12 factions. So far, those are : Fyreslayers, Nurgle, GSG, FEC, Warclans, SCE, Cities, Sylvaneth. Some of them had minis for 2 books (GSG/FEC). Leaves 4 factions left, one of them being definitely Khorne, I'd wager we still have 3 factions to uncover.
I don't know about including Cities of Sigmar on that list - they haven't had new models brought in via Dawnbringers as they had all their stuff in their new battletome already, iirc.

Just to make sure : they announced 12 models for dawnbringer or 12 factions ?
Factions.

Stormcast would work really well with the Dark Souls style of resurrection mechanic in an AoS Soulsborne game, that's for sure.

I'm a little sad that the varghulf has lost some of the angular, lupine elements of the old model. Those seem to have been transferred over to the Vargskyr instead.

They mention Dawnbringers 4 will have rules for all of the Death factions. I'm assuming we won't get releases for all four, so presumably Armies of Renown again. I'd guess at new releases for Soulblight (as the Aqshy army runs into the Vengorians) and Ossiarchs (that Morghast wing RE at last?).

Honestly I prefer the way this guy's actually wearing a ruff, too, to the gorewarden's bone-ring thingy.

It reads more to me like the flesh of his limbs was transmuted into hot quicksilver, hence why they're cooling pools beneath him rather than anything more solid or functional.

I wonder what's in the advent calendars.

Given the unfortunate associations of the particular model range, I wouldn't be surprised if GW drop Savage Orcs from the refined Old World WHFB line-up and drop Bonesplittaz from AoS.

I'd be genuinely surprised if we don't see Ushoran released in some shape or form with the new FEC book.

We've already got, what, 24 factions in the game? How many more factions can AoS functionally support, when we're already on a situation where some factions go for multiple editions without the model and rules support they need?

Lovely to see the idea of the satyr/centaur Kurnothi aelves being reinforced rather than quietly dropped.

Out of curiosity, have Halflings ever been mentioned in AoS lore? Did any make it out of the old world?
Some folks who sound very halfling-esque in terms of stature etc appear as the Rockwrists, one of the native Aqshyian groups in God Eater's Son. This particular group also have periwinkle skin.

I don't think the banner piece will be a Dawnbringers release. They suggested the books from 2 onwards would have a GA focus; 2 had entirely Destruction models released with it, and 3 had entirely Order models released. This would suggest any more Order models have missed the boat for a Dawnbringers role.
More likely the model is either a side-game release, so part of an Underworlds or Warcry unit, or is going to be released during 4th ed either alongside the new DoK battletome, or as part of something else new then.

Stuff from rumour engines doesn't necessarily come out any time near their RE preview. Even if this is a Morai-Heg-related AoS model, there's no guarantee it'll be out as part of Dawnbringers, is there?

What is all this talk of Kurnothi and Idoneth?
It is obviously Darkling Covens. Cities elves were the real GW favourites all along.
A new Cities of Sigmar Morai-Heg-worshipping elf unit would be a wild and unforeseen twist indeed.

Was the next Warcry matchup Order vs Death? Could it be a DoK Warband for that?
Wildcard suggestion: The Death side of this match-up could be Morai-Heg aligned.
(I really doubt it - I'd assume those following Morai-Heg would be Order-aligned - but it's not completely impossible)

Loads of people collect models and never play the game, the games are really just the main marketing department for the company.
Sorry for this wild tangent, Noserenda, but... is that a Shattered Tower tabard I espy in your profile pic?

Someone here talked about twisted Dawnbringer 5, and it is really not coming across too, maybe not, maybe yes. If you understand about rumours, guess, wishlist, and opinion, so this is place for this, isn't ?
The idea of a Dawnbringers book 5 comes from what the presenters said at Warhammer Day, when they said there would be a Dawnbringers book focusing on each of the other Grand Alliances after 2 was Destruction focused.

I don't personally think Ulgu is particularly likely for 4th. If Dawnbringers is leading into some hint of Skaven as the foe for the 4th ed starter, well, it's focused entirely on Aqshy and Ghyran. A reveal of some sinister Skaven plan therefore feels more likely to imply one of those two realms as the backdrop.
Then again, maybe 4th ed just won't have a realm focus in the vein of 3rd's Ghur.
-
It's worth noting the Death-focused book is unlikely to include anything new mechanically for FEC, precisely because the new FEC book is probably coming out soon. FEC already got their new thing for Dawnbringers in book 1, so while they might feature in the narrative you're more likely to see other Death factions getting actual new minis for whichever of DB4 or DB5 will be the 'Death' book of the series.
I suspect Ossiarchs will get some good new stuff, personally, though that's pure guesswork on my part.

I wouldn't count out elf/satyr Kurnothi just yet, definitely. I think it's very likely we'll see more of 'em in the future. They're a popular aesthetic that lots of people are looking forward to, and they definitely have that AoS feel.

I assume FEC stuff like the Summerking (if he's coming) will be out with the FEC battletome itself. It'd be weird to release him with a Dawnbringer book a month or so before the actual battletome itself.

If it's a rat ogre then the extensive amount of tactical rock makes me think either Clan Moulder special character or a mount/bodyguard for a character.
