    Sure thing.

To elaborate a bit more, Stabbas units with pokin-spears are easily the clear choice if you are planning to use your grot units offensively.  If you want grots to fight and kill things then you need weight of attacks and pokin-spears can fight 3 models deep - which allows you to fight with bigger units.  But grots in general are terrible in a fight until you lean into the build and start dropping buffs all over them (those buffs can change things immensely).  So, if you are not building around buffing grots units, and you are not looking to field max size units where the cost discount for stabbas vs shootas matters, then the units are fairly interchangeable.  The shootas are slightly worse in a fight, but also have bows (which are fairly terrible).  But even though the bows are fairly bad and unlikely to do much, I would still rather have them on a unit that is not really intended to get into a fight much or is included for

Thank you sir.  Ive been using spiders up to this point so have gotten used to rolling dice for no reason for my bows.  That said, i did for wounds to kill a treelord last game....so somethings those extra wounds add up...

The internet hates all sorts of things.

Shootas seem like a fine, if not exciting, choice in a number of circumstances.  If you are fielding small units of grots then I would probably always go with shootas since the cost is the same.  And if the main use of a unit is to go camp on an objective then you might as well go for Shootas as well.  They won't usually do a whole lot with the bows, but they may on occasion  be of good use.

Another case where i have models painted so might as well try them out....your opinion is appreciated...

Giants are one of those love or hate units.  People are pretty divided over the guy and not many people seem to be in the middle.  I really like the Giant and for his cost I think his negatives are not as bad as people claim.  But that is simply my opinion.  I would recommend trying him out in a couple of games and then deciding if you like him or not.  If you already have one painted then it should be easy.

I have one painted and he has been on my beasts of chaos list a few times (a painted old metal one rebased).  I think for his points he does fine....so whiffs and some good games...just like lots of units for this points cost.  Of course you get to whip the chaos one which is nice....

A large part is what I have painted haha.

For the shooters yep that's exactly how I would use them.

So yeah sorry there's not more nuance to the list, it's about minimising what I have to paint...

And i thought you had crazy, strategic pland for those models...lol...

Totally fair....ive been wanting to try a giant out as i have one painted...and think he might be a solid value for his potential...despite being unreliable...

I'm hoping I can get a 2k gloomspite force together for the throne of skulls. So far it's looking like

So i like a lot of thinga about this list but have some questions:

What spells for your 2 casters?  I assume hand of gork for one...

What role do you see for mollog and the giant?  It seems like some more goblins to recyle and hold objectives might be useful...of course id prefer the 2 big guys from a troll list perspective  but wanted to ask the question.

How about the shootas?  Home objective holders?  It seems the internet hates the shootas so interested in your take...i like the idea that my cheap obejective holding models can shoot...

I guess that depends what kind of oppositions you're expecting.  I've been using the dankhold troggboss with ghyrstrike a few times now and the friend I played against doesn't like it very much after a few games. played against fyreslayers, beasts of chaos and sylvaneth/wanderers.

Thank you sir...thats some good context.  I will be ready for March with 1000 points of trolls and hoping they are fun to play and give me a chance to win some games....

The hag is ridiculously hard to kill. If be more worried about losing the troggboss. If still go killy on him, you need to cut down your opponents model counts to score anything.

Thank you.  I agree....i dont have the models to take objectives and i so need to remove as many as i can as fast as i can.  Ive been playing all spiders to this point and will enjoy something completely different....

  8. So i am in a slow grow league and we are up to 1000 points next month.  I am going to run an 8 model troll list that was suggested on these forums for fun...

    Troggboss

    3 rockguts

    3 fellwater

    Troggoth Hag

I was originally going to run the mighty blow command trait and Ghyrstrike on the boss to make him as killy as possible.   As lossing models will be more killer for this list as i only have 8 models, i was wondering if i should go for a more defensive artefact.  Just wondering what people think and how worried should I be about people killing my Hag too soon...

For me skaven codex will not be competitive in hight level, exept for mass control.

    my first try:

    Thanquol 400

    2x archloch 200

    gnawlord 100

    Deceveir 300

    40/40/20 rats 520

    2x cannons 360

    Warp Lightning Vortex 100

    1980

Thanquol is master piece, enought hp to use flamers, use control spell (halve mov) and summon lightning to block ennemy forces.

arloch with cannons use Gnawholes to snipe hight value target.

Rats score objs, Deceveir help control.

I like this list for the models and the need for 100 clan rats...balancing pretty big models with the footsloggers to hold the line and objectives.

I might swap the cannon(s) and some of the cheaper heros for other guns...based on the models i have and not because they are more useful.

I honestly don’t really know.  However, I do feel that a Troll Hag is going to be pretty rough to deal with in a low point game.  The Troggboss can be very nasty as well once you add in a relic (although you can opt to give a relic to the Hag) and command trait.  Trolls are trolls and both types are good depending on what you are trying to do.  Fellwater are more offensive and rockbiter are a bit tougher.

I bet this would do fairly well and it only has 8 models!

Thank you...i appreciate your thoughts...i'm working on my trolls right now and may give this a go...no matter how it goes having only 8 models seems fun...

    Troggboss

    3x Trolls - pick a flavor

    3x Trolls - pick a flavor

    Troggoth Hag

    1000 points

Is this strong at 1000?  I play fluffy mostly but i have a buddy who is pretty competitive and would like to have a chance against him...this feels fluffy and if its competitive even better...

Spider riders are good, but at the end of the day, they’re light cavalry. Any sort of real oomph they provide you is a bonus.

Thank you sir.  Very helpful.  I think the scuttleboss will deminish usefulness as people figure out how scary he can be and how easily he dies.

I also need to remember the spiders are light cavalry...i think that is a good perspective to have and not use them in the wrong way.

I was thinking something similar for a list but would think 40 grots are better than 2 x 20.

  13. What spells were you running?  Was your scuttleboss the wrecker i think he is?  Did your skitterstrand earn their points?

Who do you feel was the star(s) of this list.  Im 1-2 in a slow grow league...and i too am struggling with the finese side...different than my daughters of khaine who just run up and charge...
