My issue with Kruleboyz is the new aesthetic. War clans is now 3.5 different aesthetics (ardboyz). I’d argue that it would have been much better for Destruction and warclans if GW expanded the small IJ and Bonesplittaz ranges to make each more complete.

I am still not convinced that the various Orruk aesthetics look good when mixed together.

I’ve painted mine in different schemes but with the same accent colours to lend a sense of disorganised unity. They are supposed to be a disordered rabble but I wanted to have something to tie them up together.

Oh man, I've not played AoS since the start of the pandemic and the Dominion box got me keen to start again... But the last few pages of this thread are making me regret it! As if losing Skyborne Slayers wasn't bad enough!🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, while I like the new models, I wasn't keen on Yndastra's feathery wings - it just didn't sit right with all the other winged heroes.

So, 1 issue of mortal realms to the rescue and she has Knight Azyros wings!

What do we think? Good idea? Terrible mistake? I do still have the feathery wings to convert back...

It's interesting to see the patreon account of the creator of "If the Emperor had a text-to-speech device". Look at what he gains per month :

    https://www.patreon.com/alfabusa

That's...quite a lot. It's not a question of "surviving". He's at the stage of leading a small team and still living comfortably.

He sure sounds very nice and all, no problem...but wow...right now, he earns nearly half my annual salary a month...

I'm pretty sure he could pay GW a license if he wanted to as well.

Maybe I too should launch my channel with fan animations talking ****** about GW...it looks like a very profitable business nowadays. :P

Wow - 150k p.a income. Hmm.  Enough to live  well and employ 2-3 others in the UK.

Looking good! Will be interesting to see all the different types of colours people will paint these up with.

I'm guessing these will come in a a box of 2 like the Pusgoyle Blightlords, with the option to make one the hero?

This means I will need x3 boxes …

So I did not see the video until now and the dragons are much smaller than I had initially assumed, does anyone have an idea of their base size or the relative size between these dragons and a Stardrake in relationship to a Vindicator?

I was initially concerned that these were in the scale of Smaug or the Khorne Dragon. Now I am thinking they will be somewhat more in line with the price and scale of other big models.

My guess is similar to a mega gargant

They are clearly smaller and leaner than the current Star drakes, so no they aren't enormous.

For the big boss of their races (Star drakes are only cousin I know), that's ridiculously small...

May be skinnier but I think the wingspan of the model is bigger. And the same base size as a Gargant?

Not what I expected, I was assuming we would get a mounted smaller drake.

That said, I do think they are amazing, and stack up well next to Dragons from other companies, i.e. WizKids and Mantic. In fact, I suspect GW just wanted to make THE dragon kit, something that has been missing from their warhammer line for a long time (although they did ace it with Smaug).

Wonder if generic younger ones will follow, given how the Sepharon are raising an army of them in a pocket dimension .,..

I've always thought a souls like would be perfect, you already have an in universe reason for a stormcast to continue coming back over and over upon death.

Combine it with a nemesis system and it would be amazing

    • We have LotR, with defined aesthetics and a fanbase that's rather set to that specific world. Very little room to write great new stories in the world, but a very strong lore and aesthetic by itself. Because it's GW interpreting Weta designs and Tolkien lore, I view this quite seperately.
    • We have AoS which gives lots of options, but misses grounding and is a bit out there for many people. It's getting a lot better though.
    • We also have a split third group: One one hand, WHFB fans that can't adjust to AoS, and on the other hand Warhammer Total War fans that can't find their factions when they want to go offline with their wargaming.

For these last two groups, TOW provides something AoS will not do.

All three are 'live' IPs anyway, Middle Earth is still hot, and AOS is the 4th biggest mini game out there. Old school fantasy is alive and well in video games and books. Brining back on tabletop meaningfully might incite some AOS players to try it, 40k and ME players to tr it and lapsed players injoying the video games to come back.

There was plenty of room for 30k models in 40k players collections.  I think its about selling more minis tbh.

Thinking more about it...  I have many back burner AoS projects right now.  One of them was to be a Dwarf-based Cities of Sigmar army (with dozens of classic metal models).  I think I might re-prioritize for now, work on other things, and potentially put the Dwarfs on squares some day in the future.  I have years and years of projects piled up already, so it's not big thing to rearrange.

Could you go for square and use these to convert and swap between rules? Maybe magnetise? Or maybe round bases in a square move tray …

  10. Looks like this is a rules refresh initially, then newer resin releases from FW down the line, likely Kislev and Cathay up first. You can bring in models from AOS where they fit (which is still about 50% of it!).

I suspect we will see Resin upgrade spruces for the old imperial plastic kits early on, unless those kits get remade for an AOS / TOW dual release with differing head and weapon options ....

    Sensible moves all around.

  11. I do like the medieval conversions out there, but personally I love the StormCast death mask and find normal knights a bit too close to reality for me for my immortal lightning riding heroes, but I  really love the bonkers side of AOS.  Otherwise they tend to look like generic WOW / Warmachine paladins.

I suspect we will see a new chamber one day with a different take, as with Grey Knights changing armour from standard marines over the years.

Back to rumors, I am hungry for more. Am expecting Stormcast dragon hero and some form of cav and swamp wyvern and possibly wolf riders for cruel boys around the release of the battletomes. My birthday is next month and I'd really like the stormcast charriot, when do we think it will be out for pre-order?

I want to believe this so bad, just because my Brets (and couple squads of Chorfs!) collect dust...but this is Geedubs we talk about, and knowing them I can only ever see them in their eternal wisdom and infallibility try and make bank with TOW - and nothing makes more bank than selling our old Army Books back again separately, hah hah! Admit it guys, we'd all buy those books again if we could.

Unless they release old moulds as made to order this is doubtful as GW never sell just a game system, they make money of figures.

I still wonder if it will be 15mm tbh

anyone heard anything about what's happening with the Soul Wars exclusive models now those boxes are on the way out?

You've got the mounted Lord Arcanum, Knight Incantor, mounted Knight of Shrouds and Guardian of Souls that never got solo releases. Those two nighthaunt models are on the same sprue I think, the mounted Lord Arcanum has a random Evocator on theirs I think.

there aren't Sacrosanct or Nighthaunt Start Collecting boxes so could see those turn up at some point maybe

They did this with the first boxed set so its very possible. I think SC boxes may morph into something like combat patrols though.

They still have the Dead Saurian as the banner:

But then clicking on it, it's no longer available:

Happy I got an order for a few of the monsters earlier this year, including the Dread Saurian and the Troggoth Hag.

Other than Daemons the line is going away.
