Making progress through the Dawnriders over the past couple weeks, but it's been very slow going - I concur with everyone who has pointed out how laborious they are to assemble and paint. While a lot of my original lists included two units of them, I definitely won't be subjecting myself to painting another 5 (at least not any time soon). Still, I'm happy with the results so far:

Not perfect, but for the difficulty level I'm satisfied. I'm probably going to switch over to working on Eltharion now, just to have some fun and cleanse my palate before trying to finish the last 2.

Also, my LGS got their Lumineth delivered today! Just got back from picking up my pre-order:

So I've got a whole lot of painting ahead still... but I figure hey, once I survive the Dawnriders, the rest of the army should be a cakewalk!

Looks like you ordered the same as me (10 wardens, 20 sentinels, cathaller and warscrolls). Edit (just noticed it was wardens and not sentinels in the bottom of the package.

I found the Warhammer tv youtube guide different to the book guide. At least for ymetrica.... But I might steal their suggestion of painting skeleton horde over the whole model!

Loving the looks of the eternal guard and wildwood rangers, the eternal guard seem a bit too defensive though, how are they performing for you? I guess you could charge them in and as long as they don’t just straight up die, and don’t pile on next turn, they will be very hard to kill with their 3+ save.

Well, I'm not sure if pile in counts as a move? Since you so it in the combat phase.

They are great for holding objectives, or chokeholds. As long as they don't die, they can usually give a punch back.

  3. When I was young I wouldn't have wanted an army made of women (sadly), but today I feel it makes armies more interesting.

I bought the cathaller? (The debuff mage) for Lumineth and think it's a great model (except the feet).

I'm not sure about the wardens, but to me, some faces look feminine and I think it fits the lore with having both "male and female" soldiers in the army.

I would find it neat if gw included heads and options to make models have the gender you like, after all, they charge a lot for their models...

The sisters of the watch/shadow warriors and wild riders/sisters of the thorn offer that choice (but it's different warscrolls though) so it's not impossible for them!

Overall, I think and hope that gw will offer more for everyone in the coming years.

I have to admit I was slightly puzzled, having built Wardens and Dawnriders, about the amount of customisation possible.  Maybe with my next set of Wardens, I'll see if arm-swaps are possible.  The claim does feel like a bit of a stretch at the moment, though.

The only thing I really feel you can do different is the warden where you have to glue the shoe on and the faces on all the models.

Most of the cities of Sigmar models (the wh fantasy Models) seem to make customization much better (at least the wood elf range (eternal guard kit).

I'm not sure what difference to can make with the Dawnriders and the wardens really are.. maybe the way to have the arms differently with the sergeant?

  5. I first thought about just buying 10 sentinels, but then I found a store that had 7% off the price for pre orders, so I decided to go all in and spend 145€....

So I added 20 sentinels, 10 wardens, cathallar and warscrolls to make a 1010 point army. I guess for the expansion I could buy teclis and 5 more dawnriders.... But it will probably take a while!

I read that they did warn about price increases earlier this summer, but it still sucks... At least I finished my CoS army before this!

Hello! So I just got into Age of Sigmar and chose the Cities of Sigmar as my army. I really like the Wanderers and decided to build my force around them, starting with the battletome, a Nomad Prince, Sisters of the Thorn/Wild Riders box, a Sisters of the Watch box, and an Eternal Guard/Wildwood Rangers box. I have a few questions however before I delve further down the rabbit hole:

    1. I also really like the Phoenix Temple city and was considering Phoenix Guard and a Flame Phoenix in my army. Would that disrupt the synergy of having units solely from The Wanderers? Also, could the Sisters of the Thorn cast their Shield of Thorns on the Phoenix Guard?

    2. I noticed that the Sylvaneth can be 1 in 4 units in a Wanderers army, they also look super cool and fit in nicely with the Wood Elves. Would this option not become available if my army was anything other than entirely Wanderers units? (Such as if I included a unit of Phoenix Guard)

    3. Are there any other units anyone can recommend to me that would supplement the Wanderers nicely?

Really stoked to be getting into this hobby, my girlfriend also got a Nighthaunt force based around Lady Olynder and banshees. We are definitely casual players for now but in the future, for sure going to bring our armies to battle at our LGS!

Welcome! I did exactly like you back in September '19.

You can use all units in the Cities of Sigmar army together.

    1. Your nomad prince does only boost wanderers with it's warscroll command ability, but they could get boosted with the general ones. The spell armor of thorns from the sisters of the thorn does only work on wanderers sadly.

    2. That's correct, but only if you play "The living city (that's the one I play). I use Kurnoth Hunters, Spirit of Durthu and a Arch revenant.

    3. If you like Phoenix guards, then feel free to get them. You could also get the anointed hero to boost them, if you feel for that. I'm a casual player, so some more experienced players can probably give some good suggestions. I use the ballista from storm cast eternals and find it pretty funny to use with the repeater option.

guys if i hot 3 units of 3 wardens, can i cast their spell for every unit? Or just 1 like every spell? Thx!:)

If you mean their warscroll spell so yes (I recall it saying that you can cast it multiple times for the army at the last sentence).

Edit: saw someone else answering this.

  8. Hi y'all!

I have been looking at this forum for months but haven't joined. But now I had a question that made me join the community.

In the designer's commentary it says the following:

Q: If a friendly Syar unit that is wholly within 18" of a
friendly Syar Hero uses the ‘Deplete Reserves’ command
ability, is it possible to use both of that unit’s aetherquartz
reserves on the same ability (such as ‘Heightened Senses’) in the
    same phase?
    A: Yes.

If that unit uses 2 quartz on for example heightened senses, does that grant the unit +2 to hit rolls?
