Legion of Azghor being discontinued, release of Hobgrots alongside the Kruleboyz, release of the Horns of Hashut, Chaos Dwarf DLC in TWW3, Warhammer World daemonsmith going OOP... I don't wanna do my crazy rumour theorist, but this is a little "sus" as zoomers would say.

Yes...seems to me that we have right now the perfect timing to see them coming back.

Interesting. It could just mean they're bringing Legion of Azgroh models back into production, since iirc that particular Daemonsmith was only around post-End Times? The only thing that makes me sceptical is Kislev and Cathay having 'modern' Total War designs they worked closely with GW on, whereas the Chorfs in their DLC are very much based on the old models (and LoAzgroh).

The talking seems imply the opposite unless i'm reading wrong though...they're saying that the old fw models will never get back but Chorfs will come back in TOW.
So...new sculpts ?Maybe a plastic release in Aos that could be used in the old world as well?

I wouldn't say that, especially since they also confirmed tomb kings won't be usable in AoS except as proxies.

They're heavily teased in aos as well...more than TOW tbh.
They just got a warcry warband of human cultist that acts as the vanguard of duardin hashut forces proper.

As long as I can get a hold of at least three Necrosphinx kits, I do not really mind the wait for new kits. Have you guys and gals seen how much TK stuff goes for? I could by actual relics from Egypt at lower costs.

Tk kits of 8th edition makes senses though at least.

Bretonnian knights from 6th do not imho.

Still at least scalpers will get what they deserve.

Talking about the timeline. Do you know how possible will be to see something about Vampire Coast for The Old World? I'm fascinated by them

Judging by the lexicanum of whfb Harkon was already active durin the supposed timeline Tow is set in.

And then in God-Eater’s Son where the Aqshy plains marks the periwinkle/indigo blooded ones called the Rockwrist tribe the Freeguilds want to take on as miners along with the other strange humanoid tribes there such as the cavern humans that evolved to spit poison and clans that mix the blood of the dead with their war-paint.

Felt very “40k ab-humans” just instead of planetary evolutions it’s tribes that had to adapt & survive near a thousand years under daemon rule.

If gw is making cities the new Imperial guard for Aos i'd say that the idea of "abhumans" will be used to some extent.
Ogors mercenaries seems already given considering the rumors to mirror Ogryns(and Halflings to mirror ratlings i'd say)....it's not too far fetched.

Obviously just subtle Lion advertising as he’s 40k’s version of GK. ;)

(but seriously wouldn’t read much into it unless you think Grom & Felix are showing up too from their past celebration videos. Like I wouldn’t be surprised at them reusing the model eventually but nothing super hinty)

The GK still makes sense as special character coming back as he was already "him" during the new timeline, being the spirit of Gilles,so maybe a new model will come with the new game.
I'm just hoping Tow will start with some Bretonnian love (ironic, as a Dawi lover first and foremost now i want cavalry?maybe the air thinned my beard and brain as the old longbeeards would say XD).

And GW has tried to lean into that with AoS and it works, but it also probably makes it harder to develop them out as a group of factions. It's easy for us to say "Make an Ironjawz ranged unit," or "a mega gargant matriarch shaman," but the game is studio led and I wonder if maybe the current designers are struggling to get a grasp on their vision for where to take destruction as factions.

They could concentrate on doing new kits for old things and they'll be already full for at least an edition.
    Gitmob,Gorgers,Yetis,Troggoth hag and so on...
They are not struggling they just have favoritism, see the whole "Votann debacle":they threw squat in the bin in 2nd edition  because they did not like the dwarf in space idea(as far i remember).
See also things like eldar in 40k that have some ancients models.
Ironic enough gw could live some editions just doing new kits for some old pieces and still get the job done...but they prefer to churn out sm cause they sell (and they did a whole game about that).
I'm a bit angry but destruction edition seems more like a "pause edition" for destruction at least...

I think it's just the one of dispossessed faction like root kings.

I feel that the third duardin faction we will get is Gholemkind to be honest. Something like powered by Grungni's magic living constructs. Would be interesting if they will have actual wizards and "synaps-like" ability.

I could see more an unified force of Gholemkind and classic dwarves.

Gholemkind fits well as a "kruleboyz like" wave and united with an expansion for old duardin.

I just hope Valaya will have a part in this, her Valikraz can be a nice addition.

Also "underlords" sounds more like an army name instead of rootkings or Gazul Zagaz tbh...Khazalid underlords

Isn't there also a Gazul narrative arc where the Dawi are out for grudges because Nagash defeated Gazul in the Age of Myth ? Tying the Dawi against the Zangunaz for some good old fashioned grudging ?

Between the teased return of Grombrindal, whatever Grungni is up to (return of Valaya, a new Duardin bloodline, or new machines) and that Gazul arc, GW has left a lot of doors open for our favourite stunty little grudge gnomes. Wazzock ! That's a lot for even one edition.

There were other mention of Gazul worshipper after that novella?
I don't remember though....still we are pretty sure the Dawi pantheon was composed of "many ancestor gods" (seems implied many more than the "core ones" and their sons\daughters)...they can even introduce some new considering the "Thagduegi" storyline.

  11. Why not:Aos 4.0-Chorfs demonic Boogaloo?

Still Malerion seems to have prepared some sort of "surprise" for Sigmar and stormcast(see the story about the coliseum "gift")....i could see him putting another dent in their process forcing Sigmar to use ONLY thunderstrike armor.
Hoping that after that final refresh Grungni will be finally locked to Duardin people narrative though (maybe planning to release Valaya in some way with Grombridal).

Said it before and will say it again.

It should be Ogors and Halflings, not Gnoblars.

Feral halflings. Who have their enemies for second breakfast.

    download.jpg

Lorewise in the whfb lore Ogres and Halflings were created at the same time by Old ones and they should have been united to help against chaos(both races are more resistant to his corruption),for some reason they got "different zones" and the symbiotic lifestyle never happened (one Ogre tribes had still some halflings as substitute to Gnoblars and they "were more sophisticated" in tech and manners iirc).

I'd love some return to that idea in Aos.

That was certainly true for WHFB, a clear influence of earlier fantasy works. But it feels different in AoS; I don’t think that the Orruks hold any particular enmity towards Duardin (or Aelves, on that matter) of any sort. They are hools - Eightpoints? Excelsis? Who cares!

I said that also because i'm just waiting impatiently for a dual box KO vs Grotbag scuttlers, let's bring the Karak eight peaks championship to the skies (throw in even a Skryre armada because it would feel wrong without them).
Still greenskins have an "infinite potential" that imho Aos is still not using at his fullest....hoping that the end of this edition will help those Boyz to get some new models and ideas.

One of the better things about the hobby over the past decade is I think there's been more of tonal variety. There's multiple iterations of greenskins from comedy to really quite scary, and it's the same for most factions. That option to choose your ratings level as it were is better catered for.

I always felt that Dark Elves and their 40k equivalent where a tough proposition because they're just excessively horrible and sadistic. You can't have a society made up of sociopaths, it's an oxymoron.

Ah i see...i love having both sides of the spectrum though XD (greenskins without a comedic side also feels wrong tbh).
Warhammer "exaggerations" are the spices of the settings though dare i'd say...still is interesting how Idoneth refreshed the idea of a "more stable elven society that has the same problems of Dark eldar without resorting to that madness".
Dark elves in whfb still were not that less sociopath though (see some festivites of the Khainite cult) but at least were more centralized and stable(or at least i always felt that way).

Every faction in GW's universes are bad in some respect. That's why Chaos is so central and so key. It's not about morality so much as moral Entropy.

That's the appeal of the settings(40k\whfb also) imho...while aos is more "heroic"to some extent there's only shades of gray and black(and the worst is obviously chaos).
Still my post was about the fact that imho Greenskins are too often seens as comedic while they are "much more scary" and "vile"(and that's a nice point imho).
I see many times also something similar is said for chaos imho sometimes that is seen by many as "misguided" or "anti-heroic"while they are obviously not (or at least i can say "road to hell is paved with good intentions").

Desing and the concept behind the design. To me, Warhammer Orcs are the force of nature, neither good nor evil or cruel, never corrupted by Chaos. The Kruleboyz are different; they are very clearly vile creatures.

Greenskins gets delight also from torturing and pillagin though...is too "exaggerated" calling them "not vile" (while still being a force of nature as Gorkamorka intended).
Even in wh40k people downplay too much their "vile side" and focus too much on the "funny side".

Considering the 6th edition book of whfb i remember a nice quote about that:
"I'm gonna stomp 'em to dust. I'm gonna grind their bones. I'm gonna pile 'em up inna big fire and roast 'em. I'm gonna bash 'eads, break faces and jump up and down on da bits dat are left. An' den I'm gonna get really mean."

Skarnik book is even worse, they clearly love acts of pure sadism.

I like Kruleboyz embodied that side of Mork worship that not only is "Cunning" but mostly is "malice that comes from being too cunning(for their own good i'd say)".

But maybe i'm biased as a dawi fan XD (tbh "Greenskins vs dwarfs" will be always my iconic idea of rivals in warhammer,as i love them both).

  17. Remember that new edition also "waste" some months for the box armies so we could even have SM and Tyranid release "dragged on" for at least 3 months without putting out much more else giving Aos more room to Breathe.
See kruleboyz\STormcast cycle and the Necron\SM one, i clearly remember 40k players being upset that the models came a long way after (september\october IIRC?).
