  1. Happy for KO players! I'm eager to see how Blades of Khorne and Soulblight Gravelords do in their upcoming books, since both of them need a bit of help.

The Regiments of Renown seem... interesting. Ignoring the limit for ally points etc is curious. If it weren't for the inexpense of the points of the Zombies + Corpse Cart one, I'd be unimpressed by that one. 12" -1 to wards could really wreck certain armies.

Oh I thought old world was being made along with the forgeworld team. I just assumed that many new sets would be resin...

    Sf

It is very likely to be resin.

We may get a plastic starter box to get people interested and started in it, but many of the characters, big units, all sorts of things will be coming out in resin, I guarantee it.

Aside from re-using molds that were already plastic (ala Tomb Kings) I really don't understand where this 'it's gunna be a full plastic range!' idea is coming from.

That would be a huge surprise if true. Was that on his latest livestream mate? Love having Val on while I'm painting, missed the last couple of streams.

Yeah was watching his stream for a bit and he let that out. Not much else, since all his focus is on 10th.

Adepticon will probably be the Lion instead and 10th edition at Warhammer Fest

Also the fact they initially said codex in spring but the roadmap shows it in summer could be because there will a launch box in spring with the full release in summer

This is pretty much my expectation. I know people in some places were arguing over the exact definitions of spring and summer that GW uses, but ultimately I think it's because there'll be a Launch Box revealed soonish.

Since no new seraphon this week and no rules for the Regiments of Renown yet... let's talk about Kroxigor!

Do we think there is a good chance if we get them they'll have different load outs from the current kit? Like the Total War Sacred Kroxigor? We know the Slann, Saurus, and Raptadon Ridees will have different load outs at least visually.

Personally I feel like Seraphon could benefit from some melee that could deal with hard targets with high rend.

Personally expecting something similar to Kurnoth Hunters. A big unit of 3 with a variety of weapons, maybe one weapon that's fast but low damage, another that's few attacks but big damage, and maybe, if we're really really lucky, they'll get some sort of ranged option. I could see them having flamer fists or some giant crossbow thing, but I'm not counting on it.

Let's take a moment and assume that Seraphon will release in that first week of June, which would be pretty late. That's 13 weeks between here and then.

We already know of the new Slann, Raptodons, Warriors, Salamander, Astrolith Bearer, with likely two more things yet to come.

Assuming we get no early launch box or anything like that, my guess is that we're going to see them slow the roll on Seraphon releases until closer to the full reveal, which will be further down the line.

Now, if there IS a launch box, then they'll likely reveal everything before the battletome comes out in that launch box, as once that's out there's no point playing coy.

There are a couple of key events coming up.

First is Warhammer World Open Day, 4th of March.
    Then Adepticon, 22nd of March

Those will be here before we know it. I would not be surprised if they announced the Seraphon launch box on the 4th for release later in March or early April, followed by a few more Seraphon reveals between now and then, in which case the trend of 'every other week' makes perfect sense.

Then, Adepticon will be focused on basically everything else, such as revealing the next battletomes for AoS and of course the major focus on 40k 10th ed.

But yeah, basically, it all comes down to if we're getting an early Launch Box for Seraphon.

I could see Skaven being the poster boy villains of 4th edition, though I wonder if they are (superficially) too similar to Kruleboyz to assume that role - you know, sadistic, backstabbing, miserable beings. If 4th edition was to turn the attention from the savagery of Ghur and the Era of the Beast to something more shadowy or artificial in nature, a horde of grotesque rat monstrosities and eccentric Warpstone artillery pieces might be the perfect transition.

Naturally, as a follower of the Great Plan the thought makes me shudder with contempt and saurian rage. Even so, after eons of feeding the same old plastic rat models to Great Sotek it might be nice with an updated menu...

Variety is the spice of life, after all.

Moving to Ulgu, the Realm of Shadow, would set up for some sweet stuff. Eshin Skaven, expansions for the Daughters of Khaine, and finally seeing Malerion's elves. Thematically it'd be really cool, especially if we see other armies get units that focus on misinformation, assassination, etc.

We'll see what happens. We're a long ways out from hearing any rumors about that sort of stuff.

Lets say we do jump Realms next Edition and we most likely will, what Realm do you want the Narrative to shift to?

Personally Id love it to be Aqshy.

I'd love Aqshy! Bunch of fiery things, plants that somehow survive in the hostile environment, statues to the ancient salamanders or other god beasts from the realm, fiery elementals or other structures, there's a lot that could be done and then painted in all sorts of wild ways too!

Shadow/Ulgu seems to be the safest bet on what's coming next. Malerion needs to make himself known and they've been teasing the situation with Slaanesh for quite a while already. Terrain could still be generic enough, but with an emphasis on creepy gargoyles, Dark Elf structures, etc. Would be really sweet to see some terrain based on the city that Morathi took over too!

I think the one realm that I wouldn't be too pleased about would be Ghyran, realm of life. Yeah big flowers and plants and overgrown buildings and stuff, but all I see when I see trees and such in AoS is...

"That is going to snag on my models and make it a nightmare to move across the table"

blockier the terrain and fewer outreaching details, the better.

  8. In terms of the BGG ranking - I take it with a big dose of salt. How are they ranking them? It's too easy for a couple of nerds to have strong opinions, start a website, and then display those opinions with their own sense of bias. X-wing being good is well known... for 1st edition at least, but that ignores the fact you'd have to buy rebel ships to get cards for your imperial ships to play well. AoS being so low reeks of strong opinions.

In terms of Underworlds, we'll see where GW goes with it. Some factions are getting more underworlds warbands than they are getting new units for actual AoS, which is mildly frustrating. I get that GW wants you to be able to use all your toys however you like, but it's a little awkward. Underworlds is a fun thing, but it just doesn't have the same staying power at least in my group as 40k and AoS.

In terms of 'Era of the Beast' or whatever... yeah. Considering most of this edition was out during covid, with lots of mess to slog through in terms of shipping issues and pandemic, it's no surprise we didn't get more. But hey, we got Kruleboyz, big update for Slaves to Darkness, and soon a big update for Seraphon. I'm personally hoping they ditch trying to force certain realm-based things down our throats because in a realm like the Beasts, I feel like there's not a lot of motivation to fight for any particular thing.

IMO, this is GW's major failing with both 40k and AoS. Either a place is SO IMPORTANT that losing it will shape the entire galaxy (ie Vigilus) and therefore you can tell the end of the story before it begins, or it's so irrelevant (Gallet) because there's no clear goal. Who are we defending? Why are so many factions here? We see terrain that's a mix of ruins and new buildings being actively built which is neat, but I feel it would have been more compelling if we already had Dawnbringer Crusades as a faction more fleshed out.

It doesn't help that the Realm of Beasts is one of my least favorite realms, personally, out of all the other realms. I really really hope we move to literally any other realm in 4th edition. Realm of Shadow has so much potential, as does the Realm of Metal and Realm of Fire, especially for awesome, epic, high-fantasy terrain, fights, monsters, and other things. They just lost my interest and suspension of disbelief talking about how the terrain and continents itself eat things. But that's just me.

Im still hoping that we get 10 Warbands for Warcry this Edition. With the next boxed set that bumps the Warbands up to 9, meaning like the Legionaires we may get a single Warband released alongside it.

I also wish we were getting Monsters for it as well but I think that ship may have sailed sadly.

Kinda surprised we haven't gotten monsters... but they did open up for a lot of different factions monsters to be used in the game, so that's something I suppose.

Kill Team being so accessible now is a big issue for Underworlds. The Kill Team starter is the same price as Gnarlwood, comes with more minis that are fully modular kits, plastic scatter terrain and is 40k. You can also expand it with a whole bunch of 40k stuff easily with the compendium. Compared to the price of Underworlds warbands it's not difficult to see the appeal of Kill Team from a cost perspective and an ease of access one too.

There's also not really any place to go with Underworlds once you have your warband...

You can expand your deck by getting further card options. You can get different boards that might fit your strat better... But that's it?

You get the Seraphon Underworlds warband and it's not like you can trade the chameleon out for another saurus...

Over on Bolter & Chainsword there is a new person leaking about 10th edition right now but the interesting bit for us is that he also said there will be a new Ossiarch Bonereapers character previewed on one of the next Mondays.

Massive amount of salt since his leaks don't line up with others so probably fake and guessing there will be a Ossiarch character also isn't hard but if true still interesting for the order of Battletomes since I would expect them to be next after Kharadron if this turns out true

Edit: Now he also said something about a pool when asked about Seraphon which could be a terrain piece but since we already have one that makes me doubt it even more so probably ignore this

Yeah, came over to highlight all this.

The list he puts down is believable to an extent, and he mentions it could be part of a Hachette magazine thingamabob, but there's so many people making big lists and stuff over the past month or so that it's easier to believe that nothing is real.

To be fair, Valrak said "The moon landing was more real than this " which... is kind of a ridiculous statement since the Moon Landing was indeed real, so I'm not sure what he's trying to say here. :P

Either way, he does indeed mention Arks of Omen book 5 being "the Sanguinor" and the next couple of reveals being an Ossiarch Bonereapers character and 'the pool' for seraphon, which could be a Spawning Pool.

Such a thing could be a terrain piece, could be a sort of new type of spell, or could be some other sort of unit that you can put on the table, but we'll see.

My blood pressure is through the roof, both because of my excitement for Seraphon and also because of all the salt I'm having to take...

  12. My only real issue with AoS is the fact they've taken the same track of battletome-creep the same way that 40k has codex-creep... other than that, I have nothing but positive things to say.

Recently my gaming group has been going through a GW organized play event. It's been a BLAST. Getting games in with lots of different people, even on half-tables at only 1000 points, has been fantastic. So many awesome designs, everyone's passionate about the particular army they're running. Even where two people might be running the same army, they have different ways of playing it or painting it and it's so refreshing to see.

I really like the rule system, the missions are fun, and there's so many cool models and factions that you just don't see anywhere else. Having a battle between vampires with giant undead bats and hordes of skeletons fighting elves riding flying sharks and turtles... pure awesomeness.

  13. HE'S SO CHONKY I LOVE HIM!!!

At first glance I wasn't a fan of the skinks, but they're growing on me real quick, I like the homage to Chotec and all that. Gives me hope that, like some of the other Gods of the Mortal Realms, we might see other representations of the seraphon gods as well.

Honestly didn't expect the Salamander reveal at all; part of me felt still that they were going to be the one thing that gets squatted, but I'm happy for the extra variety and the fun details in this. It gives me hope for other things that aren't necessarily dinosaurs but that fit well into the range because of reptilian nature!

Yep, my guess is it’ll be a unit and that’s it, plus maybe a Blood Bowl/Necromunda mini

ngl, when they show off models, that are typically resin Forgeworld models, for Necromunda and Blood Bowl, I can feel my blood pressure rising...

No offense meant to people that love those games, but you'd think that they'd have more things to show for the bigger game lines... But when it's 3-4 weeks in a row of Necromunda and Blood Bowl.... ooooooeeeeee

Ah nice! Looking forward to seeing it then!

Where can I find them? Had a bit of a look around (mostly on reddit) but couldn't find them at all, thanks!

Ebay, since usually new product images will come to sellers that maintain websites so they can keep their product listings up to date, but some sellers also sell via ebay instead of a normal website portal.

The trick is that it's usually only products that a store would maintain on their shelves, which isn't the entire GW catalog. So, things like Blood Knights and the Vampire Lord are likely to be on shelves, but stuff like the Mortis Engine and Corpse Cart is more likely to be in a white box.

Was there any hint we would get another AoS model tomorrow? I forget. Hoping to see a new Salamander or Kroxigor... Or if not Seraphon maybe what model we are getting with the SBG, Khorne or Slaanesh book.

Also was there any follow up about SBG cover art or whatever it was that was claimed to be doing the rounds?

Seems that the hint is Seraphon for tomorrow's 'model monday' reveal. We did get the Kharadron reveal, so it's just a matter of waiting for that and their new book to come out, and then others should be coming out over the coming months.

There's been a few images online showing new box art for Soulblight Gravelords and Ossiarch Bonereapers, giving some credence to the idea that they will be the next Death factions in the AoS roadmap before Seraphon come out.

I'm hoping they'll reveal an army box for them, just so we know if one is coming or not.

    That would definitely be nice.

They didn't do one for World Eaters and a lot of people are waiting on that Combat Patrol to save a buck or two since there wasn't a launch box.

Seraphon have a lot more units coming out so I could see them getting a launch box, but the question is 'when?'

I'm guessing we'll see Kroxigor tomorrow, but who knows!

I wouldn't expect a Mazdamundi until The Old World gets going. Unfortunately for my favorite slann, Mazdamundi was one of the few "on camera" deaths in the End Times.

I still want a big new monster but spotty hints from the rumor mongers.

Yeah, AoS is still in the process of figuring out who is alive and who isn't. They teased that an ancient vampire from the world that was could make a comeback, but who knows who else?

I'd personally rather see them make new stories and paths and leave old characters for Old World. Hopefully it gives them a chance to make some Seraphon characters that dont have joke names :P
