An FAQ wouldn’t hurt, to stop this coming up again, but at no time have I seen it interpreted that way at any major events. You’re in for an up-hill battle if you want to argue it at a tournament.

So something for Namarati at least. Seems it is acompanied with medium sized eel too at top of all arsenal of weapons
Looks like a soul-having aelf to me, so not Namarti, but might buff them! A nicely posed eel-rider would be neat.

If only @Whitefang could give us a sign, how prepared should Idoneth be getting for the “one new hero, nothing else, rules cut” treatment… 😩

I’m fully expecting the character from Naeve’s animated series to land at some point too, but she looks like a Soulscryer (but wizard?), so unlikely to have these swords.
It’s in its scabbard, like the King’s, which to me says it’s a secondary/optional weapon in place of a free hand/shield?
I’ll keep everything crossed for a ‘King on Kraken/Sea Dragon’.

All of a sudden Nighthaunt are looking to be on the horizon, huh?
I was half hoping the tease meant we might start to see some watery or fiery rumour engines. Is anyone able to squeeze @Whitefang and see if anything fishy falls out? If so, look for a Best Before date!

I think like most tomes we’ll probably end up with multiple lores, one focussing on the sea/deep magic and the other on bravery/soul shenanigans.

If the modifier is done prior then any +1 would be negated by rend prior to the unrendable portion coming into play right? So the ishlaen would just be a 3/4+ always for the most part. It not bad, but its hard to swallow the point increase and unit sizes pushing to MSU and use them like before (ishlaen or morsarr)
Could you provide a rule number that suggests anything like that happens?
13.3 (3. Save Roll) says to make a roll, modifying by rend (which can be more than -1).
Ishlaen ignore this modifier.
It then says we cannot modify by more than +1. As others have pointed out, the biovoltaic rule sets the save to 3+, which can then be given a +1, meaning a roll of a 2+ succeeds.
I’m not sure where you’re adding this separate ‘negation’ of the positives phase, but I don’t think it’s the case. At least not with rend. Other penalties would of course still affect Ishlaen.

Due to the new ruling that modifiers are calculated „outside“ of the save first
The Ishlaen rule is still to “ignore the rend characteristic”. Nothing in the new rules conflicts with that.

Hiw does the whole effect stacking work?
Example: They get +1 armour from the Leviadon. They‘re attacked by a -2 rend attack.
a) Do the modifiers calculate outside of the save: +1-2= -1 rend -> immune to rend so the save stays at 4+
b) the unreadable completely ignores the rend, only adding the positive modifier: 3+ save remains against any kind of rend.Yesterday I played it like a.
If I did it wrong, could someone please direct me to the rules paragraph where I can look it up?
Why would you calculate the net result with a rend which they’re immune to...? The only modifier which applies is the +1. They’re 3+ within the aura or cover, or 2+ on the charge.

Any insights on what this play testing group are making of Idoneth...? A new book feels well overdue, but it seems silent on the rumour front.

If that is the case, the Soul-scryer casting heal on the leviadon would be powerful.
I can only see myself taking curse as a prayer. The boost in damage output on a unit of eels could partially make up for the loss of stacked +attacks.
The magic game seems to be more important. The arcane tome is going to be taken quite widely and a king with flaming weapons isn’t the worst use for it. The Aspect of the Sea has some new tricks also, making itself a monster or ‘storing’ D3 impact mortals from arcane bolt.
Reactive fire from shark nets to prevent a pile-in increases their value.
We seem to have lost one whole ship, as each army can only take ‘one faction terrain piece’.
Unless there is some limitation, Gotrek can heal himself D3 twice per round. Although cogs can’t get him up the (smaller) board, that feels big.

He now always draws it, with no downside.
@Derek as for double Sea Eidolon, that’s a lot of points and one would effectively be doing nothing. One would attempt all of the nice spells and the other would be left using its weapons profiles only, which are seriously lacking!
