  1. Really interesting comments here. For me it boils down to the following:

I'm really glad we have playtesters- the hobby seems (for me at least) getting more enjoyable every year with some great rule sets and armies being released- something for everyone I'd say, whatever style or taste. A big part of that is the time and effort GW have put in as well as the play testers themselves not to mention the community at large.

All the playtesters mentioned are all excellent players who spent years playing the hobby- this is what makes them great play testers as well as competitive players. I'd expect all the above names mentioned above to finish in the top standings regardless of whether they've playtestested a new book or not.

It's also playtesters hobby/passion and something they've invested a lot of (personal) time in despite working in other jobs/family commitments. I stress the time elements because this relates back to  one of the many reasons why they are successful players- they shouldn't be penalised for this in the tournament setting or ostracized for gaining an unfair advantage in the 'meta' - they've given time, thought and energy for the benefit of all.

It's an awsome dice game and you can be as experienced as you like, played all the armies under the sun new or old but if the dice fail you on the day then it doesnt matter playtesters or not. There should be some trust from the community that the people play testing are doing it for the benefit of all - again there should be no penalizing in  the tournament setting for this or ostrocising through social media outlets. Whilst I'm sure everyone wants to win ( I certainly do in the very few tournaments I enter!) the most important thing is that everyone has fun, meet some new people and have some awesome games with armies they love and not get too hung up on whether someone may/may not have a slight advantage because they've played a bit earlier with an army before its released. I stress that its about trust, trust that they're doing this for the community and we are all the better for it. If they play with an army I havent had chance to experience before  then that's a great challenge for any general as well as a great opportunity to pick the brains of an experienced player and hopefully you'll learn something about yourself and your army in the process.

Unfortunetaley if you know your 1 match up and you list tailering vs this. The spell in the bottle with the right endless spell is always an auto-include.

Makes me just a little bit sad not to have other even competetive choices :) and playing the WLV now for 3 games vs my friends I ve started to take it out of my list because it feels not very good in a friendly game 😅 if you know what I mean....

Just pay points for 2 endless spells competitively... and use the best one depending on match up

  3. Think I'm going to start paying points for 2 endless spells in my 'competitive' list (I know I can only use 1) for in spell in bottle- WL vortex and darkfire daemon rift .... will give tzeentch ,seraphon and lumineth players some interesting deployment choices as will potentially have to really spread out...or face mortal wound gate.

I'd reserve some of your shooting to infiltrate and snipe out his infantry casting heroes asap, even if it means stranding them, because it will pay large dividends over the course of the game to deny your opponent those extra casts.

I'd also try to absolutely obliterate the inevitable unit of birdboy disksurfers with extreme prejudice, because their damage output is absurd thanks to the 'Guided by the Past' ability. They are fragile though, and your Irondrakes will make short work of them. Don't be afraid to move your unit of 30 to get shots off if need be - you'll want to drop them as soon as you can, since they are the main workhorse of most Changehost armies. I'd expect 9 or more, supported by the caster birdboy on disk as well. If your opponent lets you infiltrate this unit and get shots off on them, you will handily take them off the table, but I'm going to assume your opponent knows about this kind of sneakiness.

The Lord of Change will get mowed down by your Hammerers, especially with Runelord support.

It will largely come down to deployments and whether your opponent knows how to deal with infiltrating ranged units that are so tough and shooty, like Irondrakes. If you don't position your hammerers well, you'll have trouble getting use out of them as your opponent's more mobile army flies around them shooting them with spells.

    Best of luck!

    Thank you!

  5. I think at the moment we are only seeing a fraction of the possibilities offered by the cities of sigmar book.  Whilst the discontinuation of the models is definitely sad, I do love the wealth of opportunities this book offers for dispossessed fans. The opportunity to convert hurricanum/ luminark of hysh by using old anvil of doom models for example to give us even more protection and to hit buffs really excites me in conjunction with rune lords. Furthermore, the possibility of using aethwings (lots of) , iron drakes and gortrek makes me extremely happy.   I'm also sure there will be specific battle traits for dispossessed general as well as artefacts of power that will further enhance us ....and just remember if you're feeling down...gortrek is back and better than ever...and we finally have a book!

  6. Still think there's a lot more to be revealed in the battletome. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic to be honest. Loving the fact I can run lots of irondrakes as battle line and  buff them with a ward save and extra rend. Think hammerers will be awesome. With gortrek and a few steam tanks, converted luminarks or hurricanums etc  or stormcast allies we'll be pretty awsome!
