  1. ./sigh

Sad times for us goats. Just as it was getting good.

Once summer 2025 comes around, and I've had one last blast with my boys; I'm gunna take a look at the state of other potential armies to proxy as. Currently the thought is I can do some slight conversions and run a pretty decent Disciples of Tzeetch army. Or as many have suggested, Slaves to Darkness will cover a lot of like for like units (Gors as warriors, ungors for darkoath, etc)

  2. So my revised list might look something like this:

    Beastlord

    Shaman

    Shaman

    Gibbering Congregation

    Tzaangors x10

    Tzaangors x10

    Gors x20

    Ungor Raiders x10

    Ungor Raiders x10

    Cockatrice

    Ghorgon

    Ghorgon

    puts me on 1990pts.

the Beastlord hangs with the gors and cockatrice

each shaman hangs with tzaangors, a ghorgon, raiders.

a spawn goes with each group. so the army splits into 3 mini squads, each with support, chaff and debuffs.

I'm sure I'll get a better feel for this as I play more games, I just dont have that much actual experience under my belt yet.

Looking at it I am afraid its a bit all over the place. Let me try to sum up some major sticking points so you can maybe adjust your strategy with that in mind.

You have a Beastlord but no bestigors or Tzaangors for him to buff.

3 Shamans are also bit too much. Two Gorghons but no Bullgor hero to make them charge out of sequence. A unit of Drago Ogs. is not a bad choice, though they are pretty expensive currently. But two is a bit too many in this specific list.

Also you lack any of the debuff pieces outside of relying on the spells from your Shaman which depending on your opponents might not even get through when you need them. No cockatrice, no giant and no gibbering congregration is a nono.

Beastmen are not a army that has good standalone warscroll but rather an army that (finally) has important internal synergies between heroes and units as well as solid debuff pieces to weaken the enemy and allowing you to pick them apart piece by piece rather than one heroice battle that decides it all.

I would suggest to get at least one Cockatrice and or a Giant in there, and replace the Beastlord with a Minotaur. Or alternatively, remove one Gorghon and one Drag. Og unit and add at least 20 infantry Tzaangors or Bestigors for your Beastlord to stick with and buff.

If you have some spare points at the end a Charriot or two make for defense flank chaff hunters.

Good way to look at the army is to separate the whole army into "mini squads" where a specific hero and his dedicated unit plus a buff/debuff piece can operate on their own. That way your army isnt just a random mix of units that dont really synergize and rely on brute force, which BoC doesnt do as well as one would hope, while ensuring that if you loose one crucial model the whole thing wont fall apart. :)

This is majorly helpful thank you!

ithink I was just relying on brute force of warscrolls and hoping the Allherd bonus keeps my board presence relevant.

I do have access to 20 bestigors, cockatrice, and the congregation so maybe I'll write a new list up with an eye for debuffing.

what are your thoughts on a shaggoth to support the DrOgres? too much investment?

is gavespawn the best sub faction right now?

  4. Hey guys, just looking for a little feedback for a list I'm thinking of running.

Going in for a little local league and I'd like to not get crushed every game.

    Allegiance: Beasts of Chaos

    Greatfray: Allherd

    Grand Strategy: Desecrating Brayherd

     LEADERS Beastlord (140)

General - Command Trait: Skullfray Gorehorn

    Artefact: Brayblast Trumpet

    Great Bray-Shaman (100)

    Great Bray-Shaman (100)

    Great Bray-Shaman (100)

    UNITS

    20 x Gors (220) - Gor-Blades & Beastshields

    10 x Ungors (80) - Shortspears & Half-Shields

    10 x Ungors (80) - Shortspears & Half-Shields

    10 x Ungor Raiders (130)

    10 x Ungor Raiders (130)

    3 x Dragon Ogors (210)

    3 x Dragon Ogors (210)

    BEHEMOTHS

    Ghorgon (240)

    Ghorgon (240)

Undecided on spells yet, and maybe changing the artefacts.

I haven't looked into battalions yet.

    TIA!

  5. New GHB points! Looks like a few things have dropped by a bit, no increases. Quite pleased with this I think!

Bestigors seem to be more efficient than ever!

    Thoughts?

Edit: mostly 5/10 point drops for some units.

Endless spells have all dropped substantially

Was it hard to do? Where did you source the loin cloths from?

Actually pretty simple! I'm not the best with greenstuff. But fur is a doddle.

The loincloths are from the marauders kit ithink, capes for them. Seemed a perfect fit as the front part looked a bit ugly where the transition is

I actually have 5 more that havent had their greenstuff added who looo better than the first 5 but mine are made from the horses off the chaos chariot mixed with bits from khorne skullreapers as I run a Skullfray.

Oh nice work! The Knights/skullreapers work really well!

I'm gunna be aiming for something a little less armoured, but no fewer horns and spikes. I'll post some pics when I get my mock ups sorted

  8. Okay, now that Warhammer fest is all done with and we've kinda been forgotten about (with the exception of some future awesome bullgor proxies) I took it upon myself to decide to increase the herd with some centigors and dragon ogres, to keep my new Shaggoth conversion company (half karkadrak, half ogroid)

Centigors will be half marauder horses, half gors naturally. Cos the old sculpts stink.

I'd love to see anyone elses take on this.

  9. Imo, the spectral bolts special rule is great! Flavoury and unique.

But the stats just suck butt. They won't do any meaningful damage.

Maybe they have a huge movement and therefore a large threat range? Dunno, shame

I have no update available for my app so I cannot see these changes or addition for mannok.

but his rules actually look rather good and his melee profile is actually not that bad. Points are reasonable aswell.

GW def didn’t put the intern on this one.

    Nope, I smell intern.

Mannock doesn't have the Kruleboyz Orruk keyword, so venom encrusted weapons does nothing for him. So his ability to give him mortals on 5+ is pointless

Edit: the warscroll does look cool though, I like his bodyguards rule. Plus the model is badass!

Edit 2: I might be wrong! Has the ruling for the venom weapons changed?

  11. Detailed design makes me happy! It's so impressive that the sculptors are able to do the things that they can!

When I got the new SC slaves to Darkness I was blown away by the dynamic poses on those knights, I eagerly clipped them off and glued them up. It was only starting to paint that I realized I had no hope of getting to all those details with a brush. I was pretty disheartened. I sort of made an attempt with contrast but I couldn't do it all justice.

That's my only issue with the details and dynamism. I usually can't reach them without sub assembly, which isn't my favourite way to hobby. I spent years in the habit of getting a box, clipping, glueing , then painting, and the results were great, very few hard to reach areas. But as the quality of models has gone up, I'm forced into half building and painting. It's jarring, but I'm learning.

  12. Howdy Boyz!

Im wondering what people think of the Murknob with belcha-banner. How useful has he been in your games? I can see how his magic deny can be quite affective in certain matchups but it's no guarantee. And his damage output could be quite useful for supporting some gutrippaz taking down a hero etc.

I have no experience with him yet, he's still un- built. Ultimately I'm wondering if I should convert him into another shaman for tasty buffs.

Seeing a lot of theory lists taking 2 swampcallas and the Murknob doesn't get a look in!

He would be awesome with a unit of Murknob brutes bit they don't exist sadly.

    Thoughts? Conversion ideas? HMU

  13. Soooo... I'm thinking of not getting the Battletome straight away( whenever it may drop). I have the Dominion half and I will totes get some big beasties at some point, but my Boyz aren't likely to see the table much any time soon so I'm not too keen to invest in everything.

Honestly I'm a little worried that there will be a 2nd wave of models along with a newer BT. LRL style. How likely do we think this will happen?

Many models with Shields actually get a whole different Save Stat, in fact.  Ie, they say "Your Save stat becomes a 5+" instead of the normal 6+.

These should stack perfectly well with All Out Defense.

Just my poor poor beastmen then. All those options are 'add +1 to saving throws with models equipped with beastshields'.

I'm fine with the rule being capped at +1, but if it was baked into a warscroll rather than altering the dice roll it would be a welcome change.

My eg above the Killaboss with a shield can still benefit from all out defense. Sadly Gors/ungors cannot. I dont know of other warscrolls this affects but I bet they're out there

Edit: had a quick look on the app for shield mobs. Grots, clanrats, fyreslayers bezerkers to name a few all get +1 to saving rolls for having shields. No all out defense I'm afraid.

  15. Hey gang! I don't know if this has been asked, but regarding the new rules specifically 'all out defense'.
Models equipped with shields generally get +1 to saves. So they cannot benefit from the new command ability with saves being capped at +1.
To me this just feels bad
How likely is an errata? Eg models equipped with a shield have a sv value of X instead of y. There is precident for this to be the new format, see: killaboss warscroll

  16. Yeah I'm sure I'm not the only one but I'm quite underwhelmed by the Kruleboyz warscroll leaks. Gutrippaz 5+ sv, boltboyz 6+ sv seems like a joke. Compared to the stormcast they're boxed with it's very one sided. Ynndrasta could probably solo half the orruks without breaking a sweat.

    The salt is real.

It gives us an idea of the increasing armour saves GW are going with, not just for the poster boys which is a good thing IMO.

I may have to re-evaluate how effective loincloth armour is!

EDIT: it seems they may have snuck in a new unit type that we haven't seen for the KruleBoyz; Beast-breakaz. As well as hinting at more swamp gribblies!

  18. Just here to say I am super pumped to start collecting KruleBoyz!

They'll be my first destruction faction army to date. I do hope they are slightly elite though! The hobgrots obvs will be 1 wound chaff screens. But hopefully the gutrippaz Boyz will be at least 2 or 3 wound guys. They are orruks after all! I like me some meaty infantry and they'll need to be to even stand a chance against them hefty primaris stormcast

Imo Chosen can excel if you use them combined with the Chaos Lord Command Ability to let them fight a second time.

My issue with them is their old models though xD

I don't mind the sculpts themselves, it's the price tag that comes with that's a little eye watering for me.

I have been looking at Avatars of War chaos corruptors as a proxy

  20. Yeah I feel any unit needs heavily investing with buffs/Command ability  to make it more impactful, bit like has been pointed out the base sizes really hinder them, and on the table you'll rarely get them in that ideal position, which is where the chosen might pull ahead? Likewise, it'll be hard to get them all in fighting range but even half a unit has more attacks at a similar profile than knights

  21. Hey guys

What are people's thoughts on chaos chosen as a heavy hitter unit? Like others I have found battle line choices to be a bit lackluster when trying to dish out damage.

Their profile seems pretty solid, whack on a mark of khorne and they suddenly look pretty scary with all those attacks rerolling ones to hit and wounding on 2's plus additional MW.

On the more expensive side, granted. But I don't really see another option. Would a 10man unit be effective line breaker?
