  1. If Spearhead uses plain core rules they can't add nothing, because that addition should carry on when putting modules in, in this case magic one, so wizards will have "magic ability" plus spells and or one of those is weak or the model is going to be overpowered.

Yes, but this will take time and will not be free anymore. What is a better system is to add the balance / rules updates online, so problems are quickly fixed and than they can add all those fixes per 6 months or so in a new book with the new updated modules. So players can chose that keep using the errata's online or buy the new book with everything nicely updated.

Also Module X is released in june, after a couple of months it becomes clear dat Module X needs some changes. They update, "rewrite it form the ground up", make some cool Warcom articles about it. Sell the book for X euro. Than after a couple of months it becomes clear that rewrite is as good as hoped. So again a rewrite, again a new book and again paying X euro. While in the past this was free.

You can see it perfectly with the Battlescrolls that not every solution fix the problem or sometimes create new problems. The big change now is that you will have to pay for these fixes.

But that is not different to the actual way they do things. Weapon ranges were not working at the beggining of the edition, then they changed it in the second ghb adding the battallion that lets you fight in two files. Or magical-dominance armies are a problem because my poor little wizards can’t cast a ****** or dispel anything, so they introduced primal dices in our last ghb.

I mean, if you are right and erratas like we had this week with dw4 and fec are paywalled the game is gonna be doomed, but I think that this is about big switches in core mechanics via ghb, like we already have.

In the Warcom article they said that with the new system they don't have to do "online" errata's anymore, but fix it with a new book. I honestly can't see how this is an improvement. First the balance update isn't free anymore and secondly it can't never be as fast as they can release it online.

Books and such are fine, but rules updates and balance updates during an edition should be online and preferably free. As lots of people see the new system as a computer game. Patches should be free. DLC not, but DLCS should include more than balance/bug fixes. It needs new units, battleplans and etc. .

As it is worded now it will no be free anymore as it was the case with battlescrolls during 3rd edition.

I think Matt explained it in the worst possible way.

A change in the economy of command points is not an errata or even a balance you can get in a quarter faq set, is a big change in the mechanics of the game, so instead of applying layers of little patches to try to fix ir, they can scrap entirely the system and rewrite it from the ground, creating a new “module” that can full replace the one that is not working. And if the fix is not working you can make a new one or come again to the first one without needing to undo all faqs/erratas o revise faqs/erratas in a dozen of pdfs.

That is how I understand the statement.

    We will see 🙂

Edit: it's not that they now do monthly FAQ/Errata's/battlescrolls, it's 2-3 times a year? Perfect doable for GW to replace it with a book instead. 😉

No, erratas come 1-2 months after each book, including battletomes, ghb's, core rules and campaign rules, plus 4 sets of erratas each year in the quarters.

They literally listed all the realms they represented in their original rules, and you got a lot wrong. Shackles are Shysih, Mirrors are Ulgu, Swords are Chamon, Cogs are Azyr, Geminids are Ulgu and Hysh, and Pendulum is non-aligned.

The pendulum was not invoked in Ulgu for Morathi to kill Malerion?

That's the problem with just buying what it is meta. It is not related to spells or scenery. It happens with any kit.

Yeah I know I know, I made a meta example about the problem, but can happen to everyone.

Tzeentch's endless spell became a core part of their book, if you don't have them, you can't play it at 100%. Chalice in FeC unlocked a new way of building a list, same with stormcast and meteor or Nh with the auto-cast; Sylvaneth needed theirs until the release of belthanos (and still take it), Khorne needs all of them, same as Fyreslayers. You are going to feel that your list is missing something.

With sceneries is even worse. Is impossible to play without scenery in Gloomspite, BoC, Sylvaneth or Nurgle, is a big hit in your list for idoneth, khorne or ogors.

They are such a integral part of some strategies/armies/playstyles that the lack of stock causes frustration.

  8. The problem with endless spells is the same as faction scenery.

Suddenly one of them becomes meta relevant (purple sun, malevolent, umbra, hell, even vortex in second edition) and you discover that there is any stock of them for months and second market price went to the moon, so you can't play it.

The gw nerfs it, the stock came back and you don't even need it.

    How about Kurnoth hunters 🤔

They can choose to give them one statline for melee another one for ranged or make 2 different warscrolls.

More interesting are the dracoths and paladins for stormcast, because everyone of them have different abilities. Maybe GW merge them? Maybe keep separating warscrolls? Maybe they are going away?

Mmmm I'm not sure I understand this second part... Does it mean that a unit will have a single combat attribute independently if they are equiped with swords or lances? Like the current SBGL skeletons?

Yes, like Cryptguard, all weapons with the same statline.

Sounds difficult to balance. perhaps they changed the rules to something along the lines of each player only being allowed one Endless spell per game.

I think you need to pick the "endless lore" to use them and reject your faction lore, so I suspect that nobody will do that xD

But the humies will be sold for Empire. If Dark Elves are removed from AoS there'll be nowhere for GW to sell those models while Dark Elves remain an unsupported Old World faction.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying delves are going to dissapear this summer, but is just a matter of time.

They literally don't have spiders in ToW Orcs and Goblin army list and Lizardmen are a legacy faction, I dunno what you're looking at.

I'm looking at fantasy models and, for me, every pre endtimes model is just a filler until they refresh it or is going to get cutted.

If BoC and cities’ dwarves are gone to TOW, then I wonder why don’t they bother to also remove dark elves and represent them in TOW as well?

Delves are in danger aswell, like older human minis like the tanks, the chicken or the flagellants. Same with spiders in Gloomspite or Bonesplitterz, maybe graveguard and such and the skink range.

To be honest, I think everything pre endtimes can leave AoS at some point.

I generally don't keep harping on it, but @Whitefang back me up, who we can now definitely confirm has inside knowledge of 4th ed, literally said that Beasts will soon no longer be playable in AoS. And Whitefang did indeed back them up (through reactions).

IMO, the evidence is against Beasts staying, as sad as it is.

And the sad faces of Singapur WG, even Rob (that was the first one) if you want to add him to the mix.

Every known leaker is pointing that BoC are going to say goodbye to AoS soon, with any replacement or refresh, just a goodbye.

Exactly. Of course, BoC were always going to get an Index (Called it being an Index edition not long after seeing what happened in 40k). They just won't be getting a Battletome under the name BoC if there is a "Beast-like" BT on AoS4 at all.

BoC will not exist as they currently do by the end of AoS 4. All the BoC (Including the Shaman and Warlord) will be sold for ToW and the range will be reimagined or removed.

If BoC get an index that means they survive all the edition.

On the other hand, it was a valid mechanic that could help underpowered units against stronger opponents (if they didn't have a ridiculous Bravery). It was a useful mechanic, when it worked, so hopefully its removal will be compensated somehow.

40k's approach is better I guess.

You lose your new battleshock roll? Ok, you can't contest objectives or receive commands, but your nice painted minis are still there in the table.

starting to really feel like Malerion and/or Tyrion will be the narrative tools used to put Order back on the offensive, whenever that is.

Maybe that is the plan for 5th edition, as we should reset the cycle and go back to focus in order like 1st edition.

Votann and World eater got released at the same time

Tyrion and the lumineth are a already establish faction having Lumineth wave of models in the new edition during there tome cycle or a subfaction wave  is not out te realm of possibility as shown with Slaves to darkness. It not like the Tyrion side require a complete wave

Like what exactly is in the pipeline

    Ogre refresh

    Beast of Chaos

    Cities of Sigmar part II

    Fyreslayer

    Bonesplitterz?

The rest of the faction that "need stuff" doesn't need a complete refresh just a couple models to buff out the battscrolls in the same vain as sylvaneth

Like 3 edition we got Kruleboyz (basically an entire new army), Cities of sigmar, Slaves of Darkness & Darkoath, Seraphon, Flesh eater & Sylvaneth

    4th got enough space

Reallistically, I only see Ogors and CoS 2 as big refreshes, fs idk, dok, tzeentch or obr, as armies that feel uncompleted just need an expansion like ironjawz and popular armies such lumineth or soublight could be nice with the Sylvaneth/nh treatment with 3-4 boxes.

    Two new armies could fit.
