  1. I don't know about the whole "last minute change" hypothesis... the model has a Kruleboyz-esque shrine and if it was already in production, then presumably they knew how they wanted to tie him into the story. My guess is that GW believes the centaur/faun/goatpeople aesthetic is bigger than just Beasts of Chaos, and can support/be supported by multiple armies or factions, as seen with the Kurnothi and now Kragnos. I'm not sure I agree. It's not my jam to begin with but more importantly it seems like its spreading the concept a bit too thin. Width versus depth, I guess, and with the BoC model range looking as old as it does, its difficult not to be upset or perplexed by this development. I'd certainly be annoyed if GW introduced a new army of saurian creatures without first giving Seraphon their due. At least with the new dragons, Seraphon are indirectly part of their story. And yes, King Brodd or something similar would have been amazing: awakened by the Necroquake, roided up on energy from the Life Ritual, and now ready to stomp the realms in the name of Gorkamorka! Oh, and are these my sons? My, how you've grown. Daddy's back with a pack of cigarettes and foot made out of stupid - let's go kick down a city or two!
  2. Some really good takes from a lot of people. I think we can all agree that there is an important distinction between what GW could and would do. My Lizardmen used to Aztec dinosaur people living in pseudo-South America; then they were half-remembered energy angels, summoned by space-faring Slann atop flying pyramids; and now they are sort of half-and-half. Words are words and text is cheap. Beasts of Chaos absolutely could be reimagined to fit a completely different role within the universe. Actually, they're not even evil goatfolk - they're just really hairy people living in the woods! And as for lore discrepancies? Retcon is a thing. "This is what we believed at the time, but now we actually know that..." and so on. Now, does that mean that GW would make Beasts of Chaos part of Destruction? Personally, I don't believe that, not even for a minute. I wholeheartedly agree that the goats need a new, stronger, and more flavorful personality - one that ties them closer to the Mortal Realms. But I happen to think that the same is true of Seraphon, Skaven, Cities of Sigmar, and every other model range that hasn't seen much action since Age of Sigmar launched. I'm impressed with how the writers and community has embraced old concepts in a new story context, but I suppose the curse of sticking around for so long (like many others) is that I remember seeing those Ogres, Plague Monks, Cold One Riders, etc, on square bases! I think Daughters of Khaine are perhaps the golden standard in terms of keeping some old models and core themes, while adapting the army to a new world? I want to see more of that - I'm sure we all do. Finally, how much of this speculation would have never taken form if they hadn't made Kragnos into a centaur? Why'd they go and make him a centaur? Why not just a super-big giant to slot in nicely with the Sons of Behemat - and every other army in Destruction? Could have been the guy still smashed dragon eggs and had to be put down long time ago. I think that part will always be weird to me...
  3. It also makes sense to give something called a Warpsmith an actual hammer, hm. If the rumors are true, Chaos Space Marines are going to have one of the best model ranges out there...!
  4. I was thinking Warpsmith as well. The tendrils and high techno vibe certainly give that impression. But the distance between the hand and the head suggests it's a short weapon, which does make me think it could be a Chorf...
  5. What are the odds of more Seraphon? I distinctly remember the reveal article calling the Starblood Stalkers the first Seraphon warband...
  6. The pose feels unique enough that he could be a hero of some sort. Would be awesome if he was some sort of handler for smaller Corpse-Rippas. Kind of like how the Cybernetica Datasmith comes with the robots.
  7. It's probably going to end up being about the same amount time, right? Two and a half months or something like that.
  8. I don't think GW has ever released new sculpts for old units independent of a battletome/codex/army book release. That, or some interim rulebook or supplement (Howling Banshees and the Blood of the Phoenix battle box). Also, wasn't the rumored BoC dual box debunked? It came from someone who also claimed that Grey Knights would be updated in the new Hexfire box (they weren't).
  9. The Space Marine (and Necron) codex was released at the beginning of October (the 3rd I think), leaving more than two months between that and the release of Indomitus (25th of July): https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/09/28/a-new-chapter-of-codex-space-marines/ Not trying to be pedantic or saying I agree with it, but since comparisons are understandably made with AOS, it might be nice to clear up the timeline a bit.
  10. It's a strange precedent (if any), but I'd love for them to do it more often. Refreshed Start Collecting/whatever Age of Sigmar's Combat Patrol equivalent will be with all new units - an overhaul that doesn't require too many resources or long-lasting spotlight. Just a quick a dirty update of Skaven, Seraphon, Beastmen...
  11. A terrain piece makes sense. Maybe also a Lord-Imperatant clamshell? It feels weird to me that you can't get a generic Lord-X with Thunderstrike outside of the starter sets.
  12. That would certainly make a lot of sense! I understand that AoS wanted lots of gear-swapping and equipment lists, but I never understood why they had to give different names to otherwise identical units. Made the battletome (and webshop) look very bloated. And inconsistent too: Liberators are Liberators, regardless of hammers and swords, but Retributors become Decimators when they wield axes?
  13. Hmm, as for new stuff... Yndastra, Bastian Carthalos, Lord-Imperatant, Knight-Arcanum, Knight-Relictor, new Knight-Vexillor, Knight-Judicator, Praetors, Annihilators, Vindictors, Vanquishers, Vigilors, the chariot, Stormguard, Knight-Draconis, Kondrys, red dragon... We're way past 12??
  14. Any guesses? Even more dragons? I kind of want to see another Stormcast warmachine - but then, I want to see more warmachines in general. I do think the Thunderstrike wave has done a good job in covering almost every battlefield role and weapon type.
  15. Awww yis, they’re here!!! https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/02/even-more-dragons-are-coming-to-the-age-of-sigmar-and-now-theyve-got-riders/?utm_source=Instagram&utm_medium=Article&utm_campaign=New+Model+-+MORE+Dragons+Return!+(inc+video)
  16. Long time lurker joining in to say "YES" please give us new Seraphon - Skinks, Saurus, Kroxigors, and Slann! I want a buddy army for my Stormcast and I've been collecting Lizardmen for 15+ years... Oh man, I feel old now!
