Have done this and it’s fine, pretty sure quite a few others have too. Easier to transport too and it makes it an all-round quicker job to build and paint.

Oh yeah, the easier transport is a bonus I didn't think about either. That about settles it and that the way I'll got. If anything thing, I've got a bunch of rickety boards that might be useful for any scratch built terrain. Might spruce up the Goblin Town scenery from the Hobbit.

  2. Has anybody been keeping the scaffolding off the gnaw holes and just filling in the post holes with green stuff? I don't think it looks all that great, not to mention it's obnoxious and fiddly to build, so I'm thinking my gnaw holes will just be gnaw holes with out any additional construction.

  3. So it looks like the Lord Slaanesh on damonic mount is now no longer available on the US store(i.e. not just temporarily out of stock). I suppose it's possible that he's just going to get rebased, but it's an old metal model that really looks outdated. Maybe the previewed Slaanesh releases weren't all they planned.

Assuming Loon Curse is a box set then I would be stunned, stunned I say, if it didn't include at least one new sculpt per side and if I was a betting man then the Loonboss on Cave Squig would be where I'd throw my money. The existing model looks awful compared to the new sculpts and with Squigs being such a key part of Gloomspite and that particular model/unit unlocking extra battle line options it's surely the most obvious choice for a redo.

We'll see though, can't imagine we'll be waiting too long to find out.

Yeah, I find the current model pretty terrible, but then I didn't like it even before it was outdated, that's why I've got the Forgeworld version.

What I think we might see is Darkoath being rolled into Everchosen/Slaves to Darkness

There's no Darkoath to roll into Slaves to Darkness, they ARE Slaves to Darkness. Darkoath is all flavor text right now and it's not even a standalone keyword.

"ALL of the core infantry of the Fyreslayers have been given an additional Wound on their profile!"

Wow! That is a big change indeed.

Hopefully that means they'll be a more elite army, and thus actually affordable to collect. I may actually consider Fyreslayer army depending on how well that comes out.

They precisely said on Facebook it wasn't that.

It's either new spray cans, an airbrush or a whole rehash of the paints range.

Maybe they'll go full Army Painter with their range of colored primer with a much wider range of colors and a little more attention to if they match the corresponding base paints.

  8. So Warscroll cards have already gone to limited time only and they had trouble with getting the Skaven ones out and now unless I'm missing something, it doesn't look like Fyreslayers are getting any at all. Hopefully it was just left off by accident and this isn't warscroll cards going away entirely.

Well the preview showed a squig hopper, so I doubt it has to do with the spiderfang. I don't think it'll be new shaman or foot Loonboss sculpts, we already have a dozen and one ways to get those models. I'd bet a big handful of dosh on the box including a new Loonboss on GCS. No need to change the warscroll and we get an updated sculpt for a model that desperately needed it (and that plenty of people are using for their squig armies).

For me, the box would be an instant buy if it included any Rockguts. Doubt it will though.

I agree that a plastic Loonboss on cave sqiug(along with a retinue of squig riders and maybe other squigs) would be a good way to add new Gloopspite without any new unit per se. Of the Moonclan stuff without a new model it probably sticks out the most.

Would make sense, except Fabius Bile left the Emperors Children behind after the heresy and would remain in Codex:Heretik Astartes  when EC's get their own. Could still be they release him along the other EC's, either as an independent release or with some new lore of him being brought back into the fold, but it's far from certain.

Good point, but he'd still be a good candidate for a near future release for the generic Chaos space marine stuff too.

Wait really? That’s an FEC symbol? Holy moly that sounds awesome, I’d love more new sculpts for FEC. Then what’s the flaming skull supposed to be? Nighthaunt? Also what are the Order symbols? Anyone has any idea what they are, excluding the thunderbolt because obviously that’s Sigmar

Also ghys, I seriously believe that the 2 rumor engine photos, earwig bum bum and the wing that everyone thought was either FEC or vespid wing is gonna be in looncurse, the flying earwig (my worst nightmare...) looks like it will be a familiar attached o a hero, similar to the cute grub guy on the branchwych, so likely a new hero? Maybe a new remade scenery for sylvaneth?

For Gloomspite Gitz, I feel like they will update old models, such as loonboss on/and cave squig, and maybe madcap Shaman; it’s unlikely they’ll add new warscrolls

The way they announced that non-chaos factions would have rules when Warcry is launched, I don't think they'll have new war bands with new models. Instead I think they'll have have rules for existing models, the same way Genestealer cults and Chaos cults get rules in Necromunda where it a neat add on a nice to have, but the real focus is still really on the Chaos war bands.

O.o that is one creepy boi. Feels like either Emperor’s Children or Slaanesh

I'm going to guess a new Fabius Bile and we'll see the Emperor's Children get the same treatment as the Thousand Sons and the Deathguard.

People clearly do want that because otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

Yeah, while I would love new stuff for Ogres and Dwarfs, that doesn't mean I don't like my Stormcast army and don't want new stuff for them. In fact, the new Sacrosanct stuff is what pushed me to finishing that army,

  14. That fire lizard thing is pretty nice, I really wish it was a new unit instead of an endless spell. Maybe at the very least they'll be like the Khorne ones that can't be denied or dispelled and the casting player gets to always control them. Maybe the new book will even include more prayers and stuff for Fyreslayers so both Khorne and Dwarfs will be top tier magic armies.

If the warbands were monoposed I would agree, but from what I have seen it looks like they are multipose. Add that to the other comment (which I am having trouble finding a source at the moment) that this was meant to scratch the Darkoath itch and I stand by my reaction.

The difference with the Underworlds AoS connection is that the Underworlds warbands were mostly character versions of units we have seen before. These Warcry warbands are more of a blank slate, which makes them perfect to be repackaged as unit boxes when an updated Chaos Mortals tome comes out.

The fact that they're not mono posed, is increasing my hope that the rules will have bit of crunch and war band building rules will actually have a cost for equipment. I'm curious how well supported non-chaos stuff will be. It certainly doesn't sound like the non-chaos stuff will be getting their own models. Maybe it'll be like how gene stealer cults and chaos cults got necromunda rules, but instead of waiting on a white dwarf, they'll be release those rules from the start, but the main focus of the game will still be on the chaos "gangs". I'm still getting a mostly "fantasy necormunda" vibe from this, and while I'd rather have Mordheim reborn, I'll still take this over the current "skirmish" garbage we have now.

The endless spell/terrain fiesta is starting to feel like a result of it being easier to manufacture those items. I like endless spells and I’m pretty much over it.

It's because they design and manufacture those as terrain, which is manufactured in China. So it doesn't eat into their model production.

Not to be negative, I'm very happy that KO have theyr underworld warband but I was expecting a more "AoS" oriented band. I see two Arkanauts that we already have, a Skywarden, a Thunderer and a Khemist. Nothing "new" like Sylvaneth band, the troll one or whatever...

Since I'm not really big on Underworlds and the rules for the actual war bands are usually garbage in AoS, I'm actually kind of glad that all of these are all just alternate sculpts for existing models. I really like the khemist and the reloading gatling guy guy is a nice alternate sculpt. Skywarden looks sufficiently different enough too, though not really better(or worse). Though the regular arkanaut and thunderer do look pretty stock.

Super disappointed on Forbidden Power.  We are drowning in endless spells.

I was hoping for campaign books like the Realmgate Wars so we could have a living narrative.

I hoping that they just highlighted the endless spells for a limited preview and there's more to it than that, but I'm not optimistic. Yeah the book will probably have some scenarios, maybe a campaign and maybe a few special rules, but I'm not hopeful there will be much more in there if you're not interested in the endless spells side to make it worth getting. I'd like to be wrong about that though.

On the other hand, Fyreslayers are all bare heads but look like clones too. Perhaps they should meet each other half way

That was  and still is one of my biggest hangups for Fyreslayers. Slayers in WHFB were always some of the most characterful models that GW made, but then Fyreslayers come along as a boring very samey looking army. I get that they were trying to get away from the more cartoonish look of the older stuff, and that's fine, but I feel like they went to far in the opposite direction, and worse the design feels lazy in a lot of places. They're not technically bad models, it just feels like they reused the same model over and over again. And to add insult to injury, they Underworlds war band for Fyreslayers is actually pretty good with some unique character in each model showing that the core design isn't bad and reinforces the feeling that the design of the core army was full of shortcuts.

Seeing how Slaanesh came first, I foresee future Aelves to be a response to Slaanesh. Sort of how the Sacrosanct Stormcast are a response to the actions of Nagash.

I could see that. Tyrion and his elves hiding in Hyish while Malerion and his elves are keep a low profile in Ulgu, but once Slaanesh is back, they've forced to "rejoin" the world to fight Slaanesh.

Most get trailers these days. Nighthaunt/Idoneth/Daughters/Maggotkin/gloomspite got videos like that off the top of my head.

Right, the ones that get some kind of actual release, not just a one and done book+spells+terrain.

Given that the Keeper or Secrets is the last greater daemon that hasn't been updated, that's probably a lock. The Wrath and Rapture models will stand alone releases, and we'll probably see a hero or two at least. We may not see all of this today, but by the end of release. Probably the biggest question mark is if Slaanesh will be getting a decently sized mortal army. That would make it a bigger release. Even bigger if the Emperor's Children come out for 40k, but if they do, I don't think it will be likely(World Eaters didn't come along side the recent Khorn release).

well when they use their Graphics department to make an actual trailer then it usually signify I slightly bigger release then normal

Right, I don't think Beasts of Chaos, Skaven, or Flesheaters got a real "trailer" did they (there was one for Carrion Empire, but it was of models, not pseudo animated)?

Could totally be a aelf release alongside the Slaanesh release.

They're going to preview something that looks like it has to be and Idoneth endless spell, but give no further detail. Then in six months we find out it's a Dark Eldar terrain piece.
