It’s an interesting question and it might be the case. I played a game against ironjawz on Friday and my opponent had mentioned some of his units got their movement reduced by an inch or two.

I thought the idea with the smaller board size was to make the games quicker so if they turn around and make everyone slower I would just question what was the point then

I always heard that the idea was to make the game better fit the size of an average kitchen table.

Easy solution,i wont buy any dragon so gw gonna learn to not destroy a unit before being released

I mean they are still a flying battleline monster with 18 wounds a 3+, that puts out a ton of rend damage plus a few auto kills and a once per game hero phase move and charge. And they still have built in spell resistance and mortal wound barfing.

Even at this new cost, they are still very strong, put many other monsters in the same weight class to shame, and will certainly see competative play.

Yeah of course, it just depends, Belladamma is certainly not underutilised though, she's almost always in if I can fit her!

I'm not too keen on the Vampire Lord myself, not having the bodyguard mechanic is tough when you only have 5 wounds, too easy to remove at range in my opinion, of which there is far too much. Really a wasted potential model in my opinion, would have loved something to match the lore better.

Not to mention being the only caster I can think of without a warscroll spell. Not helped by how poor the lore of vampires is.

He has a pretty killer command ability. But pretty much every single other thing about him is disappointing.

    Quick rules question:

If I'm playing Scions and I have say 5 units in deepstrike, and 5 in a unified battalion to place on the table, do I still have to go back and forth with the opponent in drops even with the deepstrike units or would I one drop my battalion and then say the rest is in reserve in order to have a one drop?

Each reserve unit outside a 1 drop battalion is it's own separate drop.

So if you have 5 units outside a battalion and 5 in a one drop battalion, your list is 6 drops, regardless of which units are in reserve and which are not.

  5. Went to a GT this past weekend at the Crucible in Florida. Took 7th overall and won best the prize for best Destruction.

    My list was:

    Allegiance: Ogor Mawtribes

    - Mawtribe: Boulderhead

    - Grand Strategy: Beast Master

    LEADERS

    Frostlord on Stonehorn (430)

    - General

    - Command Trait: Lord of Beasts

    - Artefact: Brand of the Svard

    - Mount Trait: Metalcruncher

    Frostlord on Stonehorn (430)

    - Mount Trait: Black Clatterhorn

    Huskard on Stonehorn (340)*

    - Blood Vulture

    - Mount Trait: Old Granitetooth

    UNITS

    2 x Mournfang Pack (160)*

    - Culling Clubs or Prey Hackers with Iron Fists

    4 x Mournfang Pack (320)*

    - Gargant Hackers

    BEHEMOTHS

    Stonehorn Beastriders (320)*

    - Weapon: Blood Vulture

    - Ogor Mawtribes Battleline (Beastclaw Raiders General)

    CORE BATTALIONS

    *Battle Regiment

    TOTAL: 2000/2000 WOUNDS: 86

1st round was a loss against a Stormcast list with archer bunker (TO said they could buy the double shoot holy command twice), and teleport + move evo cats. I failed 6 charges in a row, which lost me the game.

2nd match was against an all troll gloomspite list. Was a fun brawl, but me getting turn 2 double turn sealed it. 1st win.

3rd game was against a triple wind spirit elf army with 30 archers. Lost a stone horn immediately, and lost most of my movement by the wind spirits parking in my path (who then obviously moved away before I could retaliate). I could have turned the game around with a win on the priority roll on turn 2 or 3, but it did not happen. My Frostlord made it into the archer bunker at the end of turn 3, but I rolled super poorly and only killed 15 of them over 2 rounds of combat. Loss for me.

4th game was against a super defensive Bonereaper army. My list and the mission forced him on offense. He conceded at the end of turn 2.

Last game was against an Ironjawz army. I crashed into him hard at the end of turn 1, wiping out two ard boy and 2 boar boy units. This left him with only one more of each, his support characters, and a mawcrusher. The first objective spawned on top of three of my stonehorns, and then I won priority. He conceded before the 2nd turn even started.

  6. So for my first 3rd edition list, I am thinking:

    Hammers of Sigmar

    Lord Imperitant

    Lord Relictor

    Knight Incantor

    5x Vindicators

    5x Vindicators

    10x Judicators

    4x Fulminators

    3x Palladors

And at that point I can either take a 2nd unit of Palladors, or a unit of Concussors.

I think Hunters and Palladors have a lot of promise this edition and are being slept on. They don't have the raw damage or durability of other units, but the utility and potential trickery seems huge.

Rending shooting and melee (rend 2 on the palladors). Both potential battleline, with Hunters being redeemer. And all those free teleports.

I really don't like terrain GW produces for Age of Sigmar. Ruins. Half of a wall here, a column there. Can't they just make normal houses , saw mills, small temples, taverns. The only universal terrain I really liked was the Sigmarite Mausoleum (which I bought). I think a lot of people are waiting for "normal" terrain. If GW won't release anything in that taste I will have to search other publishers.

And the Sigmarite Mausoleum is actually a reprint of a WFB kit that was originally the Garden of Morr. XD

I really don't want to come off as rude, so please don't take it that way, but can you explain that a little bit more? I mean they did exactly that with LRL, OBR, heck, Primaris across the board? GW making new sculpts more powerful on the board to sell more of them... that is basically what their business model is built around. After a few months after everyone has bought the new hotness the FAQ or eratta something and they drop in power a bit, and then it is off to the races on something new. The only time I can recall something totally new coming out that was not amazing was the STD start collecting box with the rules for Chaos Knights.
Again not trying to be a ******, but can you tell me how that is debunked? Honestly asking.

Necron Monolith, the reanimator drone, dominion towers, ophydeon destroyers, flayed ones, psycomancer, are all bad units with new sculpts from necrons, in addition to several other meh ones.

In Soulblight, we have the wight king, the and the cursed city characters. And fell bats feel half baked.

    Nighthaunt... just most of nighthaunt.

Castigators and palladors were never great.

    Ogre Tyrant

Most things that are not an Eel in Idoneth.

Those are just off the top of my head.

  9. Gluttons are just in a really weird spot with the new coherency rules, combined with the fact that they don't get command options (where most of their rules and abilities come from) until they are at 6 man. Its going to be hard to justify taking them at all over Ironguts (get full command at 4 models, and have 2" reach for larger units), Leadbelchers (come in 2s, likely 4s in the new update, and contribute during the shooting phase while hitting harder in melee than gluttons without command), Mournfangs (can be run in 2s or 4s with full command, and hit harder than comparable gluttons without command).

Gluttons are just in an odd spot. They either need command options in a 3 man unit, 2" reach, or to be made into minimum 6 with a significant points decrease.

On a more serious note does anyone have nay recommendations for metallic reds? Don't really like GW's non metallic armor on the blood knights.

Painting one of thier contrast paints over a metallic base can create a nice colored metal. I am doing my Necrons with a base of stormhost silver on black primer, followed by Warp Lightning Contrast. This is the result:

To my knowledge though, no underworlds model have an AoS warscroll card printed from GW (other than the rules posted on the website) is that right?

My Tzeentch, Khorne, and Stormcast warscroll sets came with physical warscrolls for underworlds bands.

I don't think we will see customizable Vamps. Sadly. Because no army out there has any customisation (to my knowledge) that goes beyond a Warlord Trait, Artefact and maybe some bonus ability gained from their subculture. Worse yet that often a specific WT and artefact MUST be taken if you take clan/bloodline/subculte XY.

I just hope that the bloodlines will get cool and good abilities without an autotake that trumphes all others.

Also I agree that Vamps should get stronger. Bump their points a bit and make them melee powerhouses. Hopefully GW will move away from giving every melee hero the same "3+ 3+ -1 D3 Dmg" statline. The Freeguild guy has it, my Loonboss has it, the Khorne Lord has it, our Vamps have it. Differentiate them!

Mount traits are a level of customisation that some armies have so there's that. It's not wild to think that we could get vampire powers.

GW just needs to pick one of those and go with it. Either give us extra levels of customisation or make the vampire lord warscroll stronger. Either is a fine path to take but staying as is would be disappointing.

Ogre Tyrants get to pick a Big Name that gives them a stat boost or extra rule in addition to normal things,

So SCE will undergo a transision to smaller, more elite armies ?

I would love that personally. Lore wise they seem like they should be the AoS equivalent of Adeptus Custodes on the table. Weird seeing blocks of 20-30 man units on 40mm bases.

Their hardbacks are overpriced, contain about 10 pages of rules and 60 pages of story, and 30 pages of photographs. You 'd think they could squeeze in the rules for a few more models.

They do actually include warband warscrolls in recent battletomes. That has not made them any less poor though.

    5 hours ago, AaronWilson said:

I can understand why, if they were to be publishing very strong warscrolls in things like Cursed City, Blackstone Fortresss etc it would very frustrating for people who need to target single models from those larger boxes.

Which is why they could just pack those models separately eventually like they did with half of silver tower, the underworlds warbands, and Indomitus.

I think GW is in a bit of a pickle here. If they make these guys fieldable on their own, and good enough that someone actually wants to take them, as it is you're already asking people to buy a high priced box to get them. Then, what do they do in 3 years when the box is no longer available? They can't release the models individually because of the way the sprues are designed. Best they could do is sell a Gobapallooza style box with a bunch of them together.

They did it within the past year with Necrons and Space Marines from Indomitus, I would be all for it here too.

I would be for it in general going forward.

This is something I find very unfortunate. I want to expand my horizons and get into more games and settings, but so many are just GW product but less interesting. At least the silver lining to it is that it is drawing me more and more to try and make my own game and setting.

Malifaux, Infinity, and The Other Side are all very unique and fun games that completely do thier own thing. Mechanically, model wise, and setting wise.

Malifaux and TOS don't even use dice (a poker deck instead).
