Could you post some Death points changes for me Bjarni St.?

The battalions have gone up, deathlords come down a bit. Most other stuff remains the same. Crypt horrors and flayers are up 20 pts Ghoul king on foot is up 20 pts

  2. What effect would removing mortal wounds altogether have on hinterlands?

I appreciate I've only played with low level warbands with not a lot of experience, but does stuff end up with the uber saves that mortal wounds were designed to prevent?

if mortal wounds were replaced with wounds at rend 1, would that solve the issue?

Having played shadow war last night I also think there is something to be said for the knocking down with chance to recover idea, but appreciate it adds a layer of complexity that was never in the original rule set

  3. I played my first couple of games with this last night and I really wanted to like it, maybe it's our local scene, but I got absolutely smashed off the table very quickly.

Opposing player had a lord celestant; lord relictor and 3 liberators

I had a vampire lord, spirit hosts and 5 skeletons.

The mortal wound output of the celestant took off my characters turn one. The skeleton warriors did precisely nothing.

Now, I completely get that this is a narrative game and I'm in it as much for the story as everything else, but the story of these games was just my complete lack of participation!

Anyone any good ideas for death warbands that will survive beyond turn one? We have no shooting and no mortal wound output beyond arcane bolt, but I can't work out a way to get more than one wizard in without it becoming very low model count?

I dont think GW have 'neglected' Death any more than theyve 'neglected' Humans or Aelves, or Goblins, or Beastmen, or Skaven, or any other race that hasnt seen new models outside of random Silver Tower models. Its just not been their turn yet.

agree, but humans, aelves, goblins, beastmen are allegiances, not a so called 'grand' alliance. The funny thing is that people think 'death' is an army akin to 'stormcast' when of course it should be akin to 'order' but it's nowhere near.

And you're right, I could go and play another army, but I've invested in this one, both my time and money. I like it. I'm not even asking for models, a blades of khorne like release for Deathrattle would be absolutely perfect.

  5. Soooooooo, any rumours on any death stuff?

Unless GHB2 brings allegiance abilities and artefacts for the smaller allegiances; it might be time to try 40k, and not pick the army which receives no updates.

It leaves a bit of a sour taste; if we can do something like blades of khorne, a re-tooled grand alliance death book would work an absolute treat at the moment, but it appears it'll be 40k all the way now

I'll try and come for a nose during the event. I have a game there in a week or so against a friend anyway. There are a few that play elsewhere as well, so the scene is definitely getting bigger in Lincoln, BOBO will only help that as well

Let us know if you want in on the group chat (whatsapp) there's a fair few people that play regularly and it's a good way to arrange games

I'm starting to think making shooting a tandem phase like combat is not such a terrible idea.

    1) You can still shoot into and out of combat.
    2) You still have the same total rounds of shooting available.
    3) It lessens the impact of a shooting army catching a double turn.
    4) All-melee armies have some benefit.
    5) It makes you have some harder choices in target selection like with close combat.
    6) It is relatively simple and in keeping with the spirit of the rules.

What benefit would melee only armies get?

Is a one-week, book only release. If Death got a book and no new models people would be furious. Come on guys, it's extremely likely Death will get a huge release with tons of new models, a new aesthetic and a new faction with matching fluff. It's not something you can squeeze in between 40k releases, they will need a full month.

I'd be happy with a death book, if nothing else is on the horizon. It does feel like playing an older game already, with very few batallions, few spells etc.

However when the dark elves come back as uneasy allies of Nagash I will of course be more than happy ;)

You mean the way they reduced the costs of Mannfred, Neferata, Morghasts Blood Knights and Hexwraiths to offset the savage and punitive points increases to Tomb Kings?

Oh wait. The problem is that those wanting nerfs are very vocal about it, while there's limited passion for chipping 5-10% off the cost of the slightly overcosted units.

My hope is that for something like the generals handbook, they are looking at everything as a whole rather than units in isolation.

I could be way off though

And yeah I hope deathlords becomes a thing again. Or in fact, just Death.

I have seen several people saying the points cost of kurnoth hunters should go up. I believe if this happens it will nerf the entire army. Sylvaneth doesn't have much in the way of variety and hunters are the only hard hitting unit they have. Sure, Durthu hits hard, but he is over costed. Someone stated earlier that several Sylvaneth units are over costed so I believe it all balances out once it's all said and done. There are plenty of ways to deal with greatbow kurnoth hunters. Also, it's worth noting they don't have a way to increase their piddly 50% chance to hit. They are good but they are needed to keep the army competitive.

I guess the idea would be that stuff which is over pointed would go down to balance it out. The bow hunters seem appropriately pointed to me, it's the scythes that are out

They could give Mannfred and Neferata the Soulblight Keyword and a 3+ save as an interim fix.

I've said it elsewhere, but I'm fine with no new models for death, but a book of batallions, spells and allegiance abilities would be 80% of what is needed to make them interesting to play (with and against) again. Updated warscrolls would be great. I realise sales are driven by new models, but I want what chaos space marines got in traitors hate - rules that fit the units fluff and make them balanced. No new models required

Although new models would be lovely

Apologies, I was quoting a previous conversation regarding Silver Tower characters who have had nothing else for their AoS faction. I have no rumour info.

One of the rumormongers did mention Skaven in 2017 though. Eshin would seem the most likely existing Skaven faction IMHO, but could be a whole new clan of course.

    Rumour confirmed, undead skaven inbound!

  13. It will be interesting to see if prayers are only for non-wizard factions. There's no reason that e.g. Vampires couldn't pray to Nagash as well as using death magic.

The prayers that make your opponent re roll 6's could be incredibly irritating - especially as you can cast it on more than one unit in your army

Tell me more about this!  Are you just a store, or a gaming space too.  Are your club nights at the store?

Hey Ben - I am an interested player and someone that wants to grow the community - not employed by the store @ImpsMaster is one of the store owners.

It's a store with a large gaming space behind. I think there is easily room for 20 6" x 4" tables but there may be more with some rearranging of space.

We have a group of us that will play on a Tuesday evening - games usually arranged before hand via whatsapp group but some people will drop by as well. If you count the store and the gaming hall as one place - yes they're at the store but really they're in the gaming hall.

They are aiming to run a tournament every 6 weeks or so, alternating between straight up matched, pairs and narrative stuff.

I will try and find some pics of the space when I get home
