  1. Hi guys, I'm making a return to AoS with a couple of armies and Seraphon was one of them. One thing that I can't wrap my head around is the 1+ save thing.

Can someone go over the "Bastiladons unrendable save at 1+" again with me please?

I don't get how it's meant to work. If someone hits it with a -2 rend, the save would be modified from 1+ to 3+.

...So If I roll a 1, it fails anyway; but if I roll a 2, and it's been changed to 3, should that also not fail?

I need help wrapping my lizard brain around this.

  2. Does anyone have any first hand experience with recent lists that exclude Judgments, and lists that include them? How close to an auto include are they in your lists?

Trying to figure out how many points to set aside for them, or just hit 2k with units alone.

Edit: If you were building a 'take all comers' tournament list, how would you rank the 3 judgments?

You could Bloodtithe-move him after the teleport as both are *at the beginning* abilities (at least that's how I understand it).

That's true. I guess the whole thing is situational so it could work out great. But because we have to throw the rest of out tithe away when we blink it might be useful to spend that tithe elsewhere. I reckon it's a great tool in a smaller game though!

That's a pretty tight summoning space to fit in, within 12 but 9 away. Not sure if you could physically fit the battalion?

Yeah I think it's made for smaller games. You won't get a 30 man blob teleporting with it, but you should be able to transport the minimum amount if the quarry is exposed.

Can't see it working in a competitive format as it requires too much investment but it's got to be a fun battalion for beginners!

You can attempt a charge after the teleport though. And all our flesh hounds including karanak get reroll charge. At 9" it is a long shot but the probability is around 48%.

Yep and if you need the summon then you'd obviously charge in - you'd just need to survive long enough so you get the chance to summon them, as summoning the doggos occurs in your hero phase when he's within 8".

Just have to be careful as a lot can happen if your opponent gets a double turn.

There's a "The Boundless Hunt" battalion in Wrath&Rapture. It's currently legal in builder and costs 130pt.

It needs Karanak, 1x letters, 1x doggos, 1x bloodcrushers.

The ability is 'At the beginning of your hero phase Karanak and any number of units from the battalion wholly within 12" of him can teleport within 12" of Karanak's quarry and more than 9" from enemy, they can't move in subsequent movement phase'.

Brutal! Only thing is Karanak will need to get closer to the target before the next hero phase before he can summon more yappers. If your opponent is clever they will fall back or aim to gun Karanak down before he gets the chance. Still, it's a great way to redeploy if you need to.

Personally I would drop gyrestrike for amberglaive as IR already has 2+ to wound and the +1" reach has been nice for me. Then I'd probably drop both units of warriors and the bleeding icon for 1x dogs and Karnak. Karnack doesnt vount as a leader and effectively is 40 points once he free summons dogs. The dogs imo are better at screening than warriors as they are faster and give you all the denys you want.

Amberglaive, that's the one I meant!

I could try that, but I don't know if Karanak would work in a larger game with arguably less models. I know the threat saturation is pretty high at this point but I do need boots on the ground for early objectives . I love that he summons more woofers though - IF my opponent lets it happen.

I honestly just took the warriors to hold objectives as they've got a 4+ save and cause some serious harm to larger units. Don't know if a unit of 10 is better, or more tithe? That's the stuff I need to practice!

Also, which slaughter host would be better? I can't decide between the Reapers or Bloodlords!

hi, I am trying to build a Tyrants of blood list too. What was your list? How the bloodthirsers have been killed?

IMO I would not play an Insansate Rage without a Warth of Khorne to make him re roll hit rolls.

Aside from a very casual list I've been using - I've started buying & building a Tyrants list. Undecided on a Slaughter Host though, not sure which is best!

Allegiance: Khorne (off to a good start...)

    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    LEADERS

Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (280) - Artefact : Ghyrstrike

    Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury (300)

    Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (320)

    Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (280)

    Slaughterpriest (100)

    Slaughterpriest (100)

    UNITS

    5 x Blood Warriors (100) - Goreaxe & Gorefist

    5 x Flesh Hounds (100)

    5 x Flesh Hounds (100)

    5 x Blood Warriors (100) - Goreaxe & Gorefist

    BATTALIONS

    Tyrants of Blood (140)

    ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN

    Hexgorger Skulls (40)

    Bleeding Icon (40)

    TOTAL: 2000/2000

    EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 1

    WOUNDS: 108 - LEADERS: 6/6 - BATTLELINES: 4 (3+) - BEHEMOTHS: 4/4  - ARTILLERY: 0/4 - ARTEFACTS: 1/2 - ALLIES: 0/400

    ---

I've mucked about with other versions of this, but I'm curious to know if anyone has had any success using a troop composition like that?
