Running this on weds, undecided about whether to run block of 30 grave guard or as with this list, 20? Thinking is that getting turn one Vanhels off is pretty crucial if the black knights are gonna drop the beastly alpha this list is designed for them to do. So, corpse cart seems solid in that case. Or, dice the 6+ casting in exchange for a scarier blob of GG? Hmmm.

Nah, gamezone mournful knights are nice. Sticking with them. Until the sexy new kit comes out with the new soulblight pirate faction....

So basically call out GW if you don’t like it, not the people using it. But again on a personal note I do agree I wouldn’t have chosen to make it matched play. Because 1 it creates balancing problems and 2 to prevent said problems the mercenaries will be more limited.
Yeah, was having an especially salty day. No bad towards anyone that uses it, and that goes for anything and everything I say. Its aimed at Gdub. x

I'm stoked about the 40p drop on Blood Knights, although I fear a raise on the VLoZD. For more Soulblight things, the Bloodseeker Palanquin is in pretty desperate need of help and could use a good discount.
Same, this is HUGE for Soulblight and LoB. They are a decent unit way overpointed. Only issue is now I need to buy yet another 5 of Gamezones mournful knights, cos gw sculpts suck donkey balls and dragon princes painted red is so 90’s. Lol

Knights are summonable, that’s the big diff

More black knights x

Sure, point is simply that death shouldn’t have cannons. It’s their whole schtick. And the army, top down is designed and written with a degree of internal balance, which things like this mess with. Same with all the diff armies. This messes with an already very lopsided balance. Some armies are inherently weaker in a certain area, for good reason. Armies shouldn’t be all things to all people. Chose your frickin playstyle and play an army which suits it. Rather than bash square pegs into round holes for ‘narrative - cough - b o l l o x ‘ reasons. Sure. It will be grrrreeeeeaaat

+10 on Nagash on a 9+ is a terrifying threat. Every turn you make the casting, if it goes off 19” + 2d6 charge is mega. Orb is tooo swingy.
-
Yup, soup is bad. More armies being more like each other. You can paint and convert them however you like, but popular opinion is this has been death of 40k and similar feelings are true about effect on Malifaux. Keep armies distinct, that’s the joy of the game. Somethings should be worse at something’s and others better at others. Providing patches for everyone is lame sauce, IMO.

I’d sack off orb and take Pinions, and take Balefire Lantern. That item is a total workhorse. Stick it vamp lord and fly him around with Nagash, pain in the ass.

1) Correct them gently. Each time a roll with no statement of what it is or for is done. Politely ask them what it was for and demand they reroll it and state what it is truly for. If they do not state it before rolling. There is no way for them to argue with this. Your opponent has to be aware of whats going on, even if it is not his turn. This is a great practice yourself as well and helps you become a more methodical gamer. It will also greatly cut down on misdirection or cheating by claiming the roll is for something else.
2) If something sounds fishy. Look up the warscroll yourself and correct it again. Loudly. Some people forget stuff and are not always malicious about it. This individual sounds like he does. Calling it out loudly and bringing attention to him, even if it makes you uncomfortable, should shame him into mostly playing by the rules.
3) buy a 3" movement widget and lend it to him for each of his/her pile in's. harder to cheat with one of those and extremely useful in and of itself.
4) Nuclear option: Stop playing with him completely. Do not publicly lambaste him but if people ask why you don't engage with him be blunt about it. You do not want to make more enemies by being an ****** yourself.
Quite frankly. I have played with a lot of unpleasant individuals don't often end up at option 4. But, I would still give the benefit of the doubt and try 1-3. If public shaming doesn't get through, exclusion might.
This in spades.
Bottom line is, they are a gamer as all we are. They want the play the game, but they are clearly not well schooled in etiquette. As someone who has a brother with paranoid schizophrenia, I know just how hard it is to deal with or watch others deal with someone who is inherently hard to get on with. This is a bit of a tangent, but point is, tolerance, rising above it, politely educating them. Messaging them privately to offer support, assistance, tuition etc. Run a back to basics club night where everyone is run through the basics. Thing is, this ISN'T taught, it’s herd mentality, we all know it because for the most part we are well adjusted people who fit into a community. This person is clearly having a tough time as is, and they probably want more than anything to fit in. They’re guard is up, understandably, being trans in this day and age is ****** tough, like something we can’t possibly understand unless we’ve been through it. So, perhaps, as a community (and btw I’m not saying your not doing this already) we need to accept a more diverse player base, and with that accept that some of these people might not come with the tacit knowledge we all do. And again, that ****** really isn’t taught anywhere, it’s certainly not in the books. Also this kind of play etiquette is something most of us pick up at school, even just through mucking about as lads or girls. Moving from one dominant gendered community to another might reduce what little experience someone has of ‘playing fair’ to ****** all. Again, I’m not preaching. Just saying, we as the custodians and gatekeepers of this proud hobby and community need to go above and beyond sometimes. After all, weren’t we all the odd one out at one point or another? Like I say, run a club etiquette night / print off a flyer with this on / send round a whatsapp pdf etc. Make what is tacit, explicit and you’ll probably find you all become best mates. X

Well, they do say each of the grand alliances is getting another time this year... so my money is on Soulblight getting a re-vamp.
Abhorash or Vlad would be dope. But tbh, what the list needs is a completely new model line apart from existing heroes. We’re also in need of at least a few more battleline options, either in the form of moving existing things about OR in the form of some footsloggers - vamps on foot, thralls, enforced minions etc.
Quietly optimistic bout this year’s death wave continuing.
-
Yeah, not sure I hold out much hope for them going forwards. If they dropped points on booodknights and made vargheists battleline I’d be chuffed.

Played Blisterkin three times now, amazing.
Cant go far wrong with variants of list Veal ran at Heat 1. Also works well with less flayers and ZD. The redeploy, +2 movement and cps on a 4+ is tops.
GKoTG - bite mount trait, monstrous spell
Regent - spectral host
GK - deranged transformation
2 x flayer courtiers
deadwatch 6, 6, 3 flayers
Chalice

Gonna give this version a run next week.
Allegiance: Legion of Blood
Mortal Realm: Shyish
Vampire Lord (140)
- General
- Mount: Flying Horror
- Trait: Aristocracy of Blood
- Artefact: Ethereal Amulet
- Lore of the Vampires: Vile Transference
Necromancer (110)
- Lore of the Deathmages: Overwhelming Dread
Tomb Banshee (80)
Tomb Banshee (80)
10 x Dire Wolves (120)
10 x Dire Wolves (120)
5 x Dire Wolves (60)
10 x Black Knights (240)
5 x Blood Knights (240)
5 x Blood Knights (240)
5 x Blood Knights (240)
2 x Bat Swarms (80)
Mortis Engine (180)
Emerald Lifeswarm (60)
Total: 1990 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 155Reckon the black knights will still be pretty hitty with 10, lost 5 wolves which is fine, dropped WK too... which might be too much.
BUT in exchange, running a bat swarm for -1 shooting (keep VL alive), life swarm (cos blood knights are a pain to heal, and this is the only way you can bring whole models back admittedly on a 5+) and bringing two banshees. I've not really made use of these in AoS2, but with LoB, blood knights and overwhelming dread your looking at -3 to -4 bravery without much hassle. These little sisters make a nice body guard for the ethereal VL. Also figured having a couple of extra characters for holding objectives isn't a bad idea.
Wish me luck!

You also get rinsed on certain scenarios where you have to hold objectives with heroes. Owch.

stolen from @warhammernerd in the SB/LoB threat.
interesting with only the small vampire, also blackknights and all the wolves...
Yeah it's actually helluva fun list, and hits like a steam train. It's all about keeping the vamp lord (preferably flying horror for lower profile) alive long enough to summon back the black knights at least once. I suspect if someone really wanted to they could find ways to nuke him, but as 5 wound heroes goes he's pretty tanky. 3+ in cover, with a 6++ minion save and d6 wound heal once per game. Undecided on whether its best to give him ignax for protection against spell mortals (he should be out of sight from MW shooting attacks for at least turn 1), ethereal to make him a bit more survivable after turn 1 or... as I did recently, give him the enchanted orb. Fly him up behind blood knights, either sat directly behind mortis engine (basically flying terrain) or within a wolf bubble. If your opponent forgets he has this item (likely will do as a result of staring down barrel of 15 blood knights), and flys a big beastly hero in the look on their face when you reveal it is golden. Or use him in tandem with blood knights to assassinate a big hero. If he dies next turn it doesn't matter. It's all about delivering the blood knights.
Wolves are absolutely golden in this list.
If I was to change anything, it might be to drop the black knights down to 10 and throw in a bat swarm (to add further protection to lord) plus an endless such as cogs. My thinking behind reducing the BK unit size, is that ideally you want them to bomb in with buff from VL and WK and if poss Vanhels and do a ton of damage (10 are rolling 40 dice, 3's and 3's 2 damage, plus 40 horses... TWICE), and then die. Then you can summon them back next turn. At 15, its quite likely they wont die in a turn and this creates the problem of VL being in right place a turn later for summoning.
So, it's not the easiest list to use, and its hardly a power list. But the look on peoples faces when you drop 157 wounds with move 10" to 12" is great. So many bodies and great board control.
Just keep you VL protected!

My 10 pence worth,
- swift death
- necromantic
- dragon warriors
- legion of night
Do the following and the list might be diff.
Dragon warriors, re-roll 1’s on hits and wounds when charging.
Necromatic, +2 to cast
Legion of night, keep it to 6” but boost minions to 5++
Swift death, stay as is - it’s roughly on par with the above.

Yeah the CP drop at beginning does leave you a little wanting. Perhaps use aetherquartz brooch? Seems a shame to write of deathmarch cos of the new CP limitations.
Re running dogs, canny with this list if you want low drop and batallion to get turn one charge. VLoZD provides some much needed rend as does the GG blob.
But yeah, it’s not ideal.
