  1. The 1 dimensional thing definitely exist. In fact its a double bind where any that expands their lore is seen as blasphemy and anything that fits their lore is boring and more of the same.

If you only want to view things in a negative light thats all your ever going to see.

I really can't get excited about this tome :(

To me it seems to be a case of:
"Current Khorne players already have the models they need; how do we get them to fork out?"
"I know! We'll give them Endless Spells Prayers.  Then they have to by the models"
"Oh and a battletome of course"

Because these changes are definiltey aimed at the current crop of Khorne players, cause they aren't going to get many new ones, by God.

Why would anyone want to pick these guys up now?

They've totally lost their identity for mine 😕

Actually this could be a good thing. The biggest complaint i hear about Khorne is how 1 dimensional the lore is. I think these new prayers and stuff could expand them lorewise in new interesting directions.

BTW does anyone know when summoning occurs? If it was moved to hero phase that would be huge buff.

New to Blades of Khorne. Two quick noob questions:

What weapons are better on Blood Reavers? I feel like the blades are because the Reavers arent really meant for busting heavy armor, but rather taking out other chaff and bearing people on number attacks. What's everyone else opinion, especially with the new rules?

If you have a unit of 20 reavers do the hornblowers and icon bearers stack?

Command units dont stack. The Meatrippers are usually better... The quicker you can kill anything = better. But there are cases where blades are better cuz your facing someone who ignores rend.

So the Hexgorger Skulls are very dependent on you going first in the round unfortunately. If you go second then at best, with a slaughtpriest nearby, you have a 1 in 3 chance of it having any effect on enemy spell casting.

That is a feature not bug.

Again, Heraldor is meaner, and he does not even need to roll for his abilities (run+retreat+charge or hornblast), and the hornblast happens after movement. Bloodboil is fine, especially in an army that lacks a noteworthy shooting phase.

Heralder is not a priest but yeah its nasty.

But i thought there was a caveat added that the prayers you choose from book only got 1 "casting" attempt now... I would assume that carries over to blood boil as well.

You are correct, missed that part. So yes you can reroll them, but no they are not limited to once per turn (as "prayer" does still not have an in game definition or limitation outside the specific abilities that mention it).

You had me really scratching my head there.

Yeah i thought for sure BB spam was gonna get a nerf. Especially with alter... Wierd.

I guess we got a free pass there and in fact a boost now we're not limited to Gore Pilgrims to torment our enemies backfield and nuke monsters and hordes.

    Edit: typo

Prayer is not a game term. It is a player term used to describe a set of similar Abilities (they very much are abilities, which is why they are listed as such on the warscrolls that have them, only mentioning prayer in flavor text, or ability name), that happen in the hero phase, require a roll to function, and are fluffwise described as prayers.

EVERY other priest unit in the game can use their warscroll "prayers" multiple times (provided multiple priests), Bloodsecrators are no different.

yes, both blessing of khorne and slaughter priest prayers are worded as prayers, and the altar lets you reroll prayers and judgements

    🤔

Ya, Blood Boil is not limited to once per turn. No on-warscroll ability in the game is limited, unless the warscroll specifically says it is. The only universal thing in the game with a once per turn limits is Magic.

Its a " prayer" not an ability in the same way magic is a "spell" not an ability. It could see a rule of 1. I hope i am wrong tho.

I don't see on the priest's new warscroll where blood boil would be limited. I had heard judgements and blood blessings were but not the bloodfuelled ones.

Yeah i havnt gotten to the bottom of this yet... I could be wrong.

  10. Ya but BB was unreliable and won a lot of games.

I agree this new army is gonna be CP hungry which makes the whole trade one blood tithe for one CP thing such a letdown. No matter how much BT you it cost all of it to get one CP... Not a good deal and very situational.

Can you elaborate on why you think they are good?

Im not an expert and mostly only play mortals. What i see is that Gore Pilgrims was best mortal battalion arguably for the rerollable prayers. It seems Blood Boil can only be used once per turn now? So we got altar and Judgments which pretty much take BBs place as a way to sling mortal wounds into enemy's backfield. The Skull things also make up for the Secrators reduced AoE when fighting magic heavy armies and the Icon thing wich is a bravery bomb as a way to compensate for our loss of battleshock immunity.

  12. It seems like they are forcing these Judgments on us to be competitive. So we have to buy them along with book and terrain. In fact thata exactly what it is,  which i get it, they run a business... But this stuff is like shoehorned in and its a straight up power move on GW part... No finess. Doesn't feel good man.

I just hope that after they sell their quota of alters and "not spells" we can get the book we deserve and our infantry rules is worthy of their fluff.

With that aside it seems like this army is gonna take a lot more thinking and strategy to win games than before. Which it can, and will. I think this is just a hump to get over and down the road this will all get straightend out.

  13. Alot of incarcerations of this army seem like command point pigs. If you can only buy 1 CP with BT then lose rest of BT it is going to be a let down and rather useless thing. Especially if you have to make this choice in hero phase before you know or not you need the CP.

  14. So i was looking at warscroll for Slaughterbrute cuz i love this huy. Not great at killing big stuff but can tie them up for awhile and is pretty cheap. Unfortunately due to changes in Stokers warscroll you can no longer whip the big guy. This is a sad day for my favorite duo. The Secrator however does still buff h brute nicely.

  15. I fail blood sacrifice inflict d3 mortal wounds and still die.

Joking aside i don't like the juggernaut models either and i sure ain't running out to buy any to fix my already bloated army now.  But i plan to give this new book a shot.

I see potential in these judgments. Im gonna start with the most skull axe icon spammy list i can make, hope they get dispelled so i can reload and fire them off every turn.

  16. I don't recall anyone jumping for joy when they announced new battletome. I thought most people already assumed it was probably not gonna be good news for an army that largely relied on pre 2.0 rules to be competitive.

I think regardless of what happens here that in the long run this book will bring Khorne in line with the future of AoS and down the road we will be better for it. Don't forget GHB 19 isn't far away.
