Definitely could. Don’t see why they would leave what they already have prepared and not utilise November.
We must be coming around to a ‘hero and a book’ updates for armies like maggotkin, deepkin, Daughters etc.

On the flipside it's also possible that november/december have 40k releases planned instead. For example the new Space Marine codex releases in October and GW have mentioned that the big chapters will be getting new supplement books after that, so those could be released then.
There was also the teaser video shown a little while back that showed off new 40k models for a bunch of factions, so we have more concrete info about upcoming 40k stuff than we do about any eventual AoS releases post Sons of Behemat.

    Hi y'all!

I have been looking at this forum for months but haven't joined. But now I had a question that made me join the community.

In the designer's commentary it says the following:

Q: If a friendly Syar unit that is wholly within 18" of a
friendly Syar Hero uses the ‘Deplete Reserves’ command
ability, is it possible to use both of that unit’s aetherquartz
reserves on the same ability (such as ‘Heightened Senses’) in the
    same phase?
    A: Yes.

If that unit uses 2 quartz on for example heightened senses, does that grant the unit +2 to hit rolls?

Yes, Age of Sigmar does not have a default rule that stops abilities of the same name from stacking, which confused me as well initially. Other games tend to stop you from doing that.

The 40k version sounds pretty appealing, at least the autopassing on 1. Losing only 1 model on a failed battleshock feels like it might make hordes too good in aos though, especially since hordes in aos don't need to worry nearly as much about being shot down before they get where they need to be.

While you’re only guaranteed to lose one model to a failed test in 40k, you still roll to see of each other model then flees (when you fail a morale test one model flees, and you then roll a dice for every remaining model in the unit and for each 1 another model flees).

Given how much inspiration 40k and AoS have taken from each other these last editions I would not be surprised to see something similar come to AoS in the future. We might also see Inspiring presence change to once per game as it just did in 40k.

I'm sure all attacks are resolved at the same time. From the core rules (as shown in the app).

    'ALLOCATING WOUNDS
Once all of a unit's attacks have been resolved, add up the damage that was inflicted. The player commanding the target unit must then allocate a number of wounds to the target equal to the damage that was inflicted.'

So you cannot remove between attacking with multiple weapons by a single unit.

That is exactly what the guy you quoted said, not sure why you quoted and argued with him. 🤣

Anyone know the base size for the cathallar scinari mage?

I’m going to rebase/base my old metal everqueen and use her as one, but obviously the square base has to go ^^

Looks like a 32mm from all the photos. I have an old Wood elf mage who I put on a 32mm to use as a Cathallar as well. :)

  6. Any model in a unit that moves can move UP TO that unit's maximum move. So you do not have to move all the models in a unit the same distance, some can move 5", some can move 4", some can move 2" and some can even stand still (though the entire unit will of course still count as moving as long as at least one model moves).

I’d also like to see what unspoken numbers of people buy their models and play their games but aren’t in the online communities. It seems like it must be a pretty large number.

Just to briefly touch on this; yes, of course it's a pretty large number. Taking active part in an online community is generally something only a small part of any given fanbase does, regardless of whether that is miniature gamers, video gamers, grilling fans, people who cycle for exercise etc. Most people with a hobby or interest generally just go about doing that hobby or interest. Seeking out people online to actively participate in discussions about their interests is not very common.

  8. No, you do not double the wounds inflicted by the Black Fang. Monstrous Mount makes it clear that you only double the wounds inflicted by the Spider Venom rule. So if you roll a 6 to hit you will deal D3 mortal wounds from the Black Fang, and 2 mortal wounds from Spider Venom (1 base and +1 for Monstrous Mount), for a total of D3+2 mortal wounds.

It’s just that in the battle tome there is a designers note stating that it can be used only during the fight phase and not at the beginning of the fight phase.

Ah yes, I understand. "At the beginning of the fight phase" and "at the end of the fight phase" are two specific, separate timings when certain models fight (those with rules saying so). If the Lumineth player has any models with such rules, you cannot use the Lightning reactions rule when these models fight. Similarly, if your enemy has any models that fight at the beginning of the phase then those also fight before your regular dudes like normal.

After any "fight at the beginning of the phase" units have been resolved you then go on to resolve all regular combats, and this is when you as a Lumineth player can pick two units to fight at a time.

  10. 43 minutes ago, ArchaicArc said:

So our rule to pick two units, are we allowed to pick the first unit of a phase and then again, or just second fighting unit and third?

What do you mean? Each time it is your turn to pick one of your units to fight, you can pick another unit to fight as well. So in your opponent's turn your opponent will first pick one of their units to fight, then you will pick two of yours, then opponent picks one of theirs, then you two of yours etc.
If it's your turn you start by picking two of your units to fight, then opponent pick one of theirs, then you pick two of yours etc.

  11. Correct, they can belong to the Great Nations. What they cannot do is be given our vanilla command traits or artefacts, since those are only for Scinari and Alarith heroes, and you cannot give those keywords to the custom hero. But as said, they can belong to a Great Nation and be given that Nation's trait and/or artefact.

  12. The Terradons use their ability after they have finished their move. So at that point (when you have finished moving them and declare the ability), all of the Terradons need to be fully within 12" of the Chief in order for the Chief to use his command ability.

The only other two considerations is buffing bigger units gives more benefit, but the only real buff in reality to give them would be speed.. all our other buffs are actually rebuffs to the enemy in the form of minus to hit etc. and bigger units can take more losses before losing shining company and the wizard status.

Don't forget all the basic command abilities, they all work better on bigger units as well.

There is a good reason to shorten things in Age of Sigmar. Most names have superfluous words, and the name of the game itself refers to too small of a group within the realms.

40K would be more accurately described by "Age of Space Marines", and yet, there'd be an outroar if that name change was suggested. Somehow, the god that stands for two (and arguably only the majority of humans in Cities) factions is the acting word in the name of the game itself.

All of the recent factions have a superfluous word in them. Lumineth, Ossiarch, Cities etc. Similar with the unit names, Gunhauler, Ironclad, Dawnriders, Wardens all have a second word that nobody needs to pinpoint the unit.

He was just making a joke in response to Sleboda's mention of "application" instead of "app". ;)

I'd gladly pay £3.99 a month for access to all those things. I strongly disagree that this is 'utterly excessive'. It's £3.99 - you can't get a beer for that, and just about a coffee, a burger or piece of cake, and you burn through consumption of those things in  5 minutes.

    While you are of course technically correct, I see two issues with that argument;

    1) This app is a beer, Netflix is a pizza, Disney+ is two shots, TV is a burger, PS plus is another beer etc. One subscription in itself is not excessive, but the current trend of moving more and more products and services to subscription payments is both unsettling and in some cases unnecessary (I would argue this is one of those).

    2) While the monthly cost for this might "only" be a beer, you also have to consider what the final (and actual) payment will be. Let's say 9th ed runs for three years like 8th ed did, you are looking at actually paying 144£ for this (4 x 36 months), not just a beer. And if this was the upfront cost I'm betting most people would balk at it and not pay it because it is a lot of money for what is essentially really just army building (remember you still have to buy new codexes separately to unlock their rules in the app so that cost is added on top). Moving this to a subscription method instead is really just a clever way of hiding this cost and having it be easily hand-waved away with your "but it's just a beer" argument.

  16. I was very excited about the 40k app, but when I saw the price and what's included my excitement died right away.
With the AoS app I can look at all the warscrolls, the core rules, and create lineups for a game completely for free, and for a very small fee I can also subscribe to the list builder. For further costs I can add the battletomes if I want.
In contrast it seems that the free part of the 40k app is only going to be the core rules, I did not see any mention about being able to browse datasheets for free. So in order to get any real use out of the app (looking up model rules, building lists etc) you have to pay FOUR times what you pay for the AoS app (that also provides a lot of the 40k app's paid content for free).
Really disappointed to see GW going this way with the 40k app and I really hope they don't do the same with the AoS app in the future.

Again I see your point but I don't think so. If that were the case why update KO? Or Sylvaneth.

At least for Sylvaneth the answer is pretty easy; they didn't have any proper sub-faction rules in their previous battletome. You could run Glade-specific battalions to unlock a semblance of them, but there were no free sub-factions like most modern tomes have. Both DoK and IDK do have these sub-factions though (even if they are not as fleshed out/follow the same mold as later ones) so they are more in line with current AoS and less in need of updates because of that.

  18. Yeah, that's correct. Every battletome includes one or two "mega-battalions" that are basically all the other battalions in the book gathered together. These are always massive lists of 4-5000 points so are unplayable in most regular matched play games. GW includes them for those who play open or narrative games and want to include a big thematic army.

  19. I've recently started the game with Sylvaneth and I greatly enjoy playing them. I love both Drycha and Hunters so seeing discounts to both those is great. I don't really care about tournament play (when I want to compete seriously in a minis game there are plenty of them MUCH better suited for competitive play so I play those instead) so just getting some nudges to help in casual play with friends looks perfect to me!

    Hi guys,

Question about the Lumineth box. I ordered one from Element games last week. it was dispatched on monday. I haven't received yet. I didn't take the tracked option because it was too expensive (I'm in France).
How long did you guys out of the UK or in the Uk had to wait before you received it ? I fear my box might have been stolen by an unscrupulous "La poste" employee.

I got mine direct from GW, it was sent out on a Friday and arrived on the Thursday after. But many times when I've ordered from other English stores like Firestorm or Element the delivery has taken 2-3 weeks, so I wouldn't worry. :)
I'm in Sweden so transport time shouldn't be too different from France.

So... I was re-reading the aetherquartz abilities and it says you add 1 to the save roll (not that it modifies the save itself) so would this work with ethereal?
I know the default answer is no.. you can’t modify the save if you’re ethereal, but the wording has me thinking it’s not doing that?

I’m sure I’m wrong, and it doesn’t work, just want to double check.

Adding or subtracting from the roll is what all modifiers do. You never modify the actual save value on the warscroll, it’s always + or - to the roll. So no, it doesn’t work together with Ethereal.
