  1. Hello all, what do you guys think about Warmachine/Hordes models in Age of Sigmar? Mostly Heroes, and a small number of units. It's all basically WYSIWYG (Well, Battlemages might have spears or bare hands instead of staffs), for example Circle Orboros Reeves as Freeguild Crossbowmen, Wolves of Orboros as Pheonix Guard, Baldur as Freeguild General, various solos and unit add-ons as Battlemages. Maybe even Bradigus Thorle as the Celestant prime? I just love the Circle Orboros line, and their models fit my theme perfectly. Pheonix Guard and Freeguild Crossbowmen are great models, but the Wolves and Reeves of Orboros make more sense in my aesthetic, which is an All-natural Living City force. In addition, I like the Privateers Press games (Not as much as AoS - they're a little Rules heavy for my tastes) and setting a lot, having played them with my dad when I first got into wargaming, and if I ever decide to get back into that universe it would be nice to have some starting models. What do you all think? About this specifically, and Warmahordes models being used in AoS in general?

  2. Okay, hey guys, sorry for the silence but my family recently moved off grid. So, I say that I'm a Sylvaneth/Wanderers player, but I only have a few models - I mostly play Warcry. What would you guys suggest proxying Glade Guard as? Shadow Warriors? Do they work as sisters of the watch or do they not look right?

Also, how would allies work for a Waywatcher? Does the warscroll still exist even though the model is gone and, if so, what category would it be under? Wanderers? Asking because there doesn't seem to be a suitable proxy for a Waywatcher.

  3. Hey guys, it's been way too long. If any of you remember me, my family moved off grid and I haven't had a chance to update. I was planning on just lurking to begin with, but this topic is an absolute gem - Lore is the best part of the hobby imho. I like everything so far, but I was thinking, maybe we could have a Homebrew Stormhost focused on Seafaring? Like the thing in Tyler Mengel's Homebrew tomb Kings stuff, just not necessarily Hammers of Sigmar. Maybe a metallic purple armor, something like the Trident Lords? other than that, I'm super excited about this - if you will take me, I'd love to contribute.

PS: I love the whole Shadow War thing going on - perfect setting for games using the Warcry rules. I like the idea of the city being built around bones, but the Beast regenerating in the underground pool. Reincarnation, man!

I think a Psychic Awakening-style event for AoS wouldn't go amiss. A round of smaller updates for every army, either introducing new units for the newer/smaller armies or beautiful new resculpts for older armies, done via dual battle boxes (the availability of which needs to be carefully managed), books and events, before more general releases, and it could fold in the continuing new/rejigged armies AoS will keep seeing.

You might see, I dunno, Corruption of the Sea: Nurgle and Idoneth get the spotlight. Both get a new unit, Nurgle gets some Pestigor and Idoneth get a dude riding a giant crab. Or Shadows In The Forest: the Kurnothi get an army release and get packaged in with new Skaven sculpts for Clan Eshin Gutter Runners and Night Runners (and since I'm already at full mast, why not Death Runners too?).

Basically continue the process of clearing out the metal and resin, whilst also feeding us shiny new things.

Honestly, that Shadows in the Forest box sounds awesome. Can GW hire you, because I also need a Crab riding Aelf in my life. Also, my sister plays nurgle, so I would love to see some pestigors - the Wood Elves and Beastmen have a long rivalry you know.

  5. I recently got rid of most of my AoS stuff. My family is moving to a smaller abode and I decided that, as I don't really play much, I didn't need to bring it. I brought a few models for Nostalgia's sake, specifically a unit of Glade Guard, a Waywatcher, and what passed for a single tree-kin (A Mage-Knight-Dungeons model on a Warhammer base). The good thing is that this all leaves me to start anew and choose a fresh army to go with.

btw i hope screenshots from official sources are ok on the forum. If not I will remove them

I'm pretty sure they had a section like this in an old Ogor Kingdoms book - 6th edition maybe? I have the old white dwarf preview. Issue 300 I think.

Yass! I always thought that the old Grey Ogres looked better than painting them with actual flesh.

  7. Ok, so pre-orders up. I know I don't play Ogors, but they intrigue me enough to possibly look into - anyways, I thought a new topic was in order. The Orruk Warclans one was up WAY earlier, and we all need a place to talk about lists and lore and speculation and such. Let the feast of bones begin!

Hi all. So here is my starting army:

    Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar
    - City: Living City

    Leaders
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)
    - Lance of Spite & Shield
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)
    - Exile Blade & Repeater Crossbow
    Nomad Prince (120)
    - General
    Sorceress (90)

    Battleline
    10 x Eternal Guard (130)
    10 x Sisters of the Watch (160)

    Units
    5 x Dark Riders (110)
    5 x Drakespawn Knights (170)
    20 x Shadow Warriors (220)

    Total: 1600 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 98

I think is a good base, is what I can use of my old wood elf army, it has a lot of mobility and distance and I love going with two dragons.

From here I can remove Dark riders and play 1500 with 2 blines. And for going 2k y have 3 options:

     - Treelord ancient and Brachwraith. By making a wyldwood and the option of summoning 10 dryads each turn. Of course the wyldwood can make my "cities" units some damage but I can focus a zone with the treelord and magic and dryads and support from distance. Also going with 2 dragons and a treelord I know my friends will focus a lot on them leting me go here and there with the units. Here we should change the sorcerer for an assassin general and make 2x 10 shadow warriors to have the 3 blines

     - Remove Dark riders and Knights. Change sorcerer by Assassin to make shadow warrior line and introduce Alarielle. 2 dragons and Alarielle summoning 20 dryads.

     - Going on with aelfs. Sisters of the thorn, 10 more Eternal Guard and 10 wildwood rangers.

So what do you think? for now I will use options 1 and 2 because I wanna finish painting and going into scenery for represent the living city. Later maybe I will take sisters of the Thorn because they are so so soooooo cool models

I think option 2 looks the best. Alarielle is a spectacular model, and a blob of 20 dryads never hurt.

So just go my Cogsmith and first batch of Irondrakes in, had this fellow for a while and decided to mess with what scheme I wanted for my Greywater, I think I'll roll with this, bit more regal. Wish it would stop raining so I can prime my Dorf bois up

Looks good! I'm painting my Stormcast in bronze and green, personally.

  10. Oof. So, this might be semi-embarrassing. So, I portray myself as a Wanderers and Sylvaneth player, but I don't have much on the way of MODELS. Most of my Hobby time is devoted to painting what I do have and making up lore. Lots and LOTS of Lore. When you're still in school, (Not getting any more specific) Hobby Funds tend to be low. So I mostly rely on Holidays. So here it is:

1 SC! Sylvaneth, Treelord assembled as Durthu

    1 Waywatcher

    12 Glade Guard

So the rest of it is obtained secondhand.

1 random Freeguild Greatsword that I use as a General

    2 Freeguild Generals on Horseback

    10 Freeguild Giuard w/ Spears

10 Freeguild Guard w/ Swords and Shields

    10 Freeguild gunners

    1 Battlemage

    1 Knight Incantor

    15 Sequitors

    5 Evocators

    3 Vanguard-Palladors

    15 Liberators

    3 Prosecutors

    5 Retrivutors

    1 Lord Relictor

    1 Lord Celestant

So I mostly play 1k games, using my Glade Guard as Shadow Warriors and my Waywatcher as a Nomad Prince. Hoping to expand soon.

  11. You know what I love about CoS? I love that, instead of restricting us to a faction, it lets us run wild. We can convert Dark Elves with leaves and paint them up like living city warriors, we can convert Freeguild with leaves and paint them up like living city warriors, everqueen, we can even convert a STEAM TANK with leaves and paint it up like a living city STEAM TANK!

On a less optimistic note, it's sad to see the Wanderers sculpt go. I had just gotten into the hobby and picked up a couple units of Wanderers to start - A Waywatcher and some Glade Guard - then got distracted with 40k for a while. I got a SC! Sylvaneth for christmas, and that got me back into things, and then CoS dropped and the Waystrider was gone. I love my Waywatcher, and was hoping to pick up a Wayfinder, but I absolutely adore the Waystrider sculpt. Too late to pick one up from GW, though I might try to find one on Ebay...

Hey so if repost - So Shadowblades have no Relics?

No. They have been joined with the rest of the Cities of Sigmar line, and will have to rely on them for Relics and Command Traits. I guess, you could still play Shadowblades allegiance if you wanted to, but you couldn't include any other cities of sigmar units. I suspect they will remove the allegiance abilities of the combined factions with a new FAQ or General's Handbook. So no, they don't have any of their own, but can use CoS ones now.
