  1. It appears I have failed my contract, I blame getting sidetracked, I was unable to finish the Magmadroth and the Runeson, although it's mostly because I got sidetracked into a gunhauler, which I am nearly finished with but got burned out on. Maybe I can finish my Runeson, but i am going to set my goal low and say finish the Magmadroth and the Gunhauler.

Heres hoping the incredibly salt ridden rumour that is the Sons of Behemat releasing on the 4th of July is true!!

The amount of salt on that rumor is enough to make a lake seawater. But hey, still hoping for it!

Hey folks. Been following this thread for a while as I've been frothing on the Lumineth and excited about my first foray in AOS. Decided I'd create an account and join in the anticipation with you lot :)

Does the owl posted in the rumour engine give anyone any lumineth vibes?

If anything I would have to say idoneth actually, gives me a vaguely aquatic vibe.

That sounds good to me.  1000 isn’t hard to get especially when you lay on the world building.  Look at A song of ice and fire,  most of those books are him laying the scene for a little bit of action.  I thought it was kind of humorous how much dialogue he put into the books but the show tried filling as much action as possible into the story.

I say we set atleast a basic prompt like essays like it should be a conversational piece about fluffing out what we already have with more concrete details or an action piece that introduces the audience to the main cast of races/characters that are important for people to get a real feel for Calderos.

I agree, with maybe lets say for this one, describing the area/character that you will focus on. I know I am going to be focusing on a KO/LOA type of story, driven by AoS28 and probably continue Sally's story.

The first 10 marauders using frostgrave barbarians. I quite like them. I used a banner and a horn from the chaos warrior kit I ahd alying around to form a command group. If playing more wysiwyg you would have to figure out to get a lot of shields, as the kit only comes with 2 shields per 5 models. I will not be using these guys in any GW shops anyway, so I will have the odd two handed weapon for variety and looks.100623133_592030805001276_8801364939945017344_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&_nc_sid=b96e70&_nc_ohc=tXDTuU16uXoAX8icV_g&_nc_ht=scontent-cph2-1.xx&_nc_tp=7&oh=bf3f232ec4fc726bb2645363ff01437b&oe=5EF1C6CF

Vikings are clearly much more focused on the attack than the defense. Shields are clearly for those who are not strong enough to just shrug off the blow.

    World Shaper Lord Concept

Currently i'm trying to work out how I want to model my Tree Lord, I currently have 2 concepts in mind.

First idea is a dwarvish version of the tree lord, rather than a tall slim ent like creature, it would be a mix of stone and plant built up around a dwarf. It could blend the classic dwarf golem concept and sylvaneth look. Inspiration below.

Earth Golem Card Art by Sk8trnik | Fantasy monster, Creature art ...

The 2nd idea would be more of a summoned nature spirit made of stone and plants, floating above a druidic dwarf. this would be a bit more difficult to sculpt but I could make use of techniques used to make the Stone Shapers. Inspiration below.

ArtStation - earth elemental, Ilya Abdrakhimov | Concept art ...

What do you lot think? Any other ideas of how I could do it?

You did a great job with those great stone shapers, perhaps you could have the stone coming out of the ground and forming the body of it, maybe have head joined in the back so that it looks a little free floting fromt he front, and have the arms attached by several "tendril" things, like a thin tendril things attaching the sockets, its hard to explain. But attaching it using multiple of these individually weak points to give it more of an impression of free floating, with maybe even runesmiter positioned on top of it, gesturing with rocks coming from beneath it and supporting him.

Well, let the stuff kinda dry and then used a cheap coffee grinder to make some flocking for my armies on display board. Hopefully it will work well! Been bouncing between this, total war warhammer II, and casting blocks for the temple, so I am keeping myself busy until the summer semester starts!

anyways, redid the bases with the new stuff. My dad says it looks more natural than store bought, but I still think it’s a bit too chunky. We’ll see, though! Also I gotta do something for the saphery symbol, but I don’t know what yet...

I think that both of the pillars look very natural, maybe been left out in the weather for a bit, but maintained to a degree.

I feel as though with Warcry opening up to non-chaos warbands, my immediate thought for all rumour engines is now warcry.

    Owl - Kurnothi Warband

    Crab claw - Idoneth Warband

40k Bolt Rifle - Space Marine Warcry Warband

Actually it's all a space marine 40k lieutenant warband, one who has a crab pet and one with an owl to try and blend them into AoS.

I think this is exactly the case, and of course the end result of that line of thinking. I believe most players have a budget of sorts and will continue to spend it as long as they're in the game. GW doesn't care if a customer stops a particular army because it's too expensive or got nerfed or whatever, as long as they continue spending their budget on GW products. Really the only issue they face is the minor amount of attrition that comes along with the price increases, losing some players completely. In theory that should be made up with new players but of course as prices get higher and higher the likelihood of new players gets lower and lower. The fear is typically that the flow of new players willing to pay the frankly absurd entry cost for the game will eventually dry up and the game will wither on the vine so to speak. Of course that fear has been around for years and the game still seems to be doing fine, so who knows if it'll ever actually come to pass.

Personally, I know that the hikes have basically made me embarrassed to suggest the game to people because I just can't imagine anyone willing to pay the costs out of the gate, and I know exactly how people would react to the sticker shock. They've also killed my desire to start new factions because it takes too many months of hobby budget to get a functioning force up and running. That leaves me with fleshing out my existing factions which is plenty of hobby time for now, but will also eventually dry up unless GW starts going back and adding new models to the ranges.

My start was when I first walked into a hobby store, maybe 2-3 years back, and saw all the amazing miniatures. I selected my faction, and bought a single box. I ended up staying away from it for another 2 years because I didn't have paints or the tools, and I was just kinda pushed away from the hobby, especially considering the fact that my chosen faction was a bit, well, under powered at the time (KO). When the released the new BT I was finally able to justify entering into the hobby fully and instead of getting a small 10 man box actually got the SC and had everything to go for some battles. Ofc this was in Jan of 2020 so no glorious battle for me. Basically what I am trying to get at is that the costs were high but I had anticipated that and accepted that it's going to be a slow grow hobby. Got a friend stuck in recently as well, which is quite nice. Once again, although he is a bit scared of the costs, he accepts it's a new hobby. Speaking from the viewpoint of a new hobbyist.

Has anyone written up anything?  I have been on a painting streak so I haven’t had time to devote to writing.  I really hope this thread isn’t 💀.

I thought the same thing. I say lets use the writing competition prompt and get some steam back. Write 1 () short story by next monday, of a modest length 1000 words+ written about anything you wish to focus on. Use the previous pages as inspiration and remember you have a quite wide creators license, a lot of the details are not quite solidified. Reward: The knowledge that everyone thinks you are the best writer here.

PSA for Kharadron, the prices for the Ironclad, Skyriggers, Thunderers and Thundrik's Profiteers are going to increase in June.

Nevermind :( Although I am happy that it wasn't hit too hard by the global depression thing

Loving these pics guys, keep them coming!!

Question for anyone’s who’s painted an Ironclad - did you stick the guy with the paintbrush on the side or not? Seems a bit jarring to have some fella who missed a bit hanging around while the bombs are going off.

Gotta do what you gotta do amirite? I like him there, shows how important the paint is too the ship.

I know i am not the best painter (especially because of my impatience),

but i would like to hear your opinions.😊

Not 100% shure about the base edges yet.

Absolutely love him, the red is better done here than in the art, it really gives that worn and used feel.

Thanks! Interesting idea, I will certainly use it as inspiration. To keep the dragon up I did have something else in mind. After a trip to the local crafts store I got a wooden rod about 1cm in diameter which fits perfectly in the dragon's mouth. This way I can actually have the dragon flying! I also found some Mortarch Mannfred bits lying around so I've decided he is my interpretation of Prince Vhordrai. I love the lore of this doomed knight but never liked that his miniature is just an unhelmed vampire lord. I think my conversion does him a bit more justice.

    Behold:

Currently I have a little helper holding him up and it will likely need more than a few more layers of glue hold properly.  The spirit host will grow up in height along with sculpted flames to hide the overflow of glue. I am also quite scared about adding the weight of the wings but that's a later concern :D

I am really happy with the look so far, what do you guys think?

I really like it, although I have to say it looks, ah, well, ya know... But hey you could prolly use it in a nurgle army at this point in time. I can't wait to see the flames sculpted.

Can you believe I only heard about TGA a few days ago?

Well, once I did, I (somewhat) immeditely headed on over to sign up.

I'll be slowly but surely building a few armies:

    • Stormcast (Yeah, I know!)
    • Nighthaunt
    • Tzeentch (Daemons and Such)
    • Kharadron Overlords
    • Gloomspite Gitz

And I can see myself eventually getting a Slaanesh Daemon army going too...

Anyway, glad to be here - better late than never, right? :)

Wait, if your Alpharius, I can't be Alpharius!?  All jokes aside, welcome to the community.

The old book didnt have them all, at the front end were some sketches of the ports, but only Nar, Zilfin, Zon and urbaz had ships in theirs. Mhornar and Thryng didnt have any.

I dont know of any official images of Thryng ships. Id just do top half of the hull bone, bottom half red which is what most have done looking around online.

The balloon seems to be mostly the white with gold details, as opposed to the other way around.

    The Stone Shaper Wardens

Duardin well versed in earthly magics, they shape the ground around them, allowing them to move rapidly across the battlefield and launch rocks at incredible speeds towards those who seek to harm their realm. After battles they would seek to repair the damaged earth of the battlefield, by their or the enemies doing.

  17. I am just continuing to work on my mixed Duardin force, get my KO up a little more and then really push the Fyreslayers. I pledge a gunhauler for this month, it's already halfway done, let's see how far I can take it. I will upload the pic in an hour or two, just the Endrin (were halfway through the month after all, and I have to paint a Magmadroth if I don't want to fail my Contract)

Finally got my pic, forgot just a tiny bit:
