I see an issue with the Blood Tyrants list.

It is very strong and viable to destroy a lot os stuff.
But with the intention to play objective based scenarios, that list is absolutely not fitting.

I also think, that the Bloodthirsters are not sooooo good, but that's maybe just my opinion.

Might be a thing to concider, that we shall not rely on those 3 Bloodthirsters so much.

If the triple bloodthirster isn't our best option, then really what is? It's 3 ridiculous hammers that are going to kill what they charge, I mean getting up to 72 MW from skarbrand when there are mongers OR a secrator in reapers, or 96 with both. That's alongside up to 22 3dmg attacks.

No we can't hold objectives, but if they're relying on a unit we have 3 to kill them with. Even a sequitor or evocator wall is just getting straight smashed by that. As Luke said, if they have nothing left to hold objectives with then the battleline choices in the triple wombo combo can capitalise. In my list, theres a fat block of 40 fearless bloodreavers. That's holding the objective they want to.

However I admit you make a very good point that it is pretty weak to hold objectives

I saw someone post a list using bloodlords and reapers of vengeance slaughterhost. Is this legal? Would you pick one ability, one command trait, one command ability, be forced to use both artefacts from the host? Your still capped at 2 arterfacts right?  As i understood you could choose more than one host to use one for mortals and one for daemons, not two for daemons then pick and choose the stuff you wanted (trait, ability, Command ability, artefact).

I posted the list with both (in brackets) as I was undecided on which thing to use.

So no, you cannot pick and choose. It is across the whole army

  3. Struggling to decide between two lists. Same basic composition, subtly different. Also it's quite hard to choose between reapers and bloodlords, so I'll just lable their artifacts and cmd traits in brackets. Both of them would do wonders for the list.

    In both:

Tyrants of blood: skarbrand, BToIR w ghyrstrike, WoKBT (reapers cmd ability and relic)/(halo of blood) 1140

    2 slaughterpriests, axe 260

    Bloodsecrator 140(bloodlords cmd trait)

So this leaves few points for battleline. I'm struggling to decide on a perfect one, but I've got 2 ideas:

    1: 40 bloodreavers, 2 sets of 5 flesh hounds

    1980

    2: 20 bloodreavers, 2x10 bloodreavers, 5 wrathmongers, skulls/icon as extra

    2000

The first one gives a massive block of bodies that can be used to screen, hold, and are quite killy given +1 to hit if the banner is in. The slaughterpriests can take ignore battleshock too. It also gives 2 flanking units of flesh hounds, 21 attacks in combat, get to deny a spell, are equally as survivable as 10 reavers.

The second, primarily, gives wrathmongers. These boys will buff skarbrand off his face with the banner too for guaranteed 24 mortal wounds t2. However less bodies so less flanking strength.

Final desicion is between bloods and reapers. I'm erring on the side of bloodlords because of the halo and how fast it makes the secrator. Also, rerolling wounds on the thirsters is golden. But also fight twice. Tough choice.

    Thoughts?/feedback?

  4. Any tips for magnetising the bloodthirsters and skarbrand? Their wings are gigantic, no way fitting in a case. There are some nice magnet sized holes in the wing joint on the normal thirster. Also, any easy way to magnetise the whip/flail to swap between an unfettered and WoK?  Certain combos for different lists, don't fancy dropping another 70 on another Id have to build and paint.

Surely someone here has some experience with this?

  5. So it seems people are very on the fence about which slaughterhost is better for daemons.

What are people thinking? (In terms of thirster heavy lists)

Reapers of vengeance: worse all round trait in most situations imo (add d3 to models that flee), relic&cmd trait are ok to to decent depending on the list (unbind & ignore spell effects), but there is access to these abilities plenty in the book that isn't mandatorialy taking up the precious artifact and command slots. But, the command ability is just AMAZING- fight twice. Nuff said really. Doubles damage output of multiple units- imagine angry skarbrand with extra attacks fighting twice, that's 20 3 dmg attacks as well as an average of 40(!) Mortal wounds. Depends on CP available which could be a problem, especially in a thirster heavy list.

Bloodlords: I think it's an overall better trait, rerolling wounds is hard to come by in this book, and especially useful against the things it is against, monsters and hero's. Command trait +4 move. Just simply better whatever it gets put on. Personally a secrator with banner sounds like a good choice, keeping up with the fast thirsters. Halo of blood lets you fight first ALWAYS, not just your turn- good, very good, better than the reapers one, but not necessarily paramount. Command trait- heal shenanigans. Decent, but pales in comparison to reapers.

Probably depends on the exact list being run. Will need testing.

    Thoughts?

  6. I had a long look in the book last night, thought up another list using the triple thirster always fight first nuttyness

    Bloodlords

    Tyrants of blood battalion 140

    Skarbrand 400

WoK thirster with halo of blood 320

Thirster of insensate rage thirster with Ar'gath king of blades 280

Slaughter priest x2 with axe 260

Bloodsecrstor, general, slaughterers thirst(to keep up with everyone, he can use this trait the best) 140

    40 bloodreavers 240

    2x5 flesh hounds 200

    1980

Again, looking to make a list that can hold its own in a tournament (might go to one of the team ones) and this seems far better than bloodcrushers imo. Could use anbloodstoker but I'd have to get rid of a hero and slaughter priest seems better.

For the bloodreavers, staying wholly within 16 seems a bit difficult especially if they're going for a charge. Need some clever positioning during movement and then a nice easy charge probably.

The flesh hounds are there to cause trouble on flanks & hold objectives, not really needing them to do much.

I understand this list has a very very heavy reliance on the bloodthirsters, so a counter would destroy me.

    Cheers guys

  7. So yesterday went into store to do some painting, saw that the new BoK tome came out (not really played aos alot but interested) and decided to have a 'little' look.

Walked out with a bloodthirster and the book. And a lot of ideas. So hi guys I'm new here to ask about this list.

First idea I had is a cool jugger list (that can be ported to 40k, so I want to stay mainly daemons):

Reapers of vengeance (because fight twice)

Thirster of insensate rage with Ar'gath 280

Wrath of khorne thirster with skullshard mantle 320

    Bloodthunder stampede 140

Skullmaster, general, with mage eater 120

    9 bloodcrushers 420

    6 bloodcrushers 280

    6 bloodcrushers 280

That's 1840, enough for a priest and axe.

I really like the bloodcrushers, but 1 attack is meh- when I have no secrator.

I want a really solid list, good enough for a friendly tournament kind of level, and it just doesn't feel up to scratch. I do want to stay mainly daemons because I'm sitting on world eaters coming out(that influenced my decision, a lot).

Could try for triple thirster with the crown in bloodlords for some strike first shenanigans, that sounds cool.

    Cheers for any replies guys.
