  1. He doesn't seem anything to get excited about.

Cant be buffed by anything, does nothing for the armies he is in unless you honestly count +1 bravery aura. Which obviously means you are close enough to damage your own units with his shout.

Slow, no access to any shenanigans, huge base

Basically needs to be able to charge but will be easily blocked by chaff

Average survivability and wounds, no FNP

    counts as 1 model

I mean he hits hard but so does a bunch of other stuff that is more mobile and can be buffed... he would need to have a very low point cost to even be considered.

First guess is the Mathhammer is roll # of d6 of unmodified Charge Roll (max 12) against up to 3 enemy units w/in X inches of the model and on X+ do MWs.

That would still be potentially devastating but less game breaking than the headline?

What I want to know most is still points.

The headline is just "we need to sell this model" trash and probably describes some theoretically perfect but practically impossible scenario. Are we likely to get a leak of the rules and points before the pre-order?

Yeah it's not a ballanced faction.. to a degree goblins have never been a ballanced faction, they've always been more of a random 'fun' army. This has made them consistently difficult for game designer to ballance as the core of the factions playstyle is gambling risk reward choices. Back in the day you could release fanatics and they might utterly destroy an opposed unit, or just smash through your own lines.

They definitely do need updates, I just think they're updates should work to improve the playability of the faction without killing the playstyle of the faction. Low leadership has always been a key feature, so has the ability to stack out ridiculous but often  self harming amounts of damage.

I'd like more upgrades where say the unit eats shrooms and gets a huge combat buff, but take mortal wounds at the end of turn as they overdose. Or reincarnation of the doom diver where they use their own troops as ammunition.

I think the balance problem at the moment is that there is no reward for all the risk/unpredictable stuff. If you roll hot, then your army functions ok. There is no big payoff for the random, it's just a built in weakness, which is honestly bad rule design described as "fun" to excuse it. Swingy randomness does not really equate to fun in my book. Kragnos wont solve their problems but I hope he is more interesting than literally just a bunch of wounds with a good weapon. Like I said before, a plus 1 bravery aura is really really boring even if AoS 3 somehow makes it more useful.

    Gitz SHOULD struggle with leadership.

They need to be buffed in other areas rather than making an entire phase of the game largely redundant.

yeah I agree their leadership should be bad. It's just the rest of their stuff is also pretty bad... so where's the balance?

All they have to do in AoS 3 is change the universal command traits. Without access to battle shock immunity for a single CP across every army, it's actually a relevant phase of the game.

It would have to be some pretty excellent changes. Gitz/squigs would be in even more trouble than they already are without access to some sort of battleshock immunity.

I'm not going to complain about +1 bravery in 12" of something with such a large base. My Ironjawz will benefit from that. Especially as it's a single snippet and we haven't seen any other rules or indeed if the rumored AoS 3.0 changes morale rules or the way bravery works.

If a unit needs saving that badly, you have already spent the CP plus this does nothing for gits/squigs anyway...

Can you really feel excited that the destruction demigod has a +1 bravery rule... can we just have slightly higher standards.... I'm not sure what changes you are expecting that will make +1 bravery excellent.

I'm sure there will be other rules like you say.

  7. Really need to see more rules and points costs.... so far we can’t tell whether he will be any good.

Leading with a +1 bravery aura is about the least reassuring thing possible as far as rules go and is frankly a terrible rule. That could be the extent of the cross-faction support he provides.

I imagine if the rest of destruction is anything to go by that he will be over-costed as well.

  8. I got the impression that orruks were pretty consistently good and destructions top option. They often seem to place highly.

Ogors seemed quite sturdy when they first released and got a few results. Not sure what changed for Them.

I play gitz and they are pretty consistently poor and have been so most of T he edition. Even worse after endless spells were limited. The new white dwarf stuff was pretty mediocre and doesn’t address any of the issues. Just pushes you hard into narrow sub factions for a sort of side grade. Book needs a re-write but unfortunately it look like that will be another early new 3.0 release which is normally terrible for power-level.

Sons may be ok but seem very narrow in playstyle and I expect not very competitive (once they are worked out by opponents with more tournaments) but great in casual.

  9. Sons of behemat need more options/sculpts/units... just anything really... this was the worst faction release ever in my opinion and maybe AoS 3 can fix it.

Iron jaws also need a few more options in their model range.

Another destruction faction with a range and design support similar to LRL.

destruction needs more effort from GW basically.

Hey, I saw this army lot on fb, do you think I can build a 2k pts competitive list with it ?

    Thanks !

-80 grots (60 stabbas with polearm, 20 with swords)

    -3 mangler squigs

    -2 squig gobba

    -25 Boingrots

    -24 Squig Herds

    -Skargrott

    -2 Fungoids

    -Loonboss

    -Loonboss on giant cave squig

    -6 sneaky snufflers

That’s not a bad haul. You could

defo run a decent squig list but my knowledge runs out pretty quick after that in terms of bringing in non-squig stuff.

Please be careful with the base size change of the Mork's Mighty Mushroom in the last FaQs.

The 65mm base is the 60mm base, for GW both are the same. So, the base included in the box is the correct base, you don't need to change anything.

I was wondering what we were supposed to do about finding another one. Shame that was our only change in the FAQ 😆

Well they just release a DOK battletome just now,  not sure what your bone in this fight anyway, if you can’t enjoy playing gitz and Just complain in the forum all the time get you no where. Get a better army then.

Don't get too upset buddy, there isn't a fight but i've put a lot of money into my army (my bone) and I don't feel like feeding games workshop money (for another army) as a reward because they can only buff things every 2 years. Sure we will get a boost soon but I was being realistic about the timescales. Who knows, the FAQ may even bring some good stuff in the meantime!

Edit: plus we have had the best BR story by a mile!

    you mean underworld?

i hope either a BR book or a new battletomes come out soon for Gitz really

The battletome is an age away hence all the well meaning but not very helpful  white-dwarf articles. BR is also probably a good 5-6 months away as they only just announced Teclis (if the next BR is even destruction related but the few stories may be a positive indicator).

  14. it was more poor bravery + low survivability + not the numbers needed. Thats too many things working against you with no positive to make up for it.

I wouldn't recommend changing the bravery stat, but there just needs to be a better compensation than spending all your CP to make your army not run and still being low in numbers and easy to kill (especially our characters)

  15. I guess Jaws of Mork tries do undo a bit of the "fun" mechanics (read poor design) of squig movement but it still taxes you with a terrible artifact and command trait.

The army needs a bunch of the "not fun" mechanics made less random, without having to use a battalion to fix it.

The allegiance ability needs to be re-done  but at least the loonshrine can now work a bit better.

They need to rethink either the stats or costs of some of our units as you get too few, with terrible bravery and/or survivability

They need to make list-building better by not connecting all the bonuses to the keyword bingo. There should be in-between bonuses for mixing subfactions or battalions that incorporate these sorts of ideas.

These battalions are superficial paint-jobs for an army that has been non-competitive (if that matters to you) and hard to play for the majority of it's existence. There isn't even a strong build - just some average results with endless spells (pre-nerf) and mega-grot spam.

  16. There were very few armies performing worse than gitz.

They have been due some attention for ages, it just depends on whether we get meaningful changes before the next edition... which is highly doubtful with all these tomb celestials (as cool as they are).

I can see that. I was really hoping for this before broken realms but Spider riders need a warscroll rewrite not just a halfway go battalion

I think you will have to just settle for all these essentially band-aid battalions where they attempt to implement “fixes” to cover the battletome’s design and power level issues.

The loonshrine should have worked for everything from the beginning. There should have been some decent battalions from the beginning.

Fingers crossed they have some meaningful changes planned in the long run that actually buff the army rather than fixing.

There's still moonclan left, although I was kind of hoping another clan would've got a chance in the spotlight.

I just hope we don't miss out on some warscroll rewrites.

I wouldn’t be surprised if GW did consider the white dwarf stuff as Gloomspite’s “new rules” for broken realms (as the event has started).

But knowing they will desperately want you to buy a broken realm book, I can guarantee there will be some token rule included in what looks like a more Orruk themed story.

  19. Well yes, the intention is to sell models they haven't sold enough of. GW is about making money and that’s fine.

If they wanted focus - same subfaction and if they wanted a taster set then more variety (those duplicate units could be fellwaters or Squig herd)

It’s relatively better than an awful box set last year... but it would be nice if we set the benchmark a bit higher.
