  1. I'm considering 20 in an ironclad with the ignore overburdened endrinwork - I think that's still a thing. Also considering 20 with a khemist for Tempest Eye in Cities.
  2. On my last read of it, fumigator wasn't mentioned. I easily could have missed it. Yes they are. I'll probably be taking units of 10 or 20 though. So 2-4 of the good weapons, but only one mortar and the rest rifles.
  3. Best thunderer weapons by math is Max decksweeper and aethercannon. 1 mortar. No fumigator. All of those can hit after a fly high, and they're better damage than rifles. Mortar is a tax for the hit bonus in case you ever get out of the boat. I'm going to magnetize mine for future proofing.
  4. So? The KoS is dead and you've lost nothing. Now the opponent is down on points and has to try to catch up. Or use the Grundstok Escort Wing battalion and choose it as the battalion target to re-roll 1s to hit. Or be Zilfin and re-roll 1s to hit against flyers (KoS doesn't fly unless they give him the thermalrider cloak, which they commonly do).
  5. Been looking at this unit. They got a points decrease, too.
  6. Is this the first chicken little of the day? Book looks good to me. Not sure what got messed up.
  7. Unless I'm mathing wrong, Thunderers have the same damage output versus a 4+ save target, same wounds. But they cost 33% more for... more range. Not sure it's worth that premium.
  8. Don't forget to pay for your endless spell.
  9. Scroll up a comment or two - someone found the rule that says they don't count in the new tome. Not sure how they got such high res.
  10. I think the escort wing battalion is looking good. The bonus is very usable. Keeps your drops low, free CP, extra artefact.
  11. If the model is in the garrison, you measure to the garrison to determine it's range and visibility. So for each model that's in the garrison, you can check range to the objective from the garrison. So if you have 10 arkanaughts inside an Ironclad that's sitting on an objective, each of those 10 arkanaughts would count as being within 6" of the objective because the garrison rule says to determine range for them by measuring to/from the garrison. Nothing implies counting them as 1 model.
  12. I'm not guessing. I'm reading the rules. And the rules say all measurements for the unit are made from the garrison. So if you're measuring to see if they're within range of the objective, you measure to the garrison. That's pretty clear.
  13. Okay, but where in the rules is it? I haven't yet found it.
  14. I'm not seeing this from the rules. ManReadsBook seems to think so. But Garrison rules say you measure from the garrison they're in. So rules-as-written means you measure from the objective to the ship, and then the things inside the ship count as within too because all measurements are from the ship.
  15. Pretty sure range is "within", while placement is "outside of". You can't be both.
  16. If you go to the New Zealand page for the Aether War, click downloads, there are broken links to each warscroll. They don't work. But... there's an extra slash in them! If you take out the extra slash... they still don't work.
  17. I was honestly surprised they raised the values when they did. Seemed like really bad timing. SCE wasn't exactly dominating at the time. And they were releasing comparative nonsense in the new books.
  18. Exactly what I was thinking. My friend that plays Sylvaneth (who got a new tome this year) was telling me yesterday of how bad his match-ups are currently. He could buy a bunch of Kurnoth Hunters and hope that works. But who wants to throw good money after bad. Same for Mawtribes. Then we've had OP situations come out of DoK, FEC, Skaven, and Slaanesh. I was actually teasing the nay-saying when I said the sky was falling (apparently that wasn't obvious?) But GW is not good at writing rules. Pretty sure they don't even try to be good at balance. We already know they didn't know how fly worked in 40k until after they FAQ'd it in 8th edition. They didn't know that being able to summon a KoS by losing a KoS was possible/bad. And all the fight first/fight twice they've put out heavily implies they don't understand that lack of interaction is bad. So hold your moans until after the book drops. But less also be honest lol
  19. The sky is falling! And we're in it! I know we're all anxious. I sure am.
  20. 100% correct. Then, the army is either balanced competitively or not - with or without a terrain piece.
  21. "A garrisoning unit can leave in your movement phase. When it does, set it up so that all models from the unit are within 6" of the terrain feature and more than 3" from any enemy units. This counts as their move for that movement phase." So the embark/disembark rules might not change. But garrisoned units can leave during the movement phase. Based only on what we know right now, you can absolutely have a 3 drop army that can teleport almost anywhere on the board, then have units jump out and only need a 3" charge.
