. Dying gets explained by being reforged which makes total sense, they don‘t even need to come up with a new kind of undead group or have some god stop people from dying.

    I‘m a genius, really!

  5. Mamma mia, what a reveal show! Sort of knew about most reveals beforehand, yet delighted and impressed by just about everything!

Nothing specifically for me this time around, but tons of things that look very tempting - and is sure to make the rest of TGA very happy!

Ushoran & co. look absolutely spectacular. Do we know if this is it for the time being? Would love a unit or two more to really cement the army, but this is a fantastic start. The Underworld band is really good too!

As for future releases... 2nd edition featured Nighthaunt - and then saw a lot of "deathly" releases. 3rd edition featured the Kruleboyz - and then saw a lot of "beastly" releases.

If 4th edition features Skaven as the main baddies, would it not make sense to have a lot of "scheming, shadowy, and, uh, entrepreneurial" releases? AKA Malerion's shadow elves, Chaos Dwarfs, and more?

  6. Would have loved Kroak instead of the Slann, but the Seraphon battleforce looks pretty good to me.

Also really impressive when you realize that almost everything in these boxes (save the Morghast) was released within the past 4 years. Games Workshop is just pumping out incredible stuff at a record pace!

  7. My thoughts on yesterday's reveals:

    Warhammer 40,000
    - Imotekh looks pretty good, though a fancier base wouldn't have hurt. Hoping we'll see new Lokhust Destroyers to go with him and Orikan.
    - I am all for the goofiness of AdMech, but Stilt-Man's pose leaves me wanting.

    Age of Sigmar
    - Ionus was a wonderful surprise and the best-of-show for me. I really want(ed) a standalone Knight/Lord-Draconis model and this guy pretty much fits the bill. It sounds weird to say about the most bloated posterboy model range in a game full of centerpiece models, but Stormcast kind of lacks great centerpiece models. This guy really is a welcome addition.
    - I like the bug, I like the tree, but I don't think the two really come together. Alarielle vibes on that front.
    - As for what armies will receive more stuff in Dawnbringers, how about a Seraphon prophet of Sotek (Tehenhauin reborn?) to warn against the coming vermintide - the perfect segue into Skaven in 4th?

    Kill Team
    - Disappointing to see Scouts re-revealed alongside Striking Scorpions without cool specialist equipment and surprisingly generic poses. I believe the new season was teased back in late April or early May so to wait this long for so little was my biggest disappointment.

    The Old World
    - Don't follow this too closely, but I can appreciate the mixed reception and concerns people have. Seeing those old archers really took me back, though.

All in all I am more surprised that outright disappointed. I thought they might announce some outrageously expensive commemorative FOMO miniatures to celebrate, almost like the debacle with Magic's 30th anniversary. Not even trying to be cynical, it just seems like the kind of thing a company might do. And in a way it would have shown more effort than what we got.

  8. Aw, was hoping to snag Kroak at a discount with this year's battleforce. I understood it as Warriors, Kroxigors, a regular Slann, and a squad of Aggradons.

As for WarCry in Skaven-land, imagine a bunch of "subterranean" stuff, like a giant sewer full of lost treasure. Sounds pretty good to me.

  9. I would love to pick up Kroak in the battleforce. Rather, I worry that he will be accompanied by scores of Saurus (Temple) Guard to push a theme - and some old models.

As for 4th edition and new Stormcast, I wonder if the Thunderstrike keyword will be phased out to better blur the lines between different generations of Stormcast, similar to how the Primaris/Firstborn distinction looks to be going in 10th.

Definitely hoping for Skaven for the new edition. They're long overdue; incredible popular; one of the most original creations of GW; they are Chaos, meaning we've come full circle; they fit the profile for poster boy villain with lots of gribbly hordes to get stomped by the heroes, contrasted by big hulking brutes - all of which are easy to paint. Like Tyranids, they're the exact kind of army you would want to put into everybody's hands with readily available push-fit models and such.

And most importantly, they make for perfect offerings on the blood-slicked sacrificial altars of Sotek...

  10. Dwarves were never my thing, but when I saw these I just had to pop into TGA to see all the positive reactions. And rightfully so - this band looks absolutely incredible and I love the story surrounding them. I really love the varied silhouettes and different personalities on display warbands like the Kruleboyz, Flesh-Eaters, and this one. Wouldn't mind seeing an entire of dwarves of this caliber!!

  11. Just reporting in to congratulate TGA on the new Ironjawz, Gorgors, and other goodies. Nothing for me this time around, but after an epic Adepticon (Tyranids AND Seraphon), I've had my fill for a long time. But legitimately thought of you guys when I woke up to the reveals today. Here's to some more cool models for all to enjoy!

  12. Pleased, but surprised that we are getting everything Tyranid just like that. Instead of giving each starter army a long tail of releases they really are just dropping everything here and now.

There was a recent rumor about a soon-to-be-announced "second wave" for Age of Sigmar? Can anyone speak to this? I feel like Whitefang hinted at something similar a ways back, but they may have been hinting at either the new Ironjawz or the impending 4th edition.

  13. That new 'Ardboy looks incredible! Honestly never thought the kit would get a direct replacement. They felt like stragglers from the Old World and I never liked how they were belittled and one-upped by the introduction of Brutes. But now I'm really excited to see the full kit!

Also, the old one is gone on GW webstores.

  14. Question: What other releases have there been like Snarlfang Riders? They're lovely models and a promising continuation of the Underworld warband, but they felt completely incidental and somewhat incongruous with the rest of Gloomspite. Are they, alongside the rumored Ardboyz revamp, a part of GW's plan to revive back the more traditional "Orcs and Goblins" of old? If so, it feels like a strange direction, seeing how the edition started out with the "deliberately different" Kruleboyz.

  15. No new model today :/?

Vanguard is looking pretty good. Like most others, I'm surprised that Carnie is still in there. I think I would have preferred a combo of Lancers and the Astrolith-bearer, but I'll take it over repackaged Saurus Guard, Skinks, a Priest, and Terradons :P.

  16. I'm a little out of the rumor loop, but today's engine got me thinking... Didn't Whitefang (all hail) hint that something was coming for Stormcast "soon"? I think the conversation was centered on whether older stuff would be updated to Thunderstrike. Of course, next year we'll see some along 4th edition, but has there been any further rumor of stuff coming before that? Maybe a small release at the tail end of 3rd/the Dawnbringer arc? It's certainly not unprecedented for them to get stuff mid-edition...

  17. So all the new Tyranid stuff looks incredible (Biovore being a personal exception), but after waiting for so long I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. I wanted more, damn it! Hopefully we'll see a bit more later in the edition or the beginning of 11th...
