  1. @ChaosUndivided While I agree that chosen are slower, they can still get a 6+ ward from multiple sources in the book and especially important can get run and charge and +1 to run and charge from being slaanesh marked. This allows them to be much more mobile then their profile initially suggests. They also can be rallied to bring back models on a 4+ if they are being killed from mortal wounds shooting as long as they do not completely die which is tough to do with just shooting in hosts of the everchosen.

  2. The point of chosen is to be your very consistent hammer that takes buffs extremely well. Knights and varanguard are faster but both rely on the charge to do the most consistent damage. Chosen allow you to do that sort of damage even not on the charge and have reliable mortal wounds in addition to crack even the heaviest armor. While they lack the 5+ against mortals they still have a 3+ save and 15 wounds and are a good rally target in something like hosts of the everchosen.

I think a lot of lists will look like yours, fundamentally 3 different hammers/anvil units and support.

Some thoughts- i think you want some cheap throwaway units. You may need to hold back objectives, have screens or gum things up. I might drop the Lord on foot and the exalted hero and get some marauder horsemen, cultists or furies or something.

The Nurgle warriors seem excellent and near impossible to shift. However they are slow. Would you be happier with more knights? I'm unsure but that's the kind of tradeoff i imagine we make a lot, which 3 big hammers are the best, how much durability (warriors) vs. speed (knights) vs killiness (chosen)

How about some chaos legionnaires? They look cool and are fairly cheap and tough. And they could also be thrown in expert conquerors with the warriors to add some more capturing power.

  4. How does this look as a potential list with the new book? Was going for all the cool looking classic stuff that is getting new sculpts.

    Hosts of the Everchosen
220 Chaos Lord on Karkadrak - General Khorne, Death Dealer, Crown of Command  - Warlord
115 Chaos Lord on Foot, Nurgle - Warlord
120 Chaos Sorcerer, Slaanesh, Daemonic Speed, Arcane Tome - Warlord
100 Exalted Hero of Chaos, Khorne

440 20 Chaos Warriors, Nurgle, Nurgle Banner -Retinue with Lord on foot - warlord
    460 10 Knights, Khorne - Bounty Hunters
480 10 Chosen, Slaanesh, Slaanesh Banner - Bounty Hunters

    40 point Endless spell

    1,975 Points

Chosen are slaanesh marked to allow for run and charge and get the banner so they still get +1 attack on the charge. Chaos Warriors act as an anvil with all the nurgle buffs and then the knights go with the karkadrak and murder things since they can fight in two ranks now. Exalted hero is there mostly to fill out the list since he looks cool and we don't know what he does yet.

Probably too much to ask GW to do everything at once so that realistically why. Got to temper your expectation somehow

What I'm proposing is in line with multiple releases they have done recently. For AOS Soulblight and Gloomspite would be examples while on 40k all the recent xenos releases

Tbh i hpoe next skaven wave is not about Skryre or Pestilens  but Moulder or Eshin.

Why not all of the above. All of the clans have a lot of metal or just super old and ugly kits. I'm hoping for a Soulblight gravelords type release with a bunch of resculpts and only a couple of completely new units.

Quote from gw:”** Forget the Hobby Project Generator, we want to see people starting armies of Skaven in subs this year.“

A small hint towards a skaven revamp maybe?

If a new skaven revamp added skaven subs I would be sold so fast on skaven. I already love stormfiends and the rest of clan skyre I just do not want to deal with either metal kits or 3d printing/converting a bunch of models

  8. Okay consipracy/guess on what the next books after idoneth and fyreslayers will be.

So GW posted this on the community site as a way to randomly decide your next army. Now normally I would ignore this and say it's just typical marketing ****** but 4 out of the 6 armies are the armies that either have gotten battletomes or are in the new box and will almost certainly get a new battletome. This leads me to speculate that the next two books will be the other 2 armies on this chart, namely OBR and KO. These two armies could definitely both use a new books and would not be completely out of the question. What do you guys think?

    From the article:

"The various plagues and contagions have more impact, and the troops are just as hard to put down. Even more so if you bring along their most powerful daemon, the so-called Loci of Fecundity."

I've never heard of the Loci of Fecundity, but they're implying that you can field it in the new tome. Think it's just a new named warscroll variant of an existing model, just new lore, or maybe a new model?

Its probably a new alliegence ability like the locus of diversion for slaanesh that gets empowered by greater daemons.

So I have a question, are we likely to get battalions, path to glory and other 3.0 rules for Lumineth, Soulblight and Hedonites in a campaign supplement, white dwarf or an updated battletome?

Probably a white dwarf. Those are all new battletomes and they seem to be doing newer battletome updates in white dwarf articles.

  11. So destroyed is actually defined in the core rules section 1.3: "A unit is destroyed when the last model in the unit is removed from play."

In any case this clearly requries an FAQ as this is a total mess. I have to agree with PJetski here that there is a contradiction in the rules. RAW models in a unit are not removed until all wounds are allocated to a unit. However, a model that has been slain cannot be allocated more wounds. Once a unit is destroyed it negates all other wounds but as per 1.3 of the core rules quotes above a unit is destroyed when the last model in the unit is removed. Since models cannot be removed until after all wounds have been allocated this means that technically a unit that has been overkilled cannot actually resolve the attack sequence. Clearly this is not intended as it means the game could not end so there is a paradox in the rules.

I struggle to write lists with lots of Brutes period tbh. Their objective play is obviously amazing on paper but its semi worthless atm in this edition. It might be a local meta thing but tables arent swarmed with 1 wound models where I play. People are still hyped about monsters or in general bigger heroes etc. Many armies bring 3x 10 to fulfill battleline and thats it. You dont need Brutes to challenge that.

The output of Brutes is great and better than Pigs, but the damage difference isnt large enough imo that it makes up for the inferior movement. Battle tactics really reinforce that speed is key and its important to get into certain places to complete the tactics instead of just swamping objectives.

I think lists need to have multiple big threats, so I could see 10 Brutes make up one threat if you arent bringing 2x MK, but I really dont value Brutes beyond that compared to filling out with Pigs/+3x 5 Ardboy for battleline.

The value of brutes for me is the rend -2 with the new book. Ironjawz always struggled with high armor saves and with the new edition and save stacking high rend is super important. Having a high damage unit that doesn't evaporate and get deal loads of -2 2 damage attacks is really helpful in the new edition. Brutes are for sure slower but the megaboss being able to issue 3 mighty destroyers at once means that you can move both a unit of brutes, a unit of gore gruntas, and a megaboss in the hero phase for one command point which is amazing.

Hehe it's all good, thanks for the suggestions. I have tons of IJ anyways so I guess he'll be good in BW right? I mean that +1 to hit aura will certainly be useful. Thanks for pointing it out.

It's +1 damage to one ironjawz not +1 to hit. I wouldn't run any ironjawz without playing at least one and if you are playing pure ironjawz I'd play at least 2.

While we're doing lists, this is my plan for a Big Waaagh:

    Megaboss 140
    Skumdrekk 320
    Killaboss on Gnashtoof 170
    Swampcalla 105
    Swampcalla 105

    Gutrippaz x20 360
    Brutes x5 160
    Brutes x5 160

    Boltboyz x6 240
    Boltboyz x6 240

2k points on the nose. Killaboss would be general with Arcane Tome and probably Egomaniak. Amulet of Destiny from battalion on the Megaboss.

If you are taking ironjawz you are going to want at least one warchanter to buff the brutes and get the 2 big waagh points. I'd take one instead of the megaboss personally

On that note does anybody remember which article said august? I want to know if they edited it out. I think it was the Dominion Celebtration but nothing on August in there

Here at the bottom of the article. "As luck would have it, the new book is up for pre-order later this month, so keep an eye on Warhammer Community for further grimy glimpses – and to discover that all-important release date."

  16. I know a lot of people are down on the vanari banner blade but I actually think he has some potential as being the hero that you stash inside the shrine luminor. Since he is a totem he can use the free command point on a range of 18" rather than 12" and you can still use his once per game ability in a big radius later in the game since he will be measuring from the shrine not his model. He also is a cheap hero that you don't mind stashing in the shrine unlike something like the cathallar that wants to be more forward to ensure that she can hit the enemy with her spells and absorb battleshock for your wardens.

  17. A Kastelai soulblight list with blood knights and direwolves looks to be competitive and would be all calvary. Idoneth is the classic full calvary army with eels and sharks. Beastclaw acts as a monstrous calvary army and may or may not be what you are looking for. Ironjawz double mawkrusha and gore gruntas with warchanter support also is good but with a new book coming out it is hard to tell what might change.

Has Radukar the Wolf's scroll been discussed in this chat? They warscroll im looking at says, "friendly" and doesn't require the SBGL keyword for either ability.

Not that it's good, but he could be healing and buffing any Summonable Nighthaunt unit. Kind of funny.

I think you are looking at the old warscroll. The current warscroll specifies friendly soulblight gravelords units.
