As for the AoS "books/lore" discussion, I really wish that GW and Black Library would invest more into building out the Mortal Realms. Regardless of subjective opinions, the actual game of AoS is in a solid place and the models/factions are in a very solid place, unfortunately, the weak leak for AoS is its "world-building".

It's not that the lore of the setting is "bad", it just feels a bit scattered and thin. There is so much potential in how the Mortal Realms could be portrayed. As was previously mentioned, The Horus Heresy's setting has been brilliantly explored through novels.

I think it’s an issue of sales rather than lack of ideas or motivation when it comes to AoS. We’ve had several trilogies cancelled after a book due to poor sales. Of course, that raises the question of if it’s the lack of sales driving the lack of support or the lack of support driving the lack of sales? GW seem to only print about 12 copies of their novels these days, if you don’t preorder day one good luck finding a print copy in non GW stores.

I personally like having more USRs for actually common rules, but I'm used to playing MTG so that's probably why. Definitely prefer it to having the same rule fully written out under a different name on several different warscrolls.

I’m the complete opposite. I prefer only needing to look at the warscroll to know what everything can do. I have zero desire to return to having to go through pages of a rulebook looking for a specific special rule. That got really old by 7th edition 40K and 8th edition fantasy.

Or even old world period, either way I’m looking forward to knowing when the battletome comes, I bet this image will be on his lore page if true

By the Old World period, Ushoran was already well into his ghoulish decline. His unfortunately incomplete Warhammer Legends “trilogy” shows his descent in the centuries just after Nagash was defeated in Nehekhara.

What's the diference between Fantasy Flagellants and Aos Flagellats?

WHFB flagellants were convinced (rightly) it was the End Times and people needed to repent and punish themselves for their sins.

AoS they flagellate themselves to purify the lands of the taint of chaos.

In AoS, they’re more of a plot element or part of the working mechanics of the background rather than something key to the tone of the setting, as in WHFB, if you get me. They’re not doing the same thing with flagellants and yeah, I think they’re slightly less important even if they’ve been given this mechanical role through the dawnbringers stuff. Wouldn’t mind seeing them expanded but they’re a different beast.

I can see their eventual replacement with a more AoS version of religious fanatics, especially after reading how the Cult of the Wheel behaves.

Do you mean things like Underworlds warbands? I've been assembling one and the plastic is definitely different: it feels harder, and sprues gates don't clip off as nicely (they leave little scars that are a pain to deal with).

This might just been a result of the dye used to color the plastic, or perhaps it's actually a different composition, but I also don't like it.

The red plastic doesn’t seem to take paint as well as regular grey. I lost patience with the Gorechosen they released in that colour.

As someone (relatively) new to the hobby, I think the idea of pre-painted miniatures would be a net negative.

You’re absolutely correct. Games that go from unpainted to pre-painted go bust. The best example is Starship Troopers. It had an acclaimed ruleset by Andy Chambers, fantastic multipart miniatures. And then to bring in new players they moved to prepainted models. And it instead killed off the game.

Lol. I read the terms for curiosity, because I don't know how the 'Twitter like' enters in the equation and I read that... is like being scammed xD The whole point of the raffle is unnecesary.

I am W+ sub, so just liked the game in Twitter, but c'mon, this is a cheeky way to try to catch W+ subs when you don't really need to.

It’s also technically impossible, because Twitter no longer exists. The twit in charge changed it to X. Not that I’d venture back onto that hellsite for any reason.

For sure, MESBG sculpts are notoriously bad, a lot of them made by trainees and new members of the team from what I've heard. They do still hold a special place in my heart as it's what got me into GW years and years ago but I wouldn't fancy building and painting any these days.

They were not made by trainees. Most of the metal range were the Perry twins and Brian Nelson. The difference is they were sculpted through the traditional method - green stuff by hand - so less precise and crisp than the current method using computers.

I meant that they need a more complex reason than simply "break and destroy Order". They want to do that, but why? Kill "weak" gods as a ritual? Kill "Order" to free their "enslaved" beings? Kill other factions because their are expansionist and imperialist will transform their homeland at dome point?

    But they do.
Brodd is out for revenge because of Sigmar slaying Behemat, as are a lot of gargants. Gloomspite Gitz are being spurred into action by Rabblerousers because Dawnbringers have the nerve to try colonising  underground cave systems.

Destruction factions have more motivation than just “let’s break stuff for the sake of it”.

  11. The future of the remaining Duardin and aelves probably depends on what they do with the races as a whole, and how the Old World does.

Since the last cities book, we saw Lumineth arrive which have the High Elf influence so it makes sense that the few remaining High Elf models that remained in the Cities would go.
And the Old World is bringing WHFB kits back, so GW still gets to sell the Phoenix Guard etc as part of that range.

So if we see Malerions shadow aelves in the future, then I can see the Dark Elf kits disappearing from the cities. Same if there is a third Duardin faction with a more traditional dwarfen style. And if Old World sells and expands it’s narrative further, those kits will be wanted for that range.

The most egregious slap in the face was them releasing an awesome new Avatar of Khaine with Eldar, but not giving it any rules for DoK...despite them also having the Avatar of Khaine. But no, we're stuck with the tiny T-posing idiot.

Convert the new one to be balancing on one leg to fit it on the 40mm base?

How likely do we think Ushoran is? I know he was named dropped recently, but hasn’t that happened before?

Personally, I’d be very excited to see him. Would single-handedly get my friend into the game

His heralds played a large role in the first Dawnbringer book, and hes heavily hinted at - about as much as Trugg was in the first book.  If Flesheaters are getting an expansion of their range, it would be more surprising not to see him than it would for him to be the centrepiece. And Death could certainly benefit from a personality that was definitely not pro-Nagash.
