Very happy to see KC confirmed to negate mortals as well. Been running it that way, after a discussion with each opponent, so happy to know I've not been cheating!
I play against Stormcast and their ability to deal out mortal wounds on death (as well as Spirit Flasks!) has just been diminished slightly. Almost tempted to take two KCs...

I am stoked that our Krulghast Cruciator negates mortal wounds. A Reikenor's Condemned list with the Krulghast Cruciator equipped with Midnight Tome (Reaping Scythe) and Guardian of Souls casting Shademist will give some pretty decent durability to our Chainrasp Hordes. Spirit Torment giving full re-rolls is just icing on top!

I've been assigning 3 out of my 10 to be "cohesion buddies." All they do is make sure all hands are being held properly. I'm not too put off by it since my opponent has to do the same. We both view it as, yes 7 out of 10 will attack at a given time, but once you lose 5 suddenly 3 more enter the fray. Kind of like a second wind as the unit dies down.
This gives the distances some play. So if my line needs to wrap around an enemy unit or a large base, I can shift a few millimeters and still have coherency. And, as I take models away, the "buddies" in the back can use their 3" pile in to fill gaps to keep the lines overlapping. Since coherency matters only at the end of a turn as long as the unit exists you will always have that 3" of play, so long as anything you move ends up as close or closer to the enemy unit.
This doesn't apply to Reapers, of course. They stay in two ranks, even while wrapping around a target.
This is incredibly useful, thanks for the insight. My head hurts thinking about coherency now though! Also, very excited to listen to your chat with Sotek and CaptainSoup. Great to have you championing Nighthaunt so well : )

How are people finding getting in attacks with 32mm base size units? I have been playing Dreadscythe Harridans but really struggle to get in all their attacks while maintaining coherency. I know it's theoretically possible to arrange them in 'squashed triangles of three' and get all their hits in but this isn't very practical, takes lots of shuffling/measuring and is not effective when going up against enemy units with low model numbers. Am I missing any simple tricks?

Hi guys,
I bought Soul War Box and Nighthaunts WarCry box. My collection at the moment is
1 Knight of Shrouds on Etheral Steed1 Guardina of Souls with Nightmare lantern
1 Spirit of Torment
1 Lord Executioner
20 Chainrasps (1 Leader)
9 Grimghast Reapers (1 Entoller of Shyish)
9 Graveglade Stalkers (1 drum guy)
4 Murmor Banshees
I am chasing one Grimghast reaper on eBay to make a legal unit. What would you guys recommend to get this list to about 2000-2500 point that will be decent and varied for 1500 points games with friends?
To be honest I would stick with this and get it painted up before adding more models : ) Play some games with your current collection and see which units you like the most in game and then build on that. If you paint slowly like me it may take quite a few months before you have your current ghosts painted up... Perhaps we'll get a sniff of a new battletome by then and you can delay further purchases until you know what's good.
Of course, the best models to grab are the ones you like the look of : ) Rules will change yet your models will be with you for some time!

Well, Nagash won't have much involvement directly. I think Be'lakor and Lady Olynder are sending in a Trojan horse of sorts to the Anvil of Apotheosis. This, combined with the disrupting 'cloud' Be'lakor created, means Sigmar's ability to get those souls back and re-forge them is still going to have difficulties.

Corrupted by Death, not Chaos judging by the last BR Story
I'm hoping for the Ruination Chamber to open. Something to do with the consequences of those corrupted souls at the Anvils of Apotheosis and Sigmar's response.

Speculation time.
SpoilerIn the most recent Broken Realms fiction a Lord Exorcist rescues some Stormcast Eternal souls that have been tormented by a bunch of Nighthaunts (namely the new Krulghast Cruciator). He is surprised the Nighthaunts aren't angered as the souls escape with his Evocator Prime companion:
QuoteThe spectral torturers advance. Zaicon sees his own helm reflected in the sheen of their weapons. There is a grotesque rattling sound. The Lord-Exorcist realises that it must be the wraiths’ cruel laughter, and feels a momentary pang of unease – why are they not enraged by the spirits that have been ripped from their clutches?
I think these tortured souls will have repercussions when they meet the Anvil of Apotheosis. But what!? My speculation is that they will be re-forged, at the least, as lightning ghiests, perhaps with some Shyishan corruption added, and will cause havoc in the Chamber of the Broken World. Perhaps The Anvil will be damaged affecting the success of re-forging, or perhaps it will be destroyed altogether... This could coincide with the disruption Be'Lakor has caused with his 'arcane cloud', perhaps Be'Lakor and Olynder have planned something...
My wildest speculation is that these corrupt souls may be linked to the next chamber release in some form. I think the next chamber to open is the Ruination Chamber, which will make use of ruined/corrupted souls that have been covertly sequestered away by Sigmar as a weapon ever since The Anvil was first created!
Pure speculation, but fun.

Vince summed up absolutely everything I was thinking about this horrible warscroll for Gardus.
Yeah, it was pretty funny. Lord Celestants should be at the very least a force multiplier.

Poor Gardus, this reaction sums him up, so funny.

My Krulghast Cruciator is sitting on top of my fridge, looking at me, shrugging and saying 'I dunno. I just work here.'.

I wish they had given him something entirely different now rather than tacking on a conditional FNP. It's a cool model though so I'll be glad to have one. I'm actually surprised they gave him 6 wounds.
-
I feel they intended for Deathless Spirits to simply work on 5+ rather than 6+. Guess we have to wait for the FAQ though. Damn confusing.

I wasn't aware that the 5+ didn't include mortal wounds, that is a shame.
What?
This made me laugh hard.

I've been using a warband consisting of:
Slasher Crone / Dreadwarden / Dreadscythe Harridan / Chainrasp x 6 (TOTAL: 995).
I've been playing against a Stormcast Eternal Sacrosanct warband comprised of Sequitor Prime with Redemption Cache / Sequitor with Stormsmite Greatmace / Evocator with Grandstave / Castigator x 2 (TOTAL: 1000pts).
Games that involve movement, objectives and treasure have always been won by the Nighthaunt (the majority in my case so far). The only loss was a game that required taking down half or more of the enemy warband. The Nighthaunt in this warband just lack hitting power.
The board I've been playing on also lacks verticality and platforms - with the addition of these I think the Nighthaunt would become much stronger due to gaining toughness with height (thanks to universal flying) and weakening the opposition with Aura of Dread (double for -1 strength on enemy fighter). That combo takes the average Sacrosanct Stormcast down to strength 4 and the Chainrasp up to toughness 5, so nicely 5's and 6's to wound rather than 3's.
The Slasher Crone has been clutch at times for controlling the Stormcast Side which is devastating due to their low model number.. The Slasher Crone and Dreadscythe's main strength is actually just their slight speed over the Chainrasp and the fact that they can do some damage.
Another key to winning with this warband was the key timing of Spectral Summons. I played two games where I had to get models off the board edge. I thought this would be easy, and it was for one game, but the second game was harder due to the Castigators and Sequitor with Stormsmite Greatmace efficiently taking down quite a few Chainrasp. Although this was the case the Dreadwarden scampered over to one corner, skulked under cover, and summoned three Chainrasp back across two rounds (third ability gained by waiting), all of which fled the field ensuring victory.
The Stormcast warband could throw in some Gryph-Hounds and drop the Evocator with Grandstave as that unit underperforms (seemingly at least) and the Gryph-Hounds are great point efficient units. The Nighthaunt could certainly do with a unit or two with hitting power. I suspect I will be adding a Knight of Shrouds (possibly on Ethereal Steed), Spirit Host and perhaps the Extoller of Shyish and a couple of Grimghast Reapers. I'm unsure what the overall 'Take on all comers' List would look like. Perhaps:
Knight of Shrouds / Extoller of Shyish / Spirit Host / Grimghast Reaper x 2 / Chainrasp (TOTAL:995).
This list has some hitting power with enough models with the Soul Marked ability to ensure the Spirit Host can do some damage while it tanks. The leaders can bring back units as required and the single Chainrasp can 'Do his part'. I would like the KoSoES and/or a Dreadscythe Harridan but the points just don't work out.
I do find the Nighthaunt odd in Warcry as in AoS we're a horde army while in Warcry we simply do not have any really cheap chaff units.

I'm just glad we are getting that new hero model. I know it's not much but it is something. We'll get a new tome this summer hopefully. I'm still building/painting my army and also in lockdown which won't lift for another month yet anyway : /

Here's hoping GW behave and release this as a single model not bundled in with some expensive box set.

Winsor and Newton Professional Varnish. It's incredible. I've had a lot of frosting with GW varnish spray (yes, I did shake the can and warm it). I will never buy it again after using the the W&N varnish. I was so impressed with it I even tried it on some frosted models and the spray actually restored most of the vibrancy and contrast of the models. My attention was brought to the W&N spray via the Necron YouTuber IDICBeer.
