  1. Hello again!

    Another question as always:

    Legion of blood command trait:
Swift Strikes: Each time you make a hit roll of 6+ in the combat phase for your general, you can make one additional hit roll for the same weapon against the same target.

What if an attack with your commander have frightfull touch? (Each time youmake a hit roll of +6 for ***, that attack inflicts X mortal wound instead of the normal damage. Do not make a wound or save roll.

Would all 6+ on that attack inflict mortal wounds and then i get another dice to roll and hit again? And that could inflict another mortal wound on a 6+? (And would i get another hit on that hit after hit on a 6+?)

Becauce giving for example the Coven Throne which has 25 attacks total, and 12 with frightful touch this command trait sounds kinda good.
Or giving her: Walking Death: If you roll a 6+ to Hit with one of your general's melee weapons, you deal mortal wounds equal to the weapon's Damage.

That together with an artifact that would give one of your attacks mortal wounds on +6, since it would stack from diffrent sources as far as i've been told on here.

Oh yeah the VL is great too :)

I both hate and love Ben's list. Shrieker Host is exceedingly powerful, but I think the list matches up poorly against the top end of the meta - Stormcast, Eels, Death and Sylvaneth. Ben clearly doesn't think so, though, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he gets on with this at masters (not the results, but how his games actually go, you can go 6-0 with a list and know it was luck or 0-6 with a list and still feel it's great).

Is there anywhere one can go to see these matches live? Are they broadcasted?

Or is there anywhere to see them recorded?

I'm surprised the VL ally didn't make it for you.

Also, has anyone looked at the list that Ben Savva is taking to UK Masters? It'a very interesting - I can't wait to see how it does.

    Oh?

Do you care to share his list on here?

If you can get one of each go ahead, but if you had to choose one then I would pick the skeleton horde. It has a lot more meta defining units in it than the latter, and you definitely need more skeletons.

The other isn't bad as it gives you options as well, they simply just aren't as popular.

Chainrasps or skeletons, which one is "better"?

I prefer rasos just because I can get them really cheap and they tend to live longer.

Pretty sure this is legit, the rules for spells state if successfully cast then pick a target in range. So you cast before measuring.

    Not really my question.

If he knows for sure that I'm 45+" away, but he just wants free faith points, can he just cast the spell without a target? And still get fp even when the spell dosent have a target.

Because it's successfully cast before you choose a target.

EDIT: ment Fate points. Not faith.

  6. Ok, quick question.

Can wizards cast arcane bolt without a target just to rank up easy faith points?

Like if you have +10 spells a turn, and turn 1 you're to far away from the enemy, could just cast all arcane bolt without a target to get the spell successfully cast, to get free fp?

    Seems fishy to me

Met a tzeentch player that did that in a noob in house "tournament" last week

EDIT: Ment Fate points, not faith.

  7. Love all the fast answers!

    Thanks guys!

Another question while I'm here, start collecting boxes are going up in price on the 4th of February.

    Which one should I choose?

Mainly my team right now is composed of nighthaunts, chainrasps and grims, still got enoughother death to play LoN.

Currently im looking into buying Skeleton hoard, just because it gives me all the mortarchs that I cab just magnetize to swap rider and a little unit of skelletons, and some more black knights/ hexwraiths.

On the other hand start collecting malignants gives me hexwraiths, another mortis engine / coven throne / palanquin. And 2 mortis engines in a LoN army dosent sound to bad.

    Got any tips or advice?

Of course no one remembers how bad an army is before they get their battletome, they are strong now so the past is invalid! *huff and puff*

To prevent going down the rabbit hole, I'll just say they are very well presented in the tournament scene and if not accounted for in other armies they can take a lot of wins, but they are by far not the only army that is playing really strong right now. Some might say a couple of armies in particular are stronger than even Death.

    Oh?
What armies are you talking about?

That's a long time from now so no one knows. If people keep complaining about how Death is too good then they might nerf them to the ground this year, which means they'll probably make a new boxset for them to balance the hate! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Jokes aside, you may get lucky and find an old box sitting around in a hobby store somewhere, but unless they happen to put it in store to get rid of some extra stock. Who knows.

Don't scare me with the nerf talk! I've just started playing death and i've heard how "bad" they were in aos 1.0 before Legion of Nagash, i don't want to go back 💔
On the other hand, yes currently death is really strong, isn't death top tier in recent tournaments?

Battleforce boxes are exclusive for the year they were released. The Blood Queen Battleforce box was released in 2017 and were only around when the box was available to order. Once the orders were made and stock ran out they removed it from the store.

Hmm, i can swear that it was avaible for order just in october/november last i checked.
I even think that one of my mates bought it not long ago.

Are there comming other Battleforces for 2019 then? For death i mean.

Sorry if this got asked already but with the Ethereal rule that ignores Save roll modifiers do our Nighthaunt units still get the bonus of cover (+1 Save)?

    Sadly no.

The rule specifies that both positive and negative modifiers to the save are ignored.

This is what I got as a reply:

Hey Karol! All but 2 of the of Start Collecting! sets will be affected by the change. The 2 sets that are not changing are - the Khorne Bloodbound Goreblade and the Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Brotherhood.

So this makes situation clear I assume, buy Death ASAP, with Khorne you can wait with one of the boxes listed above ;)

    Thanks so much!

Better empty my wallet this month then!

I don't know how much they'll up the prices but I'm not taking any chances

All bar the ones from first edition of AoS (Stormcast and Khorne). Got a reply on facebook page about it.

Is there a list somewhere? Sorry to be a bother, but I'm planning on buying death / khorne, and need to know which ones I can wait to buy

Someone mentioned it a few pages and days back. There was a thread made for it too.

Ah, do we know which start collecting that will have an increase, or is it all of them?

In the text they said "some" of the Start Collecting boxes but didn't specify which ones

This specifically is beast of chaos. You can get both DoT summoning and BoC summoning.

As for the rest of your post. I can't tell you have to beat every kind of DoT list you can make. Give a battle report for better advice and what list you or your friends are using.

The tzaangors on foot do hit hard, but like many other 32mm base sized units can only get about a max of 10 into combat. If hes baying 3 times the price for those 10 models attack you should do well of you play right and bring the tools to succeed. Any good hammer unit would just crish that 30 tzaangor block. Maybe not in a single turn, but 9 enlightend, 30 witch aevles (these could do it in a turn maybe), 20 evocators, 6-9 morrsarr guard, or qny other bug smashy unit your army has access too.  All of the above can eqsily kill 15+ models, and lose a relaticely small about on the counter swing. Each of those also cost quite a bit less than their target.

    Edit:

Also this game does have a skill element. I'm not saying your bad. I'm just daying your friend might also just be better at the game and he might be able to win with any competent list. A battle report with lists would be the best way to get help.

    Thanks for the help!

    No offense taken!

I've won 80+% of my games but that tzeentch player just gets me, I'm playing death, mostly nighthaunt and I don't really have a hard hitting unit like witchelves.

He's playing the Dot alligence, with the faith points, are you saying that he can summon in units from both or?

I still think that 10fp is cheap for such a unit like tzangoors on disks

Gonna send both our full lists later when I get home!

Thanks you for taking your time to help!

    1. fluff yay, high competitive meh/nay

    2. Dirty snowball necro dead...sad face panda. Big charge skimpy clad witches, poof goes the wall... cannon ball to the generals head, no more resummoning. If your opponent doesn’t know how to deal with your army and is not willing to adjust, he will suffer against any competent player. We have an ironjawz player at our local store who dominated till nobody wanted to play him anymore. I totally horde swamped his army with 110 ghouls and won the attrition war...

    3. kill the mage first, maybe legion of night with lord on Dragon or harbringers... or turtle up on the objectives score till fourth round, er wiped, win on points... arkhan is pretty good at banning, but his/tzeentch summoning based on all successfully cast spells, so answering with lords of sacrament (all of us get +1 spell to cast) is a bit counterproductive...

    Thanks for the tips!

But what if he just turtle up his wizards behind / in a horde of 30 tzangoors, can't cast spells against him and we don't have range lol

And to me morghast seems really strong, especially with GHoN giving them +1 attacks, and with 6hp each and 8 attacks +3+3-2 3d with their halberds seems really really strong, or is their something better for 220p in the meta? Just go full hoard with 40/40/ skeletons?

unbind 1 spell and he can't bring anything in. Fate pt summoning is one of the weakest mechanics in the game. Namely because there are only so many spells and only so many benefits to cast you can get. Out side of pink who get +2 to cast with LoC help, and LoC, and a Gaunt summoner who gets +2 with LoC help and throws 2 spells for cheap. You start getting taxed quickly.

Out side of the actual value of fate pt summoning. Theres the power of pink horror milling. Now that is some good value and very fast, for one spell you can get 3.5x2x#pink horror units worth of blue horror pts. Then get a bunch of free battle shock rolls to try to get more free pinks.  To stop this it's about board control. Fast armies that can get on an enemy unit turn 1 are where it's at.  Charging and locking down the table can very quickly and easily hamper summoning.  In this case the most dangerous summoning army DoT can muster is Multi-horde.

While this army has numbers the punch is rather muted and it's punch is only as strong as the endless spells you manage to cram into the list. Which compared to witch elves/enlightend/morrsarr/evocators just isn't enough damage out put to be reliable.  As such a rather tanky or hrode army that can also move quickly will win on objectives alone.

He currently has an LoC and a tzangoor shaman on disk and a curseling , and he's planing on buying some more wizards to get some battalion to get more spells and so on.

The army is mostly tzangoors and they hit way to hard, they have like 4-5 attacks each with an +3+2~ when they are near an acolyte hero and yadayada, they seem really strong for the price and points?

Currently in our group of about 9 people he have only lost 1 game, and that was before he got the LoC.

The only one who has a chance is me with my GHoN death army, even then all the spells and attacks really hurt, and theres almost no way to get to his wizards, he just turtle them up behind his 30 tzangoors and acolytes...

Oh, and how is summoning a new unit of 3 tzangoors enlighted on disk or skyfires bad? That's 12wounds and a lot of attacks you could get to summon in at round 2/3

  18. Ok, so i have some questions:

    1.   Morghast Harbingers/Archai = Yay, nay or meh ?
    2.  Do you think "Endless Legion" and all out healing/ress is to strong? Just totaly crushed 3 matches yesterday, with the gravesites, Necromancer, vampire lord's, Legions Innumerable passive, "Master of Death command trait" and all other Deathly Invocation i would have, my unit with 30-40 chainrasps will never die, i just make a wall with them and attack over them with 2" attacks. A Beastclaw player did about 20+ damage against them, and after Deathless Minions 17 "died", big woop, my turn: d3 ress there, and a d3 ress there and take some more d3 ress from me oh and from him, don't forget the gravesites, and oh you're an 1 wound unit here take some more from Legions Innumerable, oh and did i say that i can reroll 1's when using Deathly Invocation?
Oh no you "killed" my unit with 10 Grimghasts, wolololo: (Endless Legion) They're back just like that!
Sorry to rant, but i couldn't stop feeling bad when i totaly crushed them yesterday, even i think that LoN is, well not broken but close to.
    3. On the other hand, what are you gonna do against a Tzeench player that has +10 spells/turn and can summon in units for 10 faith points?!
One of my friends owns a Lord of Change and some other wizards with an battalion gives them 1 more spell each! I'm really scared . . .
