I’m a bit concerned we’ve had no Lumineth silhouettes for the run up yet. :/ Anticipating they will be the stars of the show

Same here :/ but I guess they already showed the silhouettes so they can't really tease them again :)

I disagree. I think Malerion is half dragon/demon/beast and the description fits well. I would not describe a vampire as a "winged monstrosity" and i dont think that getting skaven to assassinate sigmar (seemingly) would be something they would do, at all.

I'm completely torn... As I read, I thought of Malerion (but not wanting to assassinate Sigmar I was thinking maybe destroying the forge or a key structure in azyr to prevent the Stormcasts from being reforged) but as I read your comments, vampires seems also likely to help introduce the soulblights narratively because why would malerion work with skavens, don't he has his own assassins ?...

Also killing the eternal being a reference to Nagash also makes sense !!

Arrrrg what a great story with interesting possible consequences !

  3. Hi guys, I'm really interested by the lore of the new dok battletome but can't afford to buy it right now ( I have to save for the next lumineth release) anyone would be kind enough to summarize the new lore ? (Or point me toward an article that does ?)

I heard there was a battle between stormcast and idoneth, what happened !! :)

It is my firm belief that the only reason the Syar uber-troll ability has not been changed is because not many people use it.  There are so many armies against which that ability is just insane.  Sons, Beastclaw, FEC,  Hedonites (pre mortals), etc (any army that has multiple hero monsters).  It almost makes Sons unplayable in a 1k format as people have alluded to above.

Now, I am totally ok with it, but think its probably not crazy to imagine a day when that changes from not being able to attack to a -2 to hit all other targets type deal.

I agree it was quite frustrating for my opponent but it really was his mistake to charge the unit in front of my syar general with his mega gargant, if he had charged it with 3 man eaters (any non hero unit) or if he had focus fired it with his rocks to kill him with shooting attack he would have been fine so while it's indeniably VERY strong there are definitely some ways to work around it so it is not that over powered  ?

I agree it obviously compells the opponent to take this trait into account and find a way to work-around it so I quite like the fact that it impacts your opponent strategy and he has to adapt :)

The situation is as follows: the enemy has a Stomper tribe and exactly two units. Warstomper and three Mancrusher models in one unit. Sentinels can, if not kill the Mancrusher model, then at least severely injure it. I use the Wardens exclusively as defensive squads.

Eltharion is very good as a solo killer and easily takes out the Mancrusher model alone. And I keep the big gargante with the Cathallar. Not very reliable, but very painful for the enemy.

I doubt the use of Syar due to the fact that the general is Cathallar. I don't want to expose her to a possible blow. Zaitrek looks more reliable in this regard.

The combo allows you tu put the syar general behind a unit of wardens for example and at the combat phase to designate an enemy hero 6 inches from the general and he can only attack this general. So if the mega gargant is engaged in combat with the wardens and the cathallar is 6 inches from him behind the wardens he can't hit the wardens and can't hit the cathallar so you basically nullified 500 points of his army without putting the cathallar at risk since she is too far from the mega gargant to be hit by him and he cant hit the wardens either :)

concerning the zaitrec nation, I like the idea but the way I see it it gives you only a +1 to cast.. which will only be useful in case you roll a 5 when you need a 6 for example... If you need a 6 and you roll better then the zaitrec bonus is useless.

with Siar and an extra aetherquartzwhen you do need to make that 5 into a 6 you can just use an aetherquartz to improve the roll or reroll the dices... And If you never need it you can use the aetherquartz for a +1 save or else which is super useful

Hi everyone. I'm a new player for the LRL. Please tell me, is this a good roaster against the Sons of Behemath on 1000 pts?

    Great Nation: Zaitrec

    Scinari Cathallar
    The Light of Eltharion

    10 x Vanari Auralan Wardens
    20 x Vanari Auralan Sentinels
    10 x Vanari Auralan Wardens
    10 x Vanari Auralan Wardens

Hey ! Welcome fellow disciple of teclis and tyrion tyrion :)

As I've fought them last week my experience tells me to go Siar for the double aetherquartz and the arrogance trait that prevents an enemy hero hitting anyone other than the general (it was incredible to nullify his mega gargant)

I wouldn't go hard on sentinels as they don't have the dps to one shot 35+ sounds :/ a pack of 20 wardens with speed of hishe and power of hishe can surprisingly dish out more pain than 20 sentinels while being cheaper, tanking better and taking objectives  :)

you can also try to stack the maluses to hit with the shining company + geminids of ulgish for example letting his gargants hit you only on 5 or 6s

You can also play with the bravery bomb mecanic with the stonemage vertigo spell and the cathallar signature spell to try to prevent him from moving, charging or fighting

Finally 5 dawnriders allowed me to steal the objectives and to tangle one of its units for 1 turn but I don't know if it's a good investment for a 1000 points list

I didn't play eltharion as I find him quite fragile (but he is so cool) I would be very interested to have your feedback on how well he fares in your battle !

That was statistically extremely unlucky to happen even with the bonus for 20+ units

has he failed all the stomping charge rolls? (When they charge it is mandatory to roll for D3 damage so if he managed to kill 1 of your models he would have lost the bonus for 20+ models)

Yes I rolled 3 5+ fnp.... XD but he would have cleaned my unit even with only a +1 to damage for hitting a unit with 10+ models :)

Well Teclis is not a beatstick he isnt archaon. He is a utility value monster.

I dobt think you should be playing any other behemots uf you decide to bring him to the table sadly.

You say that the big cow did his job but lumineth spearsnwith Ethereal Blessing and so on would have traded with the mancrushers in a better more point efficient way.

Well... The utility isn't quite there.. the way I see it, Teclis can choose 4 abilities from a list of 12 that every other wizzard in your army can attempt to use + that the other player can nullify on a high dispell roll.. Katakros has 3 abilities that work all the time and are really  incredible as a force multiplier :/

3 man crushers had just charged one of my 20 wardens unit with ethereal and 5+ fnp and wiped them (thx to +2 damages against unit of 20+) so teclis had to intervene and did pretty much what I expected of him.... Which was already very low considering he is a 660 model with no real buff to give, no real tankiness and no damage imput :/

so yeah wardens are amazing but war cows can tank and dish out the pain in my opinion :)

You need more bodies for teclis. It is simply just a control turtle build

if you look at top performing TTS builds often time you see a lot of spears supported by archers and allying 1-2 allopexes with rotarius launchers. (His FNP and 4+ spell deny works on them too!)

so you plan on going 5 turns protecting your flanks with spears supported with archers and teclis will keep churning out value.

Thank you for your response !

Teclis didnt die before turn 4 I think, I played conservatively with him to avoid him getting charged but even with the whole army list designed around him.. I don't see his value for 660 points compared to a Katakros for example :/

He feels nice to play but his only real value is 4 spells that can be cast without him so the opportunity cost of bringing him seems too high as he doesn't control objective well either.. :/

I hope that they reduce the cost of teclis a little or that Tyrion will be able to deliver more buffs and be a decent combatant even if he is blind :)

  10. Hey guys, I just played my first game of lumineth against the sons of Behemats and was just wondering what do you think about Teclis ?

I played him with this list :

    Teclis

    Avalenor

    Alarith stone mage

    Scinari cathallar

    2X 20 wardens

    5 dawnriders

Hishian twinstones and umbrall spell portal

I put my Avalenor ethereal with a mystic shield to have a 3+ reroll 1 save and tank his mega gargant while also returning some blows and Avalenor did just what I needed him to do, he was awesome ❤️

The wardens were used as screens, they did their fair share

The cathallar with the umbrall spell portal (and thanks to some really good rolls) allowed me to make his gargants fall into depression preventing them to move or charge or shoot which was also very useful.

But for the 660 points of teclis.. I didn't really see it's value as I could have put almost 2 more war cows instead which would have had much more impact ! He was really polyvalent but with the twinstones you don't really need him to cast spells.. and with only 16 wounds in 4+ without any defensive buff (set aside the 5+ FNP) I really think he is too fragile. Offensively he couldn't clean 1 man crusher when I needed him to... And with regards to buffs when I compare him to Katakros he really doesn't bring the same value to the army for 160 points more... No + 1 to hit no +1 save no more CPs, no preventing the other to have CPs except with a spell that another caster can cast with the twinstones, it's kinda disappointing.. :/ I feel he may be overpriced ? what do you think ?

    Did I miss something ?

The latter idea would lead to people killing tornadoes with shooting attacks though, which is an absurdity

If the above image of the swirly cloud behind the cowasaurus rider hero is indeed the wind spirit, it would appear to be a single tall model, probably of the same scale overall as an Aralith spirit. Also, the wind spirit is supposed to be a 4-armed ranged hero wielding two bows, as per the excerpt from the battletome, so it would make sense that it would be a smaller model with a big wind swirl.

I'd love a redeployment option though, Lumineth have lots of tools at their disposal but actually moving up the field and challenging objectives is their primary weakness. I'd prefer it remain that way, because every faction needs a weakness to be comeplling to play, but it would be nice to have it as an option on a single model.

I don't recall that there is a mention about 2 bows or 4 arms in the battletome ! (But I have a french translation) could you point out to me where it is said it has 4 arms ??

  12. I started AoS with 1250 points of Golden boys but felt they were quite weak and not that interesting to play (at least currently, I am still waiting impatiently the next BT ! )

Then I had a huge crush on Katakros and his ossiarchs so I built a 2000 point army buying 1 kit of each. I am still in love with the ossiarchs as their slow relentless legion dynamic is awesome looking on the table  but as I reached 2000 points I was searching to begin a new army and Lumineth came.

At first I fell in love with the wardens pikemen that reminded me the mortek guards and looked so damn cool! But I was really not so thrilled by the very bland and uninspired archers and cavalry :/ But then I saw eltharion that is one of the coolest mini I own and the war cows... I was surprised at first by the cows but they grew on me and now that I've painted one alarith spirit it is one of my favourite models ! It is really the elemental aspects (and the interesting gameplay associated with it ) that make the Lumineth interesting for me.

So as I'm still collecting and playing lumineth I'm very pleased with the cow part and super duper excited by the wind part coming in, the cloud riders and the camel cavalry looks like they are going to be incredible ! Especially if they also include the fox archer spirit ! I just wish they would give a bit more synergies between the different temples and find a way to play Tyrion and Teclis together.

With regards to the lore I find it very interesting and I am very pleased to see it getting developed more and more !

Sorry for the long post but I thought I would be good to show some positivity ❤️

Probably worth noting that in Underworlds the archer has a unique rule which lets you move your opponents models one tile in any direction if you hit them with the bow, which of course would be difficult to reasonably translate into AoS and may just be for Underworlds, but could suggest some sort of debuff, I suppose.

I imagine something like a slaughter priest spell or should I say "prayer"... forcing you to move toward the closest enemy unit. The slaughter priest forces you to move d6 inches but maybe It will me more akin to the tectonic ability of the lumineths alarith forcing you to move 2 inches.

Something similar is also seen with the orcs allowing them to move 2 or 3 inches when hit from afar so forcing the opponent to move toward or from you is not unheard of :)

If you include 1 Moral Wound on average for Avalenor, the damage in most cases seems to be almost the same, and higher for Avalenor on low saves (no surprise). If that page shows it correctly that is : ).

    1840089784_ScreenShot2020-12-02at10_41_20.png.c794f65c2b28b616f0489fcee8e44d67.png

If they get attached, there is a larger difference, but still it's within a similar level if you include 1 MW on average.

So, if you don't fight armies with high saves (2 and 3), there won't be much of a difference in damage, but there is a difference in terms of the other abilities between the two. That's why most people will take Avalenor over the Spirit, because often the 20 points aren't often making a difference anyway.

But if you like the Spirit more, and think the pure damage output on high saves is worth it, that's fine. The 3 reach could also be useful in some cases. And the Spirit can use all the abilities of the other factions (well, mostly Syar). I prefer the model of the Spirit, so I'll try to include one in my list, once I'm working on my Alarith side.

Woah thank you for doing the maths and your elaborated response ! I didn't factored in the 3 inch range but yes you are absolutely right I forgot about that ! I agree with you that the -1 to hit bubble of Avalenor is really incredible and this is why I will probably have to play him in more competitive match-ups.

However I think that when you have flat 5 damages the maths don't really show the difference between 1 missed hit and 0 missed hit. Every 1 or 2 that you roll or every save made  by the opponent is 5 damage lost. So the discrepancy might seem very close mathematically but when you actually roll the dices, in one case you can have 15 damages vs 4+ save which is enough to kill the target vs only 10 for Avalenor  which leaves the target alive.

So the difference in reality is not really 1 or 2 damages but often 5 sometimes 10 if you roll poorly in my opinion :/

  15. Hi everyone,

I am the only one preferring the alarith spirit of the mountain for damage instead of avalenor ? Yes avalenor buffs are better but wounding on 3s and only -1 rend is really not that great :/ I often end up dealing more damage with the regular spirit instead of Avalenor.

Usually there are less hits but more wounds and the -2 rend garanties that there is usually no more than a 6+ save left so I end up doing more damage.
