    This is very interesting.

Is it explicitly explained somewhere, that "rerolling failed saves" means "failed before modifiers"?

It is not. In fact the rules quite clearly have you apply modifiers from rend before you determine whether the save succeeds or fails.

  2. I appreciate the cost argument, but if the hypothetical new terrain works better then I ultimately won’t mind.

What worries me is the potential playstyle impact. I bought into Sylvaneth to play a slightly tricksy, teleporting and terrain manipulation faction. If removing the Wyldwoods means cutting back on teleporting and turning the army into a relatively slow and predictable melee army which replaces mobility with excessive healing (for example) as an Order alternative to Death style recursion then I won’t be happy.

Swapping Wyldwoods for a more convenient teleport nexus with a few other benefits is (theoretically - subject to actual implementation) fine with me.

I'm just curious, why are you guys convinced that wyldwoods suddenly are not a thing anymore?  Is there any source that's said they are going?

Not an official source. Several people ‘know a guy’. Lots of the evidence seems consistent and credible.

For real, the Wyldwoods have been MVP for me many games, and the whole army would be pretty fragile and slow without them.

    That’s my experience too.

Im not married to them as scenery pieces, but the Wyldwoods pull a lot of weight for the faction, and it’s not as if we are tearing up the competitive circuit even with the ability to drop terrain that simultaneously blocks LoS, provides cover, limits charging and has a range of buffs for pretty much every sylvaneth unit.

Changing them, or dropping them entirely, is fine in theory. But it’ll take one hell of a rewrite to the rest of the faction unless they are replaced with something similarly effective, or we get a slew of other buffs.

I’m curious to see what the future brings., but also wary insofar as terrain manipulation and teleport shenanigans is what attracted me to a Sylvaneth in the first place.
