So I had my very first game of Warcry today, and was playing a pure Freeguild force vs Corvus Cabal.

    Guild Champion: 175

3 Freeguild Guard with Shields: 240
    2 Freeguild Handgunners: 160
    3 Freeguild Greatswords: 285
    1 Freeguild Halberdier: 75
1 Freeguild Guard with Spear: 65

    1000 points.

I won the game, capturing both objectives with my high number of bodies.

My Guild Champion scored 4 crits on the enemy leader and blew him up in one go.

I didn't get any crits with my gunners despite using Volley of Shots a few times, so it was a bit of bad luck but they performed fine. A little bit of peel was good.

The Shield Wall ability was pretty good at holding down my objective, while the Greatswords were pretty good frontline fighters. Reclaim for Sigmar was a really nice and cheap steroid to make sure all my normally mid-level fighters could compete with stronger enemies. The Halberdier did more than I was expecting.

From what I could understand, Hammerhal are a comfy all-rounder force and I had good fun.

That’s great to hear! Working on converting up a warband for my group’s next campaign (just started one with my Beasts of Chaos). But that won’t be for a little while, so living vicariously through posts like these 🤘.

Guild Champion is the Greatsword sergeant. Sounds like the intended leader of Freeguild warbands.

    Thanks!

Do we know if the warband abilities are specific to the unit types? (e.g. Freeguild abilities, Dwarf abilities, etc.)? Or are the abilities shared by all units?

    Ironbreaker

    Wildwood Warden

    Wildwood Ranger

Thanks a lot for posting this! Quick question though: What model is the the Guild Champion? Is it a Freeguild General? Also would you mind saying what weapon a Freeguild Sergeant is carrying?

Bummed out that there are no flagelants, would have really liked to make a Witch Hunter themed warband.

Can't say I'm not disappointed by the scale of the points adjustments we got, but frankly I'll take anything. Always loved the Cockatrice model, so any excuse to run them is good news in my book.

We had a points change? I didn’t see anything go by on the leaked GHB2020 pages I found (only reprinted points from the December 2019 FAQ). Would you mind sharing where you saw this? Tbh I’ll take whatever we can get at this point

  5. Thanks Maddpainting, very appreciated!

And for the Spawn generated via the Gavespawn’s Gift of Morghur ability, does it get to attack once it is generated, i.e. as soon as my hero is slain (assuming it is in range)? Or only in the combat phase of my next turn?

Very excited to run me some Gavespawn 🤘

  6. Quick question about the Brayherd Shaman’s Devolve spell. When it says that each enemy model targeted with the spell ends its move as close as possible to my nearest unit, does that mean up to 3” away of my unit so as to not be in combat? Or to move it physically as close as possible, even if that bring it into combat with my unit  (i.e. within 3” if the 2D6 roll was high enough)?

Similar question for the Gavespawn’s Gift of Morghur ability. Does setting up the model anywhere  within 6” of my hero mean I can set it up such such that it is in combat with an enemy unit within range (i.e. within 3” of it)? Even if that enemy unit wasn’t previously in combat?

    Thanks in advance!
