  1. I could be getting this completely wrong, but a few months ago I recall there being murmurs of something huge being announced in the AoS world with re: to Forge World, I believe they stripped the site of a bunch of older sculpts?

When was the last time we saw an AoS release in Forge World? The SC heads?

What would you like to see? I think something for each grand alliance would be cool.

now THATS a fleet lol. You're gonna be able to make some real fun lists!

I think your first list has a nice amount of bodies, 2 unbinds, and some aerial/ ground support.I think its worth testing out for sure.  I personally would drop 1 of the navigators for a unit of 6 riggers. Personally im also not a fan of wardens, and i think theirs better sky ports.  Zilfin takes frigates as battleline, you could build something real fun with all yours. Also, i would invest in a battalion, we have 3 really solid choices that are pretty easy to build into.  Escort wing is my favorite.

Yeah i'm really eager to get some crazy fleet lists together as there's a good few ships in there!

Like you said I think it's worth testing, funnily enough your suggestion of removing one of the navs and making one of the riggers into a block of 6 is exactly how the list looked before I submitted - however my plan was to have the frigates supported equally, I don't really want one frigate to be "better" than the other once they're split.

Yeah with re: Skywardens i'm not entirely sold on them, riggers are "better" but I view them (potentially incorrectly) as 'support' units - and wanted something a bit more standalone.

I've already threw together a BUNCH of lists but none that i've felt this happy with. Will definitely be posting here in future before/after some matches for advice! Right so onto battalions, i've always felt that the majority of them across literally every single faction are (IN MOST CASES) point/unit traps, and only worth taking for the CP/artefact/drop count - and I feel this is even more true for KO. Every time i've tried to include one for KO, I take what's needed and am left with a the impossible task of trying to shoehorn in the units I actually WANT to use. I'm certainly going to test each one and i'm sure there'll be at least one that's worthwhile (except Ark company one, I don't have any..) but for now i'm not exactly sold!

Managed to pick up a large lot of KO, over the course of the next few weeks will be posting a few lists here in the hopes that they're critiqued, any responses are greatly appreciated.

General idea with this  list is a block of thunderers/navigator/endrinriggers in and around each frigate, with a roaming kill/support team of 12 skywardens the endrinmaster/khemist and the gunhauler. I went Zon and took the khemist to make the block of skywardens seem really spooky to the enemy.

Below is the full list of models i've picked up and would be open to any suggestions, currently in the process of trying to come up with a quad-frigate list of double-ironclad list, although reading through quite a few pages of this thread they don't seem to be very viable.

    Spoiler

    2 Navigator
    1 Admiral
    1 Aether Khemist
    2 Endrinmasters
    1 Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit

    9 Endrinriggers
    6 Skywardens
    6 Unbuilt Skyriggers
    15 Grundstok Thunderers

    4 Frigates
    2 Ironclad

Any critique would be greatly appreciated, bought a second hand lot and is pretty much the entire lot (there's an extra 10 spider riders if they can be utilised).

  5. "Don’t be alarmed if you run into aelven Wanderers here. Alarielle forgave them for their retreat from Ghyran during the Age of Chaos and graciously granted the aelves sanctuary in outer quarters of the Living City. Now, they fight proudly alongside the Sylvaneth and Stormcast Eternals."

Why couldn't we just have this narrative and give us a new tome 😥

Is there a day each week where we can expect a AOS reveal for something like Cities / Bonereapers news ? Or is it at the start of each week for that stuff?

"Coming soon" and "Coming next week" posts are usually on Sunday judging by looking at the community posts of late, the Beastgrave stuff seems to have finished with the last post being the "Pre-Order today!" so hopefully we'll see some new stuff this week.

  7. full album here!

Finally finished my 2k points of Verminus, took me roughly 2 months on and off.

Playing with them tomorrow so will be posting some action pics!

Many thanks to @Gwendar for the inspiration and sharing his methods a few months ago.

Expect to see my Moulder/Skryre /Eshin/Pestilens armies fully painted over the next however many months!

That's exactly what I had in mind myself.  I already have 20 SotW, so I'm waiting for the book before deciding whether my GG are going to become SotW or maybe Shadow Warriors, as I don't have any of those, or something else we don't yet know about.

I have put everything on hold from a Wanderers and Cities perspective until I know which direction to go.  It has meant, however, that I have been able to concentrate on getting my Troggoth army finished ( nearly there ), so it's not been too frustrating.

Spot on buddy, as soon as the culling/news dropped I completely boxed up all my wanderers/wood aelf stuff and will re-assess what to do with it all when the new tome drops, I want to use as many models I own as possible before trying to get rid of them!

Yeah it's let me focus on pushing out a bunch of Skaven I bought, really close to getting my list fully painted, at which stage there's the other clans... and my Nighthaunt! 😰

  9. Pretty pleased with these boys, managed to smash through 40 of them with relative ease ready for battle along with their movement trays!

I've got 80 Stormvermin that are fully painted just need basing and then their movement trays need doing also, slowly starting to feel like i'm going to actually finish this list!

    Still need to paint:
    -Verminlord Warbringer (based/zenithal primed)
-Grey Seer on screaming bell (zenithal primed/coated with contrast grey ready for details)

I'm waiting for my delivery of masking putty from greenstuffworld (been waiting for about a month!! anyone else had stuff delivered from them? does it usually take this long?) before I do the screaming bell/warbringer due to some fiddly bits I don't want to overspray onto where masking tape/tissue just won't do the job.

He is 5inches tall, and almost 4 and a half inches wide.

what base size Thanqoul uses can be found on the warhammer community website by downloads.

As always thanks for the response Skreech,

Already have the base size PDF!

  11. A very simple question with a very simple answer, however it requires you to own Thanquol and Boneripper.

What are the exact dimensions of the entire model?

I'm asking as I intend to convert the old Thanquol/Boneripper models onto a large base and want to ensure the dimensions are fair as to avoid any complaints about LoS etc.

I like the list quite a bit, as I do think blocks of 40 stormvermin perform better than anyone expects them to.

I would drop Things-bane ( I don't remember what it does) for Aetherquartz Brooch, and probably drop Bell and Gravetide for a command point. You have two heroes with good command abilities and the Bell will only realistically protect one blob of stormvermin. You could also make an argument for dropping the Vortex instead (and the cheeky skitterleap-seer with it), considering you're going to end up catching your own rats in the vortex pretty often and you don't have any shooting attacks to take advantage of the slowing effect. Either way I'd drop the gravetide and fish for triumphs at 1990 or 1980 total.

Yeah I was debating dropping the bell/grave for a cp as it'll most likely end up being used, this will be something i'll definitely test over the course of a few games. Likewise with the Seer/Vortex, although I feel more adamant about keeping this in, however I haven't even used the combo yet so we'll see how it plays out...

    Looks interesting.

Although I’m not sure if 80Stormvermins will do what you really want them to do.

one unit of clanrats that has to protect both units of stormvermins is a hard task for them, while they also are going to try to hold the objective.

If I were you I would maybe drop a unit of them and instead take a unit of clanrats or two and anything else for your backline or flanks.

This is the response I was dreading, I bought like 100 Stormvermin a few months ago in the hopes of a severe points reduction with the new ghb and am absolutely determined to make them work, not only that but i've also painted up 80 of them..

I've had a couple of games and it's confirmed what i've been warned of about them, they're not really that brilliant unless babysat.

I'm going to run this for a few games and see how I get on, any other suggestions on the list?

  14. Constructive criticism on the following list would be greatly appreciated:

    Allegiance: Skaventide

    Leaders
    Clawlord (100)
    - Mighty Warlord Command Trait: Brutal Fury
    Grey Seer (140)

    Verminlord Warbringer (280)
    - General
    - Trait: Verminous Valour
    - Artefact: Things-Bane

    Battleline
    40 x Stormvermin (450)
    - Halberd
    40 x Stormvermin (450)
    - Halberd
    40 x Clanrats (200)
    - Rusty Spear

    Endless Spells / Terrain
    Warp Lightning Vortex (100)
    Bell of Doom (40)
    Suffocating Gravetide (20)

Got to say I agree. I'm not happy about this. I'm very much Tolkien style. I was actually thinking about doing a dispossessed army as well as wanderers.

To give new points values a couple months ago thereby indicating everything has a future, only to do this. Not happy.

Although, I should admit, I don't really know what this all means. Surely they can't withdraw anything? Therefore, all current combinations should remain playable regardless of what happens?

The writing was on the wall, but it doesn't make the blow any less gut-wrenching.

They've essentially axed our only battalion, whilst killing off a model that was so integral to any Wanderers list that pretty much everyone who actually collected the army had 80+

You'll get people saying "b-b-but you can keep using them until ghb-2020! stop complaining!" which is an absolutely ridiculous comment. The army as we know it is done, unfortunately they can withdraw whatever they want. I could stomach the majority of Wood Elves being shown the door, but this is just salt in the wound.

@overtninja I admire the optimism, I own 2500+ points of Wanderers, not to mention a further 3k+ of Wood Elves, so I can appreciate some of your comments about the older models showing their age, but this is the beginning of an extremely slippery slope for every single one of my Wanderers models which I thought were going to actually see some love from GW.

  16. Upset isn't even the word, such a kick in the teeth.

People will try and put a positive spin on this and/or play it down by trying to claim it's "justified" but i'd be very interested to see the amount of models you actually have.

Won't be making any purchases for a long while, wouldn't have bought Warcry if I knew this was going to happen either.

  17. Some Stormvermin that are heavily inspired by @Gwendar's posts!

As well as the remaining Verminus list I need to paint in this entire scheme :(

Threw an OSL one in there to spark some criticism and hopefully to point me in the right direction of whether to do the OSL with all of the models or not, or even just how to better improve it!

When you compare the Rogue’s stun to everyone else’s, you might say how come all of the other 9 characters have a proper 2 second stun attack, but the Rogue can only stun for 0.5 seconds? The Rogue has a worse stun than everyone else, therefore let’s increase his stun to 1.5 seconds.

If your objective is better game balance – do you think increasing the stun duration of the rogue to 1.5 seconds is the right move or not?

Will it help bring the Rogue’s win rate in line with the mean, or not? Clearly it won’t. When people are designing any kind of game like this, Characters or armies in AoS case have a power budget.

Do you honestly believe that this is comparable to reducing the cost of Stormvermin? Do you really think that decreasing their cost will make them an auto-include? If so we're on completely different pages.

    42 minutes ago, Unter said:

Skaven have the most diverse ‘top lists’ out of any of the most competitive armies. Yes there are auto includes (WLV), but come on.

Gristlegore lists are almost exactly the same (corpse cart/no corpse cart), DoK lists again are almost exactly the same (Hag’Narr, sometimes snakes), top Nagash lists varied a few characters and spells and that’s about it. All top Idoneth lists have at least 18 eels.

Comparing us to something even worse doesn't make us better, is that seriously the bar we're holding ourselves up to?

    43 minutes ago, Unter said:

Skaven have multiple Verminlord lists, shooting lists, plague monk lists and I suspect a few more hidden up our sleeves.

We’ve seen triple Bell lists, Jezzails/Acolytes and even a few Doomwheels/HPAs that have won major tournaments.

    -Verminlords
    -Skryre
    -Monks
    -Bell
You've just listed all of the things that are completely holding the tome back from being a means of providing a multitude of wacky and wonderful lists due to their rather blatant imbalance, and although the HPA buff was pretty sweet it's still not enough to carry Moulder.

    49 minutes ago, Unter said:

I simply don’t think you can do like for like comparisons in a game like this, because the game is army vs army not unit vs unit.

I think this is unfortunately where we're losing each other, you seem to be too attached to this statement, regardless of its truth. I feel you're completely dismissing the fact that Stormvermin are WAY below the threshold to be even CONSIDERED an auto-include.
