Yes, I'd say that's accurate. Lumineth Realm-Lords, Nighthaunt, Soulblight Gravelords, Ossiarch Bonereapers, Fyreslayers, and Stormcast Eternals are all seriously cringeworthy names, IMO. "Kruleboyz" still takes the Cringe Crown above all of them, though

Maybe it's because English it's not my native language, and it gives an aura of "coolness" to everything, but I don't find any of that cringeworthy. Maybe Fyreslayers and Kruleboyz, a bit.

When I first saw that name, I was wondering "who is that Krule guy anyway ?". ;)

So since then, I see them as "the boyz of Krule". Not that cringy in the end. :P

Well, in 40k the Land Raider is named like that because it was discovered by Magos Land, soooo... maybe we will get a hero model named Krule, sooner or later.

Just one detail I can’t stand: Big gryphhounds pulling the chariot?? Really? Like those things are now grown up. What where those gryphs before? Baby gryphhounds?!..so silly. They could have used Dracolines, Gryphchargers, Dracoths instead. Guess a new conversion project is calling

But... those are Demigryphs. Literally the oldest of the various original half-gryphs, coming from the old world. Stormcast are too big to ride them, but Freeguild has Demigryph Knights as an elite unit.

The material is quite unclear to me, it doesn't fit the metal bits (the leader has more plates on his mount), but it also doesn't really read like leather, or wood.

It might be wood with a tightly stretched squig hide bolted on it... but again, to achieve such look (there is no loose hide) would require some advanced craftmanship that they just don't seem to have.

EDIT:  Down here it looks a lot more like hide/leather IMO

The red could be just the colour of the squig used to make the shield.

Yes, but they look more like metal than hide/leather. Or at least that's my impression.

The Ironjawz actually punch their armour into shape they consider it just like fighting. Ard Boys are considered wannabe by the proper ones cause they had to forge the armour instead of forcing it into shape.

Oh, really? I remember it wrong then. Maybe it was my headcanon for the bright yellow armour, lol.

  5. I understand that the red is supposed to be there to provide visual contrast, but it's incredibly weird that Kruleboyz they take their time to paint their shields when they don't even bother to tailor some basic clothes. People said the same about Ironjaws, but at least those boyz took a lot of pride in their armour. I stand corrected about this

Instead Krulez care about stealth, and blending with the mist... so they paint their shield in the same exact shade of red-orange we paint bridges with because it's considered the most visible in the mist.

I wonder if they are going to show alternate paintstyles before the preorder.

Now the important question is, if this box comes with full units or is this cheating again. Vindicators and Annihilators come with three models, same with the kruelboyz crossbowmen. I would hate if it turns out you need five to create a unit.

Annihilators are massive, three sounds right. Boltboyz are snipers, so I guess they would be in units of three like castigators and 40k Eliminators

Praetors are a bit more tricky. They are bodyguards, so three might be right, but also five.

  6. I like the guys, but I don't know if I like them enough to stress to buy them in the 7 minute window they are gonna be up. I have a big pile of shame, and too little paint... ugh

I just would like to know what they are going to take out when they will make the starter boxes. Probably most heroes (I don't really care about them, I just like the two cute grots), but also Praetors and Boltboyz, who are my favourites. UGH.

I was wondering... what if they don't want people to play big centerpiece models?

    • From a business perspective, it doesn't really change that much, right? Usually big models tend to have a convenient points/money ratio. And I guess a lot of people would buy them anyway, just because they look cool, like dioramas.
    • From a lore perspective, it doesn't make much sense for gods to be in every skirmish, right? Maybe they care about stuff like this.
    • From a game perspective, tied with the point above, it's much more fun if seeing a god on the battlefield is rare. Right now is: "Oh, I'm against Amidmunch Potatokings, I should prepare against Tuberous the pancreas destroyer." Instead it should be a surprise. "Oh wow, he took the big fella. What is he planning?"
    • Big models are annoying to carry around. Again, they are much more Dioramas than toy soldiers. Maybe it's because they never wanted them to be a staple of the meta. Something that you buy for another reason and if you really really want you can use them in the game (like Cursed City villains)

    ***TINFOIL HAT OFF***

Yeah probably they just want to bump down the power level at the start of the edition so that they can later powercreep up with the various releases.

Dwarfs should hit harder because they’re physically stronger, whereas elves should hit better because they’re generally more skilled. Humans are sort of in the middle. And then you’ve got armour/defence-dwarfs should be harder to kill, elves easier to kill, and humans in the middle. You can then have specialised units that ‘break the mold’ as it were, but all 3 races fight significantly different, AoS rules just do a poor job of representing that without a strength and toughness characteristic

I agree, without strength and toughness there is no way to portray such small differences. So, since I think that mixed units would be extremely cool from lore and models prospective, they should simply "average" them.

You could somewhat justify this in universe as the basic units being not professional soldiers*, so their training doesn't make the most out of their natural strengths.

    * This was the norm in Italian City-States, which I guess is one of the main source of inspiration for Cities.

Cities Of Sigmar in my opinion is on life support. That book won’t ever get a new version. I suspect some factions within like Dispossessed to get expanded into their own battletomes eventually, but Cities will be retired. The book was a lazy rush job, the lore was fine but the rules were horrible. They took away the flavour and uniqueness the individual units had and gave them all the same stats and rules so no matter weather you took an aelf, Duardin or human, the rules were all the same. Duardin therefore lost their anti-magic banners and the allegiance abilities are worse than the Dispossessed ones from GHB (which I believe are actually still valid since they haven’t actually been replaced).

You know what, I actually like that aspect of Cities. Specialized units aside, a Dwarf doesn't fight in a MUCH different way than a Human or a Elf. I have already talked about that in this forum, but my dream for Cities is:

    • 6-7, low to medium cost, mixed race Batteline. They would form your core, and really represent the whole "citizens coming together to survive" . They should be sculpted in a style that makes the units feel coese despite the physical differences.
    • 3+ specialized units per race. Humans would have demigryph and witch hunters;  Duardin would have ironbreakers and flamethrowers and gyrocopters; HE would have sisters of the watch and phoenix guard, etc etc. These guys and heroes would be the one to contain the "different flavors" in the rules.

Is there any reason why not to give a few more models to Ironjawz?

Finite amount of time and resources, probably not much demand (I find the last part difficult to believe, but I don't believe I can teach GW their job. If there was demand, they would have capitalized on it)

Is this a New ork with a flame thrower like old skaven?? If it is I would love it, Destruction needs a faction full of guns and steam-mechanical vehicles and toys to destroy. Chaos has Skaven, Order has Kharadron, death dont need it... GW let destruction have toys!

If GW created a new faction of greenskins who use technology when Grotbag Scuttlers are right there, I'm gonna be very angry. I would still buy them, but angrily. I will put some angry emojis in the order's notes or something. That will show 'em.

well i know i'm gonna have to give them some noses that's for sure

Yeah, I'm a "big nose gobbo" fan as well. I love Pathfinder Goblins' lore, but I reject their stupid oval, almost noseless heads.

I hope that if there are goblins they have the same nose as their dank brothers.

here's our new guy in better quality, ngl not a fan really

Wow, this guy looks a lot more LotR than the Stormcast models look Bretonnian.

Seems... fine. Cloth/Leather/Hide armour, big oxidized shield, jagged bardiche. I can't see if the totem/antler thing is part of the helmet or comes from the shoulder.

It's not something that made my jaw drop but... I guess this is the "Freeguild Spearman" equivalent of the Krool Boyz, so we shouldn't expect too much. It also looks easy to paint, especially using contrast, and it's important for a starter set.

I'm excited to see the models!

New Units: Newborns of Behemat, little gargants the size of a rhino who crawl on the battlefield exploring the world with their mouth, like babies do. Their tiny teeth are growing, and they need to chew on heads!

...sadly it would be a bit too much morbid to be able to blast a baby out of the game with a rocket battery.

It seems to have had no effect on the mask, why would it effect anything inside? It's like putting silly putty over an object to make an imprint

That's not how blunt trauma works.

The stormcast's brain would have smashed itself on the inside of their skull. If they didn't die, it's only because of magical sigmar resilience or stuff like that.

Well, is not gonna happen, but an army of Fae (Faeries, pixies, that kind of stuff) would be incredible. They can look quite goblinoid. It match the folktale mood of the video and faes are usually asociated with being allies to animals (like the rumored wolfs). The only problem is this lore is already adapted into Sylvaneth and their spites.

I would love this! Basically the "Little People" that are present in many culture's folklores. Goblins, Gnomes, pixies...

The only thing is that I imagine them more "defensive" than "offensive". It's hard to imagine a number of those guys following the God of earthquakes to siege a city.

Honestly... I would be happy if they just gave me a plastic Skryre Acolyte kit. Those metal poisoned-wind globadiers were the same metal models when I was playing WHFB back in 98-99

They don't upgrade because of immersion.

Skaven poison themselves with the warpstone inside their weapons, just like skaven players poison themselves with the lead inside their miniatures!

I know that for someone may seems obnoxious but as SCE being similar to space marines i'd give them some lighting gheist construct like the dreadnought.
Unable to be reforged anymore they'd get encased in a Sigmarite golem that fulfill some heavy assault role.
Also we need a lord commander miniature.

I like this, I think we are going to see it sooner or later. I mean, how much infantry and cavalry can they create? They could also do BIG golems, like Knights!

I am afraid most of it is just wishfull thinking, or a general feeling that we already have enough Goblins, but you cannot ignore the signals I think, or you end up being be heavily disappointed

We won't have enough goblins 'till I get 5000 points of Grotbag Scuttlers ;)

  19. Between the rumors and the newsletter banner I would say it seems pretty clear it's greenskins...

But the thing the bugs me out is: Don't we already have a race of greenskins that lives in dank, dark places full of mushrooms? If it's not a full race it could be a "Fellwater" Clan in opposition to the "Rockgut" Moonclans that we have, but wouldn't be weird to start an edition with a subfaction?

I don't know, I just hoped in a new faction of Grots devoted to the sun, and a Swamp is like the polar opposite of sun. We will see.
