I’ve been reading the rules as uniques don’t get enhancements, that includes spells, which are considered to be an enhancement. Happy to be wrong though, we have kroak in another army we own

Correct; unique characters do not get access to the universal spell lores/enhancements however thanks to the FaQ unique characters do get access to the spell lore of their faction.

    Hey,

the Gaunt is not that good anymore because he just summons 5 pinks now.

That means you only get 107,5 points back. I would cut him an play a changecaster.🤷🏼‍♂️

I disagree, they need the Gaunt because it is a 2 cast wizard and they need 9 spells to get the fate pts for the LoC. If anything the list needs more casting to reliably hit 9 by turn 2.

  4. To stop cheaper battleine options from being available to other armies and prevent non-battletome leader choices from becoming the General.

Coalition allows for players to create a more "classic" looking Chaos army without rules writers having to balance those units in line with all the Chaos armies is my guess.

Just starting back into AOS for the new edition and I am a little confused how you got a single StoD coalition unit or is he not MOK?

I read the  FAQ as  2 in every 4 units in the army can be a coalition unit from the Slaves to Darkness faction that has the MOK keyword. (I may be overthinking it to be honest)

I am having real trouble find a fourth coalition StoD unit so I can fit 2 units of Chaos Knights and a Daemon Prince in.

You won't need a 4th but you will need at least 5 units from the Khorne Battletome to make the list legal. Think of list building as batches of 4. In a batch of 4, 2 units can be StD, but the remaining units in that batch must be from the Khorne Battletome. So from your list above you could have:

    Chaos Knights x 2 (StD)

    Slaughterpriest x 2 (Khorne)

    Batch of 4.

    Daemon Prince (StD)

    Bloodthirster (Khorne)

    Blood warriors (Khorne)

    Flesh hounds (Khorne)

    Batch of 4.

    This is a bit sad:

A Blades of Khorne army can include coalition units (see below) as follows:

    - 2 in every 4 units in the army can be a coalition unit from the Slaves to Darkness faction that has the Mark of Chaos keyword. Those units must be given the Khorne Mark of Chaos keyword.

    - 1 in every 4 units in the army can be a coalition unit from the Beasts of Chaos faction. Those units gain the Khorne keyword.

A Blades of Khorne army cannot include coalition units with the Slaanesh, Tzeentch or Wizard keyword.

COALITION UNITS Coalition units are ignored when determining if the units in the army are from a single faction. Coalition units cannot be generals. Designer’s Note: Coalition units are not allied units, so the limitations that apply to allied units do not apply to them. This means that coalition units can be given one of your army’s enhancements, as long as they have the correct keywords or are of the correct unit type needed to receive it.

Similar text is there for Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Nurgle.

This is a few nerfs for people like me who have a core of Slaves units, but also used them for various god factions.  No more Karkadrak's leading a Blades of Khorne army, and I also can't just take my slaves to darkness units, toss in a bloodthirster or two and put it under the Khorne banner.

That being said, nothing here talking about Coalition units says that they can't be your battleline, so unless that is stated somewhere else in the rules (that I can't find at the moment) you should be able to take some blocks of chaos warriors/marauders as your battleline for the various god factions, filling out the rest with the various cool units from their armies.

It is stated in the matched play rules I believe that coalition units do not count as battleline

  7. Check out Bulldoghammer on YouTube as their main Tzeentch player runs Archaon and they do explain why they do the moves they do so it provides a good insight (they actually inspired me to pick up a Tzeentch list!)

Just purely thinking about the models, is anyone else concerned that they might be monopose? Specifically thinking about the Myrmidesh/Symbaresh and the Slaangor. I'm not sure from looking at the photos that there will be any assembly options. It might work if the Myrmidesh/Symbaresh are intended to be small elite units...

The legs are the same on both units so I suspect they are like the Skull Reaper/Wrath monger box, 10 bodies/arm options etc... but only 5 leg parts to make 5 complete models.

  9. @Agent of Chaos thanks for your response! As another Aspiring Champion of Khorne its great to read a collection of thoughts in one place!

Regarding Skullreapers. I have 10 of them; is it better to run them as 1 unit of 10 or 2 units of 5. Similarly I have 10 Wrathmongers, but I think they are best as 5s to spread the buffs around, would you agree?

Care to explain what you mean by this?

My guess is that he is referring to sub assembly painting. I imagine Vermin lords, Doomwheels and other crazy skaven models are best painted in parts before gluing together.

I also second pile of potential. It helped me realise that while I'd only painted 24% of my Slaves to Darkness army in terms of points i have actually painted 63% of the models (66 out of 104, damn Marauders almost broke me ) which gives me motivation to continue

I do like the sound of that and thanks for the help. Was planning on playing a list with the glottkin, sorcerer lord, marauders, warriors and a shrine

Glotkin is not a Slaves to Darkness Nurgle model so will not fit into the battalion

Sry for double post, but can´t edit, maybe for some new member reasons...

Btw the correct size of the lord of chaos base is 40mm, not 32mm. At least it is delivered with an additional 40mm round base.

The Dec. 2019 base size chart from GW lists the Lord of Chaos as 32mm

I didn't think the warshrine could do prayers on the bloodbound.

You are correct; Favour of the ruinous powers and Protection of the dark gods only work on Mortal StD units so those abilities won't work in units in this army (but would if Khorne marked StD units were added)

The War Shrine would get a blood blessing as it has the Priest Key word.
