Hey guys, preordered my dragons today. Have an upcoming event in 2 1/2 weeks. This is the list I will try to run. You have any suggestions, tips? Not sure about which command trait I should take. What do you think?
Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals
- Stormhost: Hallowed Knights
- Grand Strategy:
- Triumphs:
Leaders
Gardus Steel Soul (160)
Knight-Draconis (300)
- General
- Artefact: Amulet of Destiny (Universal Artefact)
Lord-Relictor (145)
Battleline
4 x Stormdrake Guard (680)
- Swords
- Reinforced x 1
5 x Liberators (115)
- Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
5 x Liberators (115)
- Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
Units
6 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (480)
- Reinforced x 1
Total: 1995 / 2000Battle lust I think it's called. Reroll run and charge rolls. If you're doing amulet, that's what I'd go with along with retreat and charge mount trait.
Otherwise Master Of magic, arcane tome, scintillating trail is an option for a mystic shield on the drakes and a rerollable unbind.
-
So this popped on on twitter as part of the US worlds team coach stating stormkeep redeemers are OP, drakes need to cost 380 etc
One of those opinions were that you can take and use multiple Call for Aid, thunderbolt volley etc.
Just seems like a strange take. They all start with "You can use this command ability once per battle..."
Even if you could in theory pick the same one multiple times, you still wouldn't be able to use it more than once per battle. Right?
-
Stardrake with Drakescale armour and Gardus riding shotgun would be a hell of an Anvil.
-
So how are people figuring we rule drakescale armor now that they couldn't be bothered to FAQ it?
-
I had actually missed that the exploding 6's last untill next hero phase. That makes it a tougher choice. Unless I'm going for Gardus or Aventis, I think CW is the best option for a raptor focused list.
I'm just a huge fan of being able to selectively reroll a save when it really matters.

The Stormkeep #10 is live now!
We have updated our unit/allegiance ability tier list to account for ~6 weeks of gameplay and the changes in the FAQ
If you're a new player check out the summary slide at the end of the video to get an idea of which units you should focus on for your collection
I think you're undervaluing Celestial Warbringers. I've found it to be very solid in a mixed list with raptors. It's a reroll in every phase - hero phase, shooting phase, enemy charge phase for unleash hell. Rerolling a save against a big damage attack is also pretty great. With our excellent saves, very few attacks get through, so having that reroll is super effective.
For something like a drakes+raptors list it's really good. Vindicators on 4 drakes would get you about 5 more dmg on the charge, whereas warbringers will give you about the same, if you take into account raptor doubletap and a reroll on one drake attack.
Vindicators will do nothing on the opponents turn, whereas warbringers will at the very least let you reroll a save in the shooting and combat phase.
It's doing something every turn, including the enemy turn. I'd put it in A tier. Just my perspective.

Any DRACONITH general makes Stormdrakes battleline, and both big drakes have the DRACONITH keyword
Stormdrakes are great, especially buffed up, but you can't heal them with Heroic Recovery or use Finest Hour, etc.
They are definitely on 40mm bases, there seems to be a typo on GWs website
Well damn, you're right. That bumps up the dragon princes for me. Congrats on guesting Vince's show. Was a great watch. Looking forward to more content from you guys.

Your Karazai list only has 1 battleline unit, right? You mention Karazai making sdg battleline, but isn't it only stardrake and knight draconis that do that?
I so badly want the big dragons to work, but then I start doing the math and it's just, oh, I could just buff up 4 SDG and be far better off..

Does anyone have any thoughts about things other than whether translocation is still useful?
If you're bringing a shooting block, you're taking translocation. Both of the other options look pretty good, but can you find room for two relictors? If nothing is within 18", that divine light relictor isn't doing anything.
The biggest issue is how important that one drop is. You'll have to give up that, if you want multiple relictors. Maybe if more castle type lists work. Stormkeep hallowed knights redeemer lists with Gardus and a solid shooting block could benefit a lot from divine light.
Our stuff is just so expensive that it's pretty hard to find the points.
Curse just seems useless. Outside of a doubleturn, no opponent is gonna let a relictor with curse get within 9". He'll either be killed or be out of range.
-
Of the new stuff theres very little thats great (SDG, draconis), a lot thats maybe okay (chariot, bastian, krondys, annihilators, yndrasta, vindictors, knight-judicator, vigilors, banner, praetors, imperatant) and some straight garbage (vanquishers, knight relictor, knight arcanum, karazai).
The maybe okay stuff can be made more useable with points adjustments, so that's good at least.
If they wanted to push new model sales through OP rules, they've done a really poor job.

How much do we think points can/will change for winter FAQ? Can we expect generel sweeping point changes (nerf/buff) or is it usually only targetted specific point changes during winter FAQ?
-
It will still be used to reliably double tap raptors. You can also teleport SDG, hero phase move+charge.
What it really means is that fulminators and foot paladins drop in value. Which is sad. I think MSU dracoth can still play a role. They have pretty solid, efficient warscrolls.
Our slow foot heavy infantry is out though.

Our only good command trait is now as bad as the other three. It now requires a stardrake general and only affects stardrakes, krondys and karazai.
-
Great to see SC taking some top placements, and with fairly varied lists. I didn't think the tome had much power outside of translocation/paladins/fulminators, longstrikes and drakes, but it seems I was at least somewhat wrong.
Would be nice to finally have that FAQ land so we can over the doubt on translocation. Untill I know which way that is going, it's tough to commit to any lists and build/paint towards that.

No dragons until December
And they only say dragon princes in december. There is no mention of SDG. Wanna bet they're not coming this year?
-
If they actually are taking the time to rewrite SDG warscroll, I sure hope they're taking the time to adjust all the bad stuff. I'd like Krondys/Karazai to be close to worth 600 points. Also, please fix our 3 trash command traits instead of just nerfing the single good one.

That would be a great customer goodwill move to sell us dragons and then nerf them a month later. I wouldn't feel cheated at all.
-
What about the SDG hero phase move? Do we think that will still be useable in combination with an FAQ'd translocation? Any similar comparisons to make?
Mirror dance and lumineth teleport both have the wording ".. cannot make a move in the next movement phase."
So SDG hero phase move will probably survive.

This list took the tournament down 5-0. It was a 75 player event.
A Hallowed Knights list and a Knights Excelsior list both went 4-1 in a 43 player event in Sweden.
Our book seems to work even before drakes and annihilators are released.
Got any link or idea what the other lists were?

I ended up going 3-2 today at Mancunian Carnage, one SCE list came first and I'm pretty sure another finished higher than me too.
I've just had some bad personal news, but when I feel better I'll do a writeup if anyone is interested.
Sure, always interested in SCE battle reports. Congrats on the 3-2.

the 2x Liberators; 1x Vindictors as battleline is based on tight points, isn´t it? Or is there any advantage of using Liberators instead of Vindictors?
There is an advantage in a subtle way, but mostly it's a matter of points.
You will almost never be using AOD on an MSU unit of libs or vindictors, so their survivability is the same.
Vindictors are slightly better offensively. But only if all their models are alive. Liberators have the advantage that much of their dmg is in the prime and lay low the tyrants, which means they can lose 4 models and still do a good portion of their damage.
Personally I'll take liberators every time, unless reinforcing the vindictors or playing hallowed knights. Even with some points left over, I'd rather go for a triumph.

Why though, because no dragons are out yet?
Tourneys in Denmark require FAQ'd battletomes.

Sigh, guess I'll have to play the old battletome for upcoming tourney. List due the 12th. Can't wait for all this waiting to be done and FAQ's+winter FAQ to be over, so we can find out what potential SC really has for 3rd edition.
-
It's not like vindictors are amazing. I'll use liberator's over them almost always. I don't care about their small amount of more damage, because they're not there to do damage.
Vanquisher's are completely pointless. With such a bad warscroll, they'd need to be significantly cheaper than libs before I'd consider them.
Stormcast Eternals 3.0 - There is no "a" in Vindictors

Nice anti SC hyperbole. Play some actual games against competent opponents. Terrible list btw.
