I currently think about my new army project and came to the conclusion to go for OBR. My regular main opponents are DoK. How good do you think OBR will do against the DoK and their new battletome?

I’ve a question regarding the Cathallar ability to force the opponent’s unit to take a battleshock test: A Daughters of Khaine unit that consumed witchbrew wouldn’t need to take this battleshock, right?

?Building and painting both.
I tried to have the riders separate from their horses so that I can paint them a little easier. After building them that way, absolutely nothing lined up. I had to paint them in once piece and I totally messed up the build.
I really love the models, but unless I find a painter who can finish them for me I'm not gonna touch a second unit.
Totally unrelated: What do you think about the Cathallar's Darkness of the Soul spell? My take is that it's totally busted, especially in the Teclis / Powerstone list where you can pretty much guarantee that it goes off. For an opponent that brings something big, i.e. a max unit of anything, it is straight up in negative play experience territory for me.
Sorry for asking but what do you mean by Teclis / Powerstone list? I guess Teclis because cast +1 but which powerstone?
thanks.

One of the two spell lores states that Light of Eltharion can pick from this list but his warscroll doesn’t say that he’s a wizard. Strange.
-
In our group we mainly play 1.000 - 1.250 point games and I wonder if Lumineth will be efficient given that low point range (no Teclis,...).
What are your thoughts on this?
thanks!

How do you treat the trees cover and LOS wise?
True LOS so only the tree itself can break LOS and grant cover?

Wow this is huge! Totally missed that they have both weapons. Thanks!!!
Those monks are amazing!

So... Plague monks with woe staves with both Furnace prayers (+1 attack and re-roll wounds) and the Verminlord corruptor command ability (Re-roll hits) make 7 attacks and average ~6.6 damage apiece on the charge.
Hard to beat 40 plague monks doing an average 264 wounds in one combat phase, and making a second attack for each model that dies if death frenzy went off (with the warpstone token rule and +1 from a gnawhole, it should go off ~80% of the time, and on a 10+ over 50% of the time). 20 buffed plague monks is still enough to kill basically anything they touch, and it's not hard to get a lot of models in with 25mm bases.
With gnawholes, you can teleport alpha strike on the first turn, and with cogs, it's a 6+ to charge instead of an 8+. You might not get the re-rolls to hit from the verminlord, but they probably aren't needed anyway.

With the 1 Attack of staves how do you get to 7 attacks? Even with all buffs I don´t get to that number. What do you mean by warpstone token rule, isn´t that only helpful for Skyre units?
-
Amazing! Especially the suspicious stone on my Warpseer was a real pain for my opponent as that Verminlord became unkillable. He plays DoK and I had some hard time especially with my Nighthaunts against him. Now with the Skaven and the many monks I fielded the tides turned. Monks were able to compete with his fully buffed Witch Aelves.

I´ve two questions I´m not sure if it´s correct:
1) The Suspicious Stone artefact (negates an allocated wound or mortal wound on a 5+) - Does this artifact work after I used the Protection of the horned Rat ability? Would make the Warpseer very immune to any damage.
2) Can I use the more-more Warp Lightning of the WLC only with the Warlock Engineer warscroll or also with the Bombardier and Arch-Warlock who both have the Warlock Engineer-Keyword?
-
Just to be sure I played correct:
1)
Can a unit of 40 Plaque Monks be equipped with Contagion Banner and Icon of Pestilence as well as a Doom Gong and Bale-chime?
2)
For a unit of 40 Clanrats will 2 Bell-Ringer add 4 (instead 2) to run rolls?
-
I’ve a question on the artefact Blistrevous when put on a Priest on Plague Furnace:
does the re-roll of Hit rolls for attacks count for all attacks on the warscroll (including the fortis blades etc.) or just for the one staff attack of the priest?
-
Tonight I´ve my first game with my Rats against DoK. One question I´m not sure how to handle is about the Skyre warpstone sprarks when used to buff missile damage.
In your shooting phase, pick 1 friendly CLANS
SKRYRE HERO. Then pick up to 3 different friendly
CLANS SKRYRE units that are wholly within
13" of that HERO. You can add 1 to the Damage
characteristic of missile weapons used by those
units until the end of that phase
How does that work with a WLC or Warpfire Thrower? Is it 2 mortals wounds per dice that roll 4+?
Doomwheel is D3+1, correct?
-
Still relative new in AoS and looking forward to my first match with Skaven. More of a general question:
With 25mm bases Clanrats that are in base to base contact between themself and enemy unit can they attack with 2nd row models, too?
Same for Stormvermin, with their 2" range. This allows them to attack from the third row?
-
Sorry if this came up already, but I´ve a question on Gnawholes: The rule says you can use 1 Gnawhole at the start of your mvmt phase. Does that mean I can only use one hole per turn or given I´ve heroes and units at different holes that I can use each hole once per turn?
-
OK, thanks for the quick replies.
-
Sorry if this got asked already but with the Ethereal rule that ignores Save roll modifiers do our Nighthaunt units still get the bonus of cover (+1 Save)?

There are a lot of quirks like that. The 32mm Bladegheists having a 1" attack with 2h swords... or the Mourngul having a 1" attack with his roughly 30' wingspan... as a Behemoth that is 90% arms lol
The Mourngul at least has a 2“ attack.

Update from my side: After they sent me the updated instruction manual and I complained again GW sent me the correct sprue. It’s exactly the one shown on the pack and website but it’s grey plastic and labeled 2017.
-
Instead of that sprue it contains half of the content of the older Azyrite Ruins.
-
Correct
-
After they wrote me that it’s just the wrong instructions manual that came with the box I replied that the pictures on the box and the spruce shown on their website are totally different in what is in the box.
They again replied and confirmed that it’s a mistake and that the sprue shown on their website is not content of the box.
As I’ve build the two bigger ruins before I recognized this I think I’ve to live with it.

Out of curiosity, do the new instructions tie up with the box contents?
Yes. This is what they send me.

Just received feedback from GW support that there is nothing wrong with the Set beside a Problem they noticed with the instructions leaflet. Due to them there is a wrong leaflet packed with the Set. They sent me the correct one. Still very strange for me because the pictures on the back of the Package look quite different

@Ratatatata
thanks for your insights. You mentioned you also played against DoK. They are my main opponent so I wonder how did it go for you vs DoK? Their new book and especially Morathi feel really strong to me.
thanks.
