I don’t think using Blackstone Fortress as an example works, because as of yet nothing in that game has been properly integrated into any of the factions, whereas Cursed City were always intended to be in the Soulblight Gravelords release. The fact anything is or isn’t easy-to-build in Soulblight Gravelords doesn’t mean it was or wasn’t supposed to be an expansion.

some of the expansions could have also been intended as White Dwarf articles that included cards for using the models, we just don’t know. **spoiler** As I said earlier, I suspect the contents of the mysterious envelope is rules for Rudakar The Beast, so some of the expansions could have just been stuff like that

I can confirm the envelope contains nothing of the sort.  Won't spoil it here but it's not rules for Radukar the Beast

The point of any expansions would be to sell them to people who brought the box game so you want consistency of product type.

As another possibility there may not have been any expansions for cursed city.  Could be that the expansions to blackstone didn't sell well for the game (or sold primarily to 40K fans as a few of them were added to the Chaos armies), and signals got crossed in advertising the game.

  2. Guys, its fun to speculate but none of the Vyrkos Soulblight models are cancelled cursed city expansions.  I can't say about the Vampire Hunter pair because I haven't seen the sprues yet, but none of the new ones (Radukar the Beast, Belladamma, Krytza and Annika).  They are all normal to build models and were always intended as part of the Soulblight Gravelords release.

The reason I know is that all the expansions for Blackstone Fortress (and I do mean all) are push-fit models just like the ones in the main box.  The Zoat, traitor guard, traitor commisar and ogryn, even the ETB death guard they did as a cash in one.  All of the expansions were push-fit.  If any of the models in the Soulblight range were originally intended as expansions to Cursed City they would have been push-fit as well.

Not saying that there are not canceled expansions but these models aren't it.

The look of it is actually pretty similar to Ad-Mech stuff, beside the sails.

Very similar to the Ad-Mech.  From the repeated cog pattern to the mix of high tech and low.  The big tell is the tiny spikes, which are just like those that are on Dragoon's feet.

It's the only surprising/confusing thing on the list.

It's both equally a shock if GW chooses to double the content of the boxed sets just as it would be if they chose to raise the prices.

Right now the warbands are priced pretty sensibly, or at least in line with everything else. A big $15 price rise would be worrying as that would suggest GW was ready to push everything up and thus far all indications are that Warcy is selling really well. At the same time if GW chooses to double the content that's a huge boon.

It's just impossible for us to tell.

What if it's a repackage but they duplicate only some sprues?

The Iron Golems for example have the Dominar and Drillmaster on one sprue, the Ogor Breacher and Armator on another with the Prefector/Signifier split between them.  But, the three Iron Legionaries are all on their own sprue.  What if we get an additional of that last one making the box:

Dominar, Drillmaster, Prefector/Sgnifier, Breacher, Armator and 6 Legionaries?

I would have wanted this to have a more Egyptian aesthetic, and I hate their noses and stupid grin, but the Mortarch is a very good model, so there's that. And the paint job can do a lot to change the feel of these guys. For instance, the first thing I'd do is change the obsidian to verdigris. I know the obsidian purplish is a complimentary of bone, but I'm having a hard time imagining what kind of material is that.

Bone andthe washed green-blue of the verdigris can look great, and we already know bone and bronze go well together, it contrasts in intensity with the paleness of the bone, and along with an accent color like burgundy, turquoise or regal blue, it can look neat. Like so:

    New Ossiarch.bmp 537.42 kB · 4 downloads

If you swap the heads with Tomb Guard, it can look neat.

I really like this recolor.  I think that the best part of them is that since they are "constructed" out of bone rather than being skeletons it removes the expectation that their bodies should be painted "like bones".  Undead armies have always had an issue looking similar since the major aesthetic and color scheme is "bones all the way down" .

Vampire Counts got away from this by including Vampires, spirits, undead wolves and bats.

Tomb Kings got away from this by including a bunch of constructed and going heavy in on the Egyptian decoration (mummies, masks, armor, big shields, things made of "not bone".

This new army gets away from the bone problem indirectly.  Their non-bone bones can be painted in other colors to simulate other materials fairly easily.  You could do grey stone, red stone, obsidian, marble, jade, terracotta, or even metal.  The possibilities are really astounding.

IF I collect them, I've already got my idea: Terracotta "Bones" and Jade armor. :D

  6. There's so much here and I'm sure it has to do with a big consolidation of the range for free cities, it is a lot of the oldest units going (glade guard are circa 2007 I think?), as well as a lot of specific heroes and old mounted/unmounted kits.  Thunderers/Quarellers and the Canons are old models as well.

Either way the older models are out and I'm curious to see tomorrow's announcement brings for Free Cities.  Can't imagine they put this much stuff up and say nothing.

In the core book, this two things are not mentioned as light aelf and shadow aelf. but as "Some of those born to the Realm of Light were luminous beings, angelic creatures of pure reason.  Those given new life in Ulgu were majestic and terrible all at once." Is it enough for a proof that those two new aelf does exist?

  8. Shockingly there was no thread for everyone's favorite madmen.  So, this is now the official thread for the light of the Bad Moon to shine bright!

So here's what we know so far:

    Gloomspite  Gitz  Leaders

    - Boingrot Boss

    - Squig Hopper Boss

    - Moonclan Boss

    Gloomspite Gitz Fighters

    - Boingrot Bounder

    - Squig Hopper

    - Cave Squig

    - Squig Herder

    - Stabba with Pokin' Spear

    - Stabba with Barbed Net

    - Shoota

    - Stabba

So while we have a great variety of fighters, the only one we know anything about is the Squig Hopper (from the card previews).  These have a solid attack, higher wounds, high movement and access to different types of tactics, but are priced like cavalry at a few hundred points.  Still they give us an idea what the rest of the warband will be: expensive but fast (and extra bouncy) squig riders, cheaper stabba/shootas, slighly tougher squigs, and mighty (yet cowardly) leaders.

Post more as we hear it and I'll do my best to fill out this section into a kind of guide.

    Happy Bouncing everyone!

For those thinking warcry units were going to lead into a slaves battletome, have you seen how poor the untamed beasts warscroll for example looks?  That one is even worse than Underworlds warscrolls.

Only 1 fighter out of all of them gets the single ranged attack, and the rest of them have only 1 poor attack...

It's almost like they are regular humans with minimal armor and bones for weapons or some such thing...

Yeah have to say now we've got a lot more info but a couple of weeks still to go there's one big question left that's got me all excited.

Will 'the internet' blame GW for ruining Warcry with a long & sustained roll out of entirely optional new rules packs and 'money grabbing' expansions... or for ruining Warcry by releasing too much at once and so not showing enough 'long term' support by releasing new stuff every other month?

    Choose your own miserable adventure!

I've been in this hobby over 20 years.  It wouldn't be Warhammer without complaining, doom-saying, or accusations of money grabs.

Maybe it's just me but they don't really strike me as a particularly 'fast' warband. Or am I overlooking the abilities perhaps?

The smaller guys along with the beast speaker and leader-bean are SPD 5.  It's the first fang and the 2H weapon guys that are SPD 4.  If the First Fang's harpoon ability is anything to go off of, then their native abilities have some movement shenanigans too.

Where did you see about the untamed beasts please. I followed the leaks at imgur but didn't see anything about them there (just how to play)

All the way at the back.  It's a photo of the cards along with the Iron Golems.

I'm almost certain we'll see more than Warcry in the previews - there's Shadspire and new Battletomes to come I'm almost certain! If GW manages to have not a single new battletome though that will be quite a shocker! Though they might do one of their "silhouette videos" where they hint at a new tome but don't say who it is for.

Also the new article on teh GW site shows that they are also putting terrain setup designs into the game! A great thing to ensure that early games get setup with good levels of creative terrain and, once people have used them a few times and expanded their terrain collection, they can buidl right off those designs and theories. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/07/17/warcry-3-ways-to-playgw-homepage-post-1/

Wait...isn‘t every Model allowed to take 2 actions per activation?

so attacking twice is still there, when in range

Seems so.  The Universal Quad ability is you can Move then attack when using it, so it's like a separate activation of only those specific actions)
